Chapter 1068 - Chapter 1068 Chapter 1067 Xiong Li

Chapter 1068: Chapter 1067: Xiong Li Chapter 1068: Chapter 1067: Xiong Li “Benefits? You’ll find out when the time comes, it’s useless to tell you now,” said the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, seemingly disdainful of explaining anything to Fang Lin.

Upon hearing this, Fang Lin could only inquire within at the Old Dried Corpse.

“Cultivating under the Sacred Tree is no trifling matter, one can absorb the Sacred Qi released by the tree, and if destiny allows, perhaps gain insight into the Heavenly Tao contained within the tree,” said the Old Dried Corpse with a grave tone.

Startled by this explanation, Fang Lin was unclear about what Sacred Qi was, but the prospect of understanding the Heavenly Tao was indeed astonishing.

The so-called Heavenly Tao was not something one could easily comprehend. Without reaching a very high realm, one might not even know what the Heavenly Tao was.

And even with profound cultivation, there was no guarantee of comprehending the Heavenly Tao, as it also depended on one’s destiny and perception.

The ultimate goal of Martial Arts practice was simple–strength was merely a part of the process, while immortality was the true end.

And to achieve immortality, one must understand the Heavenly Tao to escape the cycle of rebirth and free oneself from the confines of the universe.

Of course, throughout history, there were those who had understood the Heavenly Tao, but none had achieved true immortality.

Mighty as a Martial Lord might be, possessing longevity that seemed nearly endless, they were not immortal. Eventually, they too faced a moment of decline.

It was a commonly accepted view in the Martial Arts World that the earlier one gained insight into the Heavenly Tao, the more beneficial it would be for one’s future cultivation.

This view made a lot of sense–after all, understanding the Heavenly Tao earlier meant having a step up above others, starting from a different level.

However, there were also many exceptional cases. Some, who were old and had not touched the so-called Heavenly Tao for most of their lives, suddenly gained insight at the brink of death, rejuvenating and vastly improving their cultivation, becoming unstoppable thereafter.

And those who had understood some of the Heavenly Tao at a very young age might not be able to touch it again later in life. It wasn’t a given that early insight into the Heavenly Tao meant future insights; everything depended on the individual’s destiny, without absolutes.

But in general, earlier enlightenment in the Heavenly Tao is naturally a good thing, and anyone would eagerly seize such an opportunity if presented.

Fang Lin was no exception. Although he had experience with Heaven and Earth Insight from his previous life, which gave him a different starting point than others, he was also extremely interested in cultivating with the Sacred Tree.

“What is Sacred Qi?” Fang Lin asked.

“A unique power of the Sacred Tree, which can nourish the physical body and can also be deployed against an enemy in combat,” explained the Old Dried Corpse.

“Is Sacred Qi powerful?” Fang Lin inquired further.

The Old Dried Corpse made a comparison: “Inner Strength is like ordinary iron, Spirit Source like fine steel, and Sacred Qi is like gold and jade.”

Upon hearing this, Fang Lin understood immediately. It seemed that Sacred Qi was indeed extraordinary, even more formidable than the Spirit Source of Spirit Source Martial Artists.

“Kid, don’t dawdle, I’ll take you to meet the youngsters of my Demon Beast clan, if anyone has a problem with you, feel free to take action. Crippled or killed, it doesn’t matter,” said the Great Sage Equal to Heaven.

Fang Lin looked puzzled: “What if I’m the one who gets crippled or killed?”

“That’s also not a problem; it would just mean your skills weren’t up to par,” the Great Sage Equal to Heaven said casually, causing Fang Lin to roll his eyes.

Soon, Fang Lin was seized by the Great Sage Equal to Heaven and brought to the gathering place of the young Demon Beasts.

After tossing Fang Lin down, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven vanished, seemingly unconcerned with whether Fang Lin would be torn to shreds by the horde of demons.

Fang Lin landed steadily on the ground and was immediately watched by the eyes of the group of demons, each of them looking over at Fang Lin.

“Human Clan?” A group of young Demon Beasts looked towards Fang Lin, their expressions filled with surprise and doubt. They were all shrouded in Demon Qi, unlike Fang Lin, who had none. Moreover, he had vigorous vitality, clearly not a member of the Demon Clan, but a Human Warrior.

Realizing that this individual was from the Human Clan, the young Demon Beasts’ gazes turned distinctly unfriendly. This was Ancient Demon Ridge, a place where only Demon Beasts could gather, yet here was a Human Warrior. Who else could this person be? The young Demon Beasts weren’t foolish, and they guessed it immediately.

Fang Lin found himself in an awkward situation, observed by these young Demon Beasts. Although he wasn’t afraid, he felt quite peculiar.

“Are you from the Human Clan?” a young Demon Beast questioned with a hostile tone.

Fang Lin touched his nose and nodded his head.

Seeing Fang Lin nod, the young Demon Beasts revealed a murderous intent, and some were already contemplating making a move against him.

“So it’s you who stole a cultivation spot from the Sacred Tree?” A young Demon Beast with fiery red hair, Xiong Li, stood up, asking with a grim face.

Fang Lin gave an awkward smile, “That should be me.”

With a snort, Xiong Li’s entire body surged with astonishing Demon Qi, his robust and imposing frame moving towards Fang Lin.

“Kid, no matter who you are, nor what status you hold in the Human Clan’s Nine Countries, within this Ancient Demon Ridge, you are nothing but food in our eyes, you have no right to touch the cultivation spot of the Sacred Tree,” Xiong Li said step by step as he approached Fang Lin.

Seeing this, the other young Demon Beasts were elated to witness the scene, clearly enjoying that Xiong Li was greatly displeased with the young human and was about to take action right there.

“Xiong Li, a lesson is enough, if you kill him, perhaps Lord Demon Saint will get angry,” He Jinfeng spoke indifferently, not even glancing over as if he wasn’t the least bit concerned with what would happen to Fang Lin.

Xiong Li grinned viciously, “Don’t worry, I know my limits. I’ll crush all his bones and leave him barely alive. Surely Lord Demon Saint won’t waste a spot on a cripple.”

“Xiong Li! Give that Human Clan kid a harsh lesson!”

“The spot rightfully belonging to our Demon Beast Clan cannot be given to a Human Clan junior!”

“Crush him! Let him know our might!”

****

Many young Demon Beasts shouted one after another, yet a considerable part of them were inciting Xiong Li to be heavy-handed, preferably to kill Fang Lin. That way, if Lord Demon Saint became furious, he might deprive Xiong Li of his eligibility to compete for the spot, effectively eliminating one rival for the other young Demon Beasts.

“Xiong Li, break one of his arms for me, I want to eat it right in front of him,” laughed a plump young man adorned with a string of baby skulls nearby.

Xiong Li nodded, having intended to do just that, to break this man’s limbs and let him taste the most terrifying pain to instill fear in him.

Fang Lin wore a helpless expression; he didn’t want to be enemies with these young Demon Beasts, let alone fight them. But things were unfortunately heading in that direction, and there wasn’t much he could do about it.
