Chapter 1031 - Chapter 1031 Chapter 1030 Monkey Head Town
Chapter 1031: Chapter 1030: Monkey Head Town Chapter 1031: Chapter 1030: Monkey Head Town Chaos Demon Valley lay eight thousand li outside the western border of the Qing Nation, a place seldom trodden by humans, where Demon Beasts gathered.
Due to its remote location and the upheaval within the Demon Beast clan, the already infrequently visited Chaos Demon Valley became even more rare for Martial Artists to venture into.
Outside of Chaos Demon Valley, there was a town, the only populated place within a thousand li.
This town was named Monkey Head Town, and its history stretched back over a thousand years.
It was indeed quite remarkable that a town near Chaos Demon Valley had existed for more than a millennium.
The reason for the name ‘Monkey Head Town’ was because on the path leading into the town stood a stele, erected by an unknown person at an unknown time, which resembled a lively monkey with a distinctly prominent head.
Furthermore, the area was frequented by troops of monkeys, hence the name Monkey Head Town.
Logically speaking, Monkey Head Town, being situated right outside Chaos Demon Valley, should have been destroyed by Demon Beasts at any given time; yet, paradoxically, the town had stood for a thousand years. The residents, unless they courted death by straying into Chaos Demon Valley, rarely encountered any Demon Beast incursions.
Many Martial Artists came to Monkey Head Town seeking its secrets, but those who came with enthusiasm often left in disappointment.
This Monkey Head Town had no particular anomalies; it was not much different from any ordinary town, except perhaps for the sight of monkeys scampering wildly across the hills and fields.
Because Monkey Head Town abutted Chaos Demon Valley yet remained unaffected, many Martial Artists planning to enter the valley used it as a base for rest and preparation before directly heading into Chaos Demon Valley from there.
On this day, much like any other, a considerable number of Martial Artists gathered in Monkey Head Town. Some arrived individually, while others were from various Sects and familial powers.
The town had establishments specifically catering to Martial Artists, and none of those who came were disrespectful or unruly.
Though most on the streets were ordinary folks, Monkey Head Town was under the protection of a powerful force.
The patron of Monkey Head Town was none other than the Qing Nation, a power that no Sect or family could afford to provoke.
Even though this place lay far from the borders of the Qing Nation, its influence still reached here, keeping Monkey Head Town firmly in its grip.
In the town, Qing Nation experts were stationed year-round. Should anyone dare to cause trouble under their watch, it was akin to courting death in the very eyes of the Qing Nation.
A group of young men and women dressed in blue approached from outside the town, a total of thirteen. Leading them was a dashing, fair-faced junior clad in brocade robes, with an elegant demeanor and an extraordinary sword at his waist.
Walking alongside this handsome youth was a stunning young woman, also striking in appearance, easily outshining the other women in the group; standing together, they seemed exceptionally well-matched.
“Yao, we’ve arrived at Monkey Head Town,” said the handsome young man, halting his steps and looking ahead at the tranquil town, he spoke softly to the woman beside him.
“Brother Zhao, we came here without the Elder’s permission. Will we be reprimanded?” The beauty, referred to as Yao, asked with a hint of worry.
Brother Zhao smiled faintly, “Don’t worry. Elder San is busy concocting a batch of Pills and requires a few hard-to-find ingredients. After we finish our task here, we can conveniently gather those ingredients to take back. With that, even if Elder San wanted to reprimand us, he wouldn’t find it easy to do so.”
“Brother Zhao is right, as long as we bring back those herbs, Elder San will surely not scold us; in fact, we might even receive his praise,” said the crowd behind him.
“However, I’ve heard that there has been a lot of unrest in Chaos Demon Valley lately. Many martial artists who ventured in have died inside. Our journey this time might be fraught with danger,” another person said, his expression betraying a hint of fear.
Brother Zhao smiled, “Don’t worry. Together, Yao and I can fight a Demon King. Unless we encounter more than two Demon Kings, we should face no great problems.”
Yao nodded her head as well. She and Brother Zhao were the most outstanding disciples of the sect, and they practiced the same martial arts. Indeed, when they worked together, they possessed the capability to battle a Demon King.
“Let’s rest in town for a while before deciding when to enter Chaos Demon Valley,” Brother Zhao suggested.
At that moment, the group made their way into the town and entered an inn that catered to martial artists rest.
Inside the inn, some martial artists were already gathered, mostly those without any significant background or power, who typically roamed the lands living on the edge of the blade.
Although Chaos Demon Valley was dangerous, it was also a place that harbored many benefits, and these independent martial artists were of course interested in such places, often risking their lives to enter and seek fortune and opportunity.
“It’s people from the Blue Jade Sect,” the independent martial artists in the inn whispered disdainfully as they caught sight of Brother Zhao and his companions.
In the same way, Brother Zhao and his group also showed disdain for these independent martial artists, exhibiting an air of arrogance.
After all, they were from a Sect, considered righteous and prestigious, and naturally looked down on these scattered individuals.
In a corner, a person wearing a bamboo hat was seated, with most of his face hidden beneath the hat, dressed simply, appearing no different from the independent martial artists.
The entry of the Blue Jade Sect’s members drew only a brief glance from the person in the bamboo hat, who then swiftly redirected his attention away.
“Brother Zhao, there aren’t many places left here,” said a member of Blue Jade Sect, who noticed that there were only two empty tables, but as they were a group of thirteen, they would need at least three tables to sit down.
Brother Zhao looked at the person in the corner and noticed he was occupying a whole table by himself. Brother Zhao frowned slightly and signaled with his eyes to a fellow disciple behind him.
Understanding the cue, the disciple approached the man wearing the bamboo hat and said directly, “Brother, could you please make some room? It doesn’t seem appropriate for one person to take up such a big table.”
The man in the bamboo hat just made a sound of acknowledgment, then went silent again.
Seeing this, the Blue Jade Sect disciple’s face turned cold, and he slapped the table loudly, causing some of the other independent martial artists to show their displeasure.
“Did you hear me? I said to make some space. I’ll give you something for your trouble; just find somewhere else to sit,” the Blue Jade Sect disciple said impatiently.
The man in the bamboo hat let out a laugh, “What benefit will you give me?”
The Blue Jade Sect disciple showed a look of disgust, “Seeing as you’re only on the second or third level of Spirit Vein, I’ll give you a bottle of Vein Soothing Pill. Now hurry up and vacate the table.”
Hearing about the Vein Soothing Pill, some of the other independent martial artists showed looks of longing. It was a commonly used pill for those cultivating with Spirit Veins and in high demand. For these individuals, it was a rarity to come by.
