Chapter 1039 - Chapter 1039 Chapter 1038 Fire King
Chapter 1039: Chapter 1038: Fire King Chapter 1039: Chapter 1038: Fire King “The mystery of the Demon Saint’s disappearance from the previous generation has gathered people from all over the Nine Countries here. Quite lively, isn’t it?” Fire King turned around, his appearance quite ordinary, the type that would not stand out at all in a crowd.
However, Fire King’s eyes were extremely peculiar; his left eye was blue, like a ball of flame swaying fiercely.
His right eye was pure white, showing no luster, and at first glance, it seemed as if he was blind in that eye.
“Fire King, it has been verified that the three targets of Hidden Kill Hall have arrived here,” a man in black respectfully said.
Fire King’s expression was normal, with a slight smile, appearing very gentle, completely unlike the terrifying assassin rumored to claim lives with a flick of his fingers.
“Which three are they? Let me hear, see if there’s anyone worthy of my action,” Fire King asked.
The man in black replied truthfully, “Prince Yang Jianfeng of Qing Nation, Deputy Pavilion Master Wei Yun of Thousand Gold Pavilion, and Fang Lin of Pill Alliance.”
Upon hearing this, Fire King sighed lightly, shook his head, and appeared somewhat disappointed.
“Among the twelve sons of Qin Emperor, this sixth son, Yang Jianfeng, isn’t very outstanding, not worth my effort.”
“The youngest Master of Pill from Pill Alliance? It’s said he reached the Heavenly Eye in the Spirit Vein realm, slightly interesting, but still too weak, not worth my effort.”
“However, this Wei Yun from Thousand Gold Pavilion, despite being young, does have some strength. This one is worth my effort,” Fire King casually remarked, as if evaluating these three individuals.
The group of Hidden Kill Hall men in black listened silently, none daring to respond, among them stood one wearing a black iron mask at the forefront, he was Gu Hanshan.
Suddenly, Fire King looked at Gu Hanshan and smiled, “It seems that Fang Lin of Pill Alliance has always been your target.”
Gu Hanshan replied, “My strength is insufficient, not his match.”
Fire King hummed in acknowledgment, not saying much further, seemingly unconcerned about Gu Hanshan’s repeated failures to assassinate Fang Lin.
“Since we’ve come here, we cannot return empty-handed. The tasks still need to be done. Leave Yang Jianfeng and Fang Lin to you, and I’ll casually handle that Wei Yun of Thousand Gold Pavilion,” Fire King said, waving his hand to the people.
“We obey the command!” Hearing this, the men in black immediately dispersed, leaving only Fire King standing alone under this ancient tree, quietly lost in thought.
A moment later, footsteps approached; someone came beside Fire King, ignoring his majesty, standing shoulder to shoulder with him without any sign of tension, appearing quite relaxed and at ease.
The newcomer appeared to be in his early thirties but his eyes showed a world-weariness. His long hair was messy and flamboyant, with a knife bound in cloth straps behind him.
The arrival of this person did not surprise Fire King; even a smile appeared on his face.
“You came too?” Fire King asked, despite it being a rather trivial question.
“Yes,” the man nodded slightly, responding simply, his attitude somewhat cold.
To dare to address Fire King with such an indifferent attitude, and Fire King showing no anger but instead treating it as normal, was in itself quite peculiar.
“It’s been a long time since you showed up. What brings you out now? In this world, how many people are still worth your blade?” Fire King asked.
The man’s expression was cold as he replied, “A few people who must be killed, they’ve lived too long.”
Fire King smiled, glanced at the knife bound in cloth straps behind the man, and said, “Is your knife still as sharp as it was back then?”
“As long as the opponent is strong, this knife will remain as sharp as ever,” the man said.
Fire King nodded, “Good,” he said.

Hidden Kill Hall took action, and two princes of Qing Nation were attacked. Had it not been for the protection of four royal experts by their side, the two princes would have faced immense danger.
But Hidden Kill Hall still failed; the four elders were highly skilled, and together with the numerous royal treasures carried by the princes, they repelled an array of assassins from Hidden Kill Hall.
As for another target, Fang Lin, the assassins of Hidden Kill Hall were always unable to find him. It seemed as if Fang Lin could always foresee the enemy’s move, always one step ahead, causing these assassins from Hidden Kill Hall to continuously miss their targets within the valleys.
The assassins from Hidden Kill Hall were perplexed; each of them was highly skilled and operated in utmost secrecy, yet how could Fang Lin always manage to evade in advance?
The reason for this was something only Fang Lin and Gu Hanshan knew clearly.
Having repeatedly dodged the attacks from Hidden Kill Hall, Fang Lin and the silver-haired woman entered deep into the mountains, a place teeming with Demon Beasts, but no beast dared to approach due to the presence of the silver-haired woman.
“It’s surprising, you actually have someone from Hidden Kill Hall aiding you. Your methods are considerable,” said the silver-haired woman.
Fang Lin casually responded, “That’s just a temporary solution. The people from Hidden Kill Hall would eventually catch up.”
Silver Fox chuckled coldly, “Do you need my help to deal with these people? If you beg me, I might consider helping you this once.”
Fang Lin smiled, “I’ll pass, are you really that benevolent?”
“Of course, you just need to plant my Demon Blood inside you and become my servant. Then I would take care of these troubling matters for you,” the silver-haired woman said, her face filled with mockery.
Fang Lin shook his head repeatedly. Planting Demon Blood to become someone’s servant was out of the question for anyone.
Even if the woman before him might become the future Demon Saint, Fang Lin would never do such a thing.
“By the way, did the previous Demon Saint really disappear?” Fang Lin cautiously asked.
The silver-haired woman didn’t even glance at Fang Lin and gave no response whatsoever.
Seeing this, Fang Lin did not ask further, wondering how to probe deeper into Silver Fox’s background.
Just then, the Jade Slip given to him by the young man in white reacted.
Fang Lin picked up the Jade Slip, and his expression changed immediately.
“Has it finally come?” Fang Lin muttered, frowning as he contemplated whether to go to the young man’s aid.
“Enough. Being the Inheritor of the Supreme Shrine, even if I wanted to stay out of it, it’s impossible. If that person is as powerful as the young man described, he would pose a threat to me sooner or later. It might be better to join forces with them now and eliminate him,” Fang Lin thought to himself, having made up his mind.
“I saved you. Don’t you want to repay the favor?” Fang Lin glanced sideways at the silver-haired woman.
“Save me? I didn’t ask you to save me, and I’ll kill you once my injuries are healed,” the silver-haired woman said.
Fang Lin rolled his eyes. This person was truly unbridled, openly speaking of killing him whenever she spoke.
“Then I care not about you anymore.” Having said that, Fang Lin left promptly without any hesitation.
The silver-haired woman hesitated for a moment but eventually followed Fang Lin.

A battle formation quietly unfolded.
The young man in white and another middle-aged man stood side by side, their expressions extremely grave. Opposite them stood a young man with a cold face, carrying a blade tied with cloth strips on his back.
