The Evil Lord's Wife Has Spirit Blood -
Chapter 138
Chapter 138: 138
Staring at Alexander’s face, Michelle’s purple eyes narrowed in anger. "You are of no help..." she muttered as she pushed herself off the wall. Her legs were still weak, but she was able to take a few steps back, though she wobbled and staggered.
Then, she turned around and staggered over to the ice pillar and put her hands on it to stabilize herself. Though Alexander’s answer didn’t help her the least bit, she knew that he was right. She had to test everything to see if she didn’t have any reaction.
But there was also the possibility that nothing would happen even if she ended up in the same condition, because she had already regained the missing fragment of memories.
"You say I’m of no help, but you still took my advice!" Alexander chuckled as he walked over to Michelle. "Isn’t that a bit heartless?" He grabbed her by her shoulders and turned her around, forcing her to look at him. "I’m deeply hurt!" he smiled. With just a fragment of his strength, he had Michelle pinned against the ice pillar.
"Let go..." Michelle’s voice was a low growl as she glared daggers. If a gaze could kill, Alexander would have already been turned into bloody porridge on the ground.
"Nope!" Alexander’s playful smile kept adorning his sickeningly handsome face as he refused to let go of Michelle, pressing her back against the slowly melting ice, causing more water to seep into her clothes. "You can’t overexert yourself now..." he whispered after he put his mouth next to Michelle’s ear, his breath washing over her neck.
The warmth of Alexander’s breath made Michelle shudder uncomfortably, and the skin on her neck instantly turned red as if it had been scalded. Being an ice-element Spirit Master, she was really sensitive to heat. "Leave me alone!" she hissed as she tried to push Alexander away, but her hands were still too weak, not even budging him.
"How cute..." Alexander laughed lowly. "Did you think you could push me away in your weakened state?" He got even closer to Michelle’s ear, his lips nearly touching her earlobe. "You wouldn’t be able to do it even with your full strength..."
Michelle felt like boiling water was being splashed over the side of her head and neck, making her frown. Being a former assassin, she was used to not showing when she was in pain, but that didn’t mean she didn’t feel it. She was just able to hide it. And at the moment, she was in no mood to hide it. "Alexander Terce! Let me go!" she shouted as she moved her hands from Alexander’s arms to his face, pushing her muscles over their limit to get him a bit further from her.
At the same time, she let her ice-element spirit energy flow to her neck and solidify there like a patch. She knew it wasn’t the best idea to use ice to soothe it, but since she was able to regulate the ice, it was better than leaving the red skin unattended.
Ice, having a temperature under zero degrees Celsius, caused similar wounds as burn marks, because the extreme cold could damage nerves, restrict blood flow, or even create crystals of ice within cells which could tear the cells—all leading to inflammation, starvation of the tissue, blisters, and symptoms similar to burns. So burn marks should never be treated or soothed by pressing ice to them. (This, my dear readers, is real, so please don’t press ice to burn marks. You’ll only worsen them. Just let cold water run over it for a while.)
But Michelle could do it as she was in full control of the ice. When she let the ice appear on her neck, she also made sure it started melting on her skin, so it wouldn’t worsen the pain and would just soothe it.
Alexander saw the thin layer of ice on Michelle’s neck and smiled slyly. "Oh my, did my breath burn you?" he asked with a chuckle as he exhaled right into Michelle’s face, making her frown.
"Leave me alone!" Michelle blocked Alexander’s mouth and nose with her hands to prevent any more hot breath from hitting her.
But Alexander was not prepared to stop there. With his black eyes narrowing even further in his smile, he opened his mouth a bit and bit down on Michelle’s hand, making her pull her hand back. "Are you a dog?!" she frowned and looked at her palm. The red bite mark was striking against her white skin.
Satisfied, Alexander retreated a step with a playful smile. "Anyway, what are you planning to test first?" he asked.
Michelle’s frown deepened, but before the outstretched arm could reach her face and press between her brows, she tilted her head to the side and relaxed her brows with a sigh. "I want to test the ice first... But I’m wondering how..." she mumbled. "Maybe it’s a bad idea. Maybe I should check the lake first..."
"Wouldn’t it be the easiest to test if the returning memory fragment wasn’t caused by a resonance between your soul and my power?" Alexander asked with a sneer.
Michelle raised an eyebrow. "And how do you suggest going about it?" Though she didn’t like Alexander, she wouldn’t reject his offer since it gave her the chance to investigate a bit into her own condition.
"There are many ways..." Alexander shrugged. "But the fastest would probably be the most direct way. So I can either attack you with my power or let you touch it. Which do you want?"
Hearing that, Michelle frowned a bit. She was a bit tempted to see Alexander’s attack, but she knew that his power was completely out of her reach. So she most probably wouldn’t survive a single attack, even if he held himself back as much as possible. In the end, she had already felt the pressure he could exert a few times, and every time, it just showed her the disparity between them more.
But still, the temptation was big. Just touching Alexander’s power seemed too easy, too simple.
Finally, after a long while, Michelle decided. Though she didn’t trust Alexander, she knew that if he wanted to kill her, he wouldn’t have to coax her into letting him attack her. So she wanted to go with the more extreme choice. "Alexander, please attack me..." she said.
"As you wish!" Alexander’s smile widened before he glanced at the ice pillar behind Michelle. "You should probably step away from that!" he said as he started creating a bunch of black threads around his fingers. They wiggled around his hand like they had their own will and lives, giving it all a strange vibe.
Slowly, Michelle walked away from the pillar and stood in an empty spot in the basement, staring at Alexander. She wanted to see how those small threads would attack her. She felt immense power from them, but she just couldn’t imagine how to use them in a fight.
"Try to move as little as possible!" Alexander said with a smile as the thin threads expanded around him into a big black cocoon. Then, they all shot towards Michelle at extreme speed, giving her no time to react.
Soon, Michelle found herself entangled in a mess of black threads, restricting her movements. The power from every single thread was warning her not to move. A single wrong move could end with her being crippled.
But it was clear that the threads weren’t going to stop there.
The next moment, Michelle felt the threads one by one slowly stab into her skin and slide under it, going for her veins. Very quickly, her bloodstream was being controlled by the black threads, spreading like a web through her blood. It felt sickening and hurt quite a bit, but Michelle didn’t make a sound. Alexander had clearly told her to try not to move, and since the threads were all over her veins—and veins were even in the walls of her mouth—Michelle didn’t even speak so the movement wouldn’t stir the threads back to life.
But Michelle wasn’t scared. She just didn’t like the idea of going through more pain just because she failed to remain quiet in a crucial moment.
Very quickly, all Michelle could feel was pain in her whole body, not a single millimeter relaxed. Everything hurt around the same, with no exceptions.
Seeing that Michelle was about to reach her limit, Alexander started to slowly retract the black threads out of her body, causing some more pain along the way. But Michelle didn’t really mind it since she was used to much worse.
"So? How do you feel?" Alexander asked with a smile as he watched Michelle slump on the ground. She was already tired, her muscles aching, and the pain she had just gone through didn’t help it the least bit.
"No changes..." Michelle shook her head as she tried to catch her breath. She never would have thought that a few thin threads could spread all over her body like a web and cause so much pain. Though it wasn’t the worst she had experienced, it was definitely sickening. The feeling of something stretching and spreading around her veins was terrible. She didn’t want to go through it ever again.
