Chapter 67: 67

Neither Garric nor Malrik Sloan were in the group that Michelle’s Spirit Clones killed in front of the Imperial Palace, which was good, as she knew that Kieran Ashford wanted to personally take revenge on them.

While she was taking care of old man Sloan’s formation and the Soul Seeking Pendants, Kieran was investigating the case of his father’s disappearance. He contacted the other viscounts who got a part of his territory after he was stripped of his title and asked them many questions. Finally, he came to the conclusion that Michelle already knew. The Sloan family with their ambitions and corruption caused his family’s fall.

When he found out, rage burned in his heart more than ever, but he didn’t let it take a hold of him. He went to see the little Emperor, and to his surprise, the face he hadn’t seen for a while appeared in front of him. "Lady Grace? What are you doing here?" he asked in confusion when he saw Michelle talking with the little Emperor.

Hearing Kieran’s voice, Michelle turned to face him. "I was guessing you would arrive around now. I need to talk with you." Her purple eyes narrowed a bit when she saw the hidden rage and grief in his eyes. Her guess was right. While she was taking care of the lower realm bastards, he worked hard to uncover the truth of his family’s fall. That satisfied her. His capability was exactly as she had guessed. Without much influence, he could find out in such a short time the truth the Sloan family tried so hard to hide.

From the start, Kieran felt like Michelle knew the truth, but that she wasn’t telling him because she wanted him to find out on his own. Others might have gotten angry that she withheld the information, but he didn’t mind. He wanted to find it out and take revenge for it on his own, otherwise he wouldn’t feel satisfied. "My Lady, you knew everything, didn’t you?" he asked calmly.

"Mostly..." Michelle didn’t bother to hide the truth. Since she wanted to befriend Kieran, she wanted to be honest.

"Why didn’t you tell me?" he continued asking. He wanted to see into Michelle’s thoughts, so he could understand whether she was withholding the information from him so he wouldn’t find out, or if it was because she was letting him figure it out on his own.

Michelle could easily guess what Kiearn was thinking. "Would you be happier if I had told you?" she tilted her head to the side a bit.

Kieran shook his head: "No... I would feel incompetent for not even being able to discover that while I worked for the Sloan family."

When his words fell, Michelle leaned back in her seat. Suddenly, she changed the topic: "In the end, why did Garric Sloan frame you for raping his wife and killing his son? I didn’t look into that incident too much. What has really happened?"

"Actually... Nothing much..." Kieran shook his head. "Every aristocratic family has a case like that." Hearing that, Michelle raised a brow, but she let him continue. "Garric’s butler raped the Madame, and when the Young Master saw it, he killed him. Garric found out very quickly, but as the butler held proof of the Sloan family’s corruption over their heads, Garric and the Madame couldn’t accause him, so they framed me."

"Why you?" Michelle asked. "Why was it that Garric hated you so much? I know that he doesn’t really like you since his father tended to compare him to you, but I doubt that’s enough of a reason to frame you for murder and rape when you are a cultivator, and he could have framed any other servant for it."

To that Kieran nodded bitterly. "I’m not sure about the full reason, but it probably has something to do with my father. So..." his brows creased into a frown as he spoke, his eyes filling up with hatred. "I will ask him about it before I kill him!"

Kieran’s words drew a smile on Michelle’s lips. "Do you know about the realms of this world?" she asked. That question led to her explaining about the realms and the Land of Exile to Kieran, before she could tell him about the lower realm’s Sloan family and the Soul Seeking Pendants. "I killed the lower realm bastards, but I’ve left Garric and Malrik to you. They don’t even know yet about the death of the old man and the rest of his group."

Listening to that, Kieran’s eyes widened. "So... I can take revenge on my own?" His hands clenched into fists tightly as he gritted his teeth.

Michelle nodded. "Yes, but only if you can give proof of their corruption. The lower realm bastards could be killed because they didn’t have an identity in here and no one knew of their existence, but the Sloan family is quite a well known family. If you just kill them, it would bring trouble to you, me and His Majesty..." she glanced at the little Emperor who was studying something in an old book.

"I understand that much..." Kieran nodded. "My Lady, I promise I won’t disappoint you!"

"I know that..." Michelle nodded. "Then, I shall return when I hear the news of their imprisonment or death!" she bowed her head towards the little Emperor before turning to leave. She still had to interrogate old man Sloan who was still unconscious in her spatial bracelet.

Returning to the Archduchy, she went straight into the dark annex’s basement and, not caring that the old man could get hurt, she used her spirit energy to throw him out of the bracelet’s space, onto the dusty ground. The old man woke up with a groan, but the moment he saw Michelle, he froze. He couldn’t properly see in the dark, but he could see that the person in front of him was neither Michael Grayson nor the young girl who knocked him out.

The person in front of him had the same silver eyes and purple eyes as Michael Grayson, but it was a girl. She had the same features as the girl who knocked him out, but her hair and eye color were different.

"Who are you?" he asked fearfully as he tried to shrink back. Compared to Michael Grayson and the young girl, she was scarier and her cold gaze on him made it clear she would kill him without hesitation if he made a wrong move.

Michelle remained silent as she summoned ice fire on her palm. The white light illuminated her cold face as she stared at the old man. "From your Sloan family, who is involved in the sacrificial formation and why do you want to gain so much power?" she asked coldly, her purple eyes piercing. The ice fire cracked threateningly on her palm.

Old man Sloan didn’t know what kind of flame it was that Michelle wielded, but he didn’t feel a speck of warmth from it, but his instincts warned him of danger, so he didn’t dare to move carelessly. "The- The clan’s second headmaster ordered the sacrifice! I don’t know why he wants the power!"

The old man seemed scared as he spoke, but Michelle could see through his lie. Her purple eyes narrowed as the flame on her palm grew bigger. She didn’t need to say a word for the old man to know she had seen through him, but he didn’t dare speak the truth. He feared saying it even more than being killed.

But killing someone wasn’t the worst Michelle could do. She retracted the flame and as darkness fell upon the room, she formed an ice spear in her hand.

Soon, horrifying wails and cries came from the annex, scaring the servants working around. But they didn’t dare go in as Michelle had clearly ordered them before that no matter what they heard, they should never enter the annex.

And that made it even scarier for them. They knew that somewhere in the annex, their Young Lady was torturing someone. They had barely been able to accept her change after she had lost her memories, but they could have never guessed, that after her change, she wouldn’t even mind torturing others. She had really turned into a splitting image of her father, the Archduke.

Meanwhile, Cold Flame, Snow, Mare and Nyxarother left the Sloan family’s mansions and went to spar in the forest. Before Michelle entered the annex, she sent them a message through the contract, telling them to go train or do something else while she interrogated old man Sloan, as from the start, she knew it would take a long time.

What they didn’t even know was that a human-looking creature clad in all black was observing them with a smile. Since the time when it approached Michelle in the inn, it had observed her and her contracted beasts, and with each passing day, it was more and more satisfied.

At first, it was planning to cause trouble for Michelle, but after seeing that she was constantly doing something, it realized that to assess her capabilities, it didn’t need to do anything other than observe her.
