Chapter 128: 128

With a soft groan of pain, Michelle decided to once again start attacking the monsters and beasts since she was already at the breaking point. The pain in her whole body made every single move a torture, but except for the soft groans that escaped her lips every now and then, she didn’t show any signs of discomfort. She just swiftly swung her sickle and dagger at the creatures, her silver hair already stained red with blood. But her eyes remained purple. Her emotions were stable. She was just steadily aiming for a single goal.

Stabbing the blade of her sickle through the neck of one beast, Michelle finally felt her muscles give out, making her stumble over. Her eyes widened. She had already gone through it once in her past life, but the pain was still able to tear a painful wail out of her mouth, surprising even the creatures.

But they used the moment when Michelle stumbled to attack her again, many sending their attacks at her all at once. They had already realized how dangerous she was, so they refused to let her live. They would use every chance they had to get rid of her, since it was clear that she wouldn’t let them go even if they turned tail and ran.

Instantly sensing the attacks sent at her, Michelle sent out her dark element spirit energy to clash with the attacks while she started forming ice balls in her hands.

Then, when the ice balls were big enough, she slapped them together, and they exploded between her hands into a small, very small blizzard, which basically stayed only around her like a cloak.

With the blizzard cloak on, she formed black mist in the area where she formed the ice field when she got off the trees, planning to take away the monsters’ senses. With the black mist, they couldn’t see her. With the blizzard cloak blocking out her scent, they couldn’t smell her. And when she used her Shadow Spirit Steps, they couldn’t even hear her. The only way left for them to detect her was sensing for her spirit or soul energy, but that was nullified by the black mist since that was created by her dark element spirit energy.

Finally, the spirit of the silent killer of the 21st century woke up within her, the Mute Bloody Queen coming to life. Sneaking up on her targets was something she was the best at. And it was her favorite tactic to kill. Because when she sneaked up on someone, she didn’t just straight up kill them. She showed herself in front of them and killed them with a smile, letting them see she was the killer.

And that was exactly what she was going to do with the monsters. Blending into the black mist, she rushed to the edge of it and closed her eyes, using the spirit energy of the mist to search for the monster or beast closest to the edge. Then, she just rushed at it, and when she was right in front of it, she dispelled the black mist around it, so the monster could see her.

The monster couldn’t even properly react when it had an ice spear stabbed through its head to its tail, basically skewering it.

After about half an hour, Michelle let the black mist and the blizzard cloak disperse and collapsed on the ground, between the bloody corpses. She looked up and saw the flying creatures in the tree crowns, some prepared to attack her, and some clearly considering if it was worth it to attack her. They had seen how she was able to push herself over her limit, so it wouldn’t be surprising if she was able to defend herself against them even if she was completely exhausted.

Seeing the monsters and beasts up in the air, Michelle narrowed her eyes a bit. She had already had her fill of fighting, but she didn’t mind fighting more. But she knew she needed to rest. Her whole body was aching, and even though she had gained perfect control over every single one of her muscles, to not harm herself, she needed to give it some time. If she continued straining the muscles even more, she could really end up with a ripped tendon even if she protected her muscles with her spirit and soul energy.

Still, it was clear that some monsters and beasts still wanted to fight with her. In the end, she looked like easy prey, and they carried deep rage for her since she had caused them to lose their minds just a while ago. There wasn’t a single creature who liked to lose themselves to frenzy and chaos, and if it was because of a human, it was even more enraging to them.

The situation was becoming more and more dangerous for Michelle with every passing moment, so she decided to rely on her beasts for a while. Closing her eyes lazily, she sensed her contract with Snow and Mare to check on their condition, and when she sensed that they were no longer affected by the poison, she smiled a bit. It meant they no longer needed Nyxaroth and Cold Flame to protect them. So she used the power of the contract to pull Cold Flame and Nyxaroth into the contract space, before summoning them by her side.

The two looked at Michelle and the horde of corpses around her and both were fairly surprised. "I didn’t think you would take it this far..." Cold Flame sighed as he tilted his head to stare at the flying creatures. Then, he took on his full original form, transforming into a magnificent and huge white bird with blue streaks on his wings, and flew at any creature which seemed to have ill intentions towards his master.

At the same time, Nyxaroth took on his human form and started walking between the corpses of the beasts and monsters, collecting the monster gems since they could be useful in the future.

Cold Flame was a White Vermilion Bird, so he didn’t have trouble killing off the flying creatures, and those he didn’t kill just ran away. Then, he joined Nyxaroth in collecting the monster gems, before landing next to Michelle. Nyxaroth slung her over his shoulder and carried her up onto Cold Flame’s back, so Cold Flame could fly them over to the cave where Ivona, Anastasia, Kieran, Mare, and Snow were waiting for them.

"How did you end up like this?" Nyxaroth asked as he held Michelle so she wouldn’t fall off. She was practically half asleep, so she couldn’t hold herself on Cold Flame’s back as he flew. Well, if she wanted to she could, but she trusted both Nyxaroth and Cold Flame, so she let her guard down and decided to rest.

Lazily, she started explaining how she fought with the monsters, and hearing all that, Nyxaroth lifted a brow. "At least you know not to risk your life..." he finally said with a sigh. From what Michelle told them, he could make out how dangerous the situation was, but he also knew what kind of person Michelle was, so he knew that she didn’t risk her life. If she ended up in a situation that endangered her life, she would have summoned him or Cold Flame straight away to help her.

It wasn’t that she was scared of death, nor that she relied on them too much. She just knew that she still had things to take care of, so she didn’t act too recklessly. She let herself get into dangerous situations, since what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger, but she knew not to be reckless with her life.

Soon, Cold Flame landed in front of a cave, and Michelle lifted her head to look at it. She was already somehow rested, so she got down herself and entered the cave. She sensed her contract with Snow and Mare leading into the cave, so she wasn’t worried they wouldn’t be there.

And, indeed, after a few steps into the cave, she heard the sound of laughter and saw the light of fire.

But quickly, the laughter disappeared as the people in the cave noticed her presence. "Michelle?" Snow perked up and smiled. But her smile froze when she saw the state Michelle was in. Her clothes were torn here and there, and she was covered in dried blood. Her once silver hair was covered in scarlet patches. The only thing about her that remained as it was when they had last seen her in a normal state was her eyes. They were calm and purple as always when she was calm. "How did you end up like this?!" Snow exclaimed, ready to lecture Michelle about her safety and things like that.

Michelle yawned lazily and sat a bit further from the fire. She liked the light, but hated the warmth it was giving off. "I fought monsters. What else did you expect?" she tilted her head with a lazy smile.

"Did you get hurt?" Mare quickly cut Snow off so they wouldn’t need to listen to a lecture and could instead listen to what happened.

"No. Just a bit tired..." Michelle quickly explained to everyone how she fought all the creatures, and they were fairly shocked when she finished. It was no wonder she was covered in blood. Suddenly, it was the least surprising thing.

Kieran, Anastasia, and Ivona glanced at each other, wondering if they would ever reach the level when they would be able to take on a horde of monsters by themselves. Probably not. In the end, Michelle was a one-of-a-kind monster.
