Chapter 749: Chapter 749: Forgive You (4)_1
"Pei Qian! We’re all family here, and since Grandma came over especially for this, the elder has given us an apology. It’s sincere. Let it go," Pei Qin said with a smile to Pei Qian.
"Yes, Qianqian! Your auntie and all, they really have repented sincerely. Look how quickly they came to apologize and admit their wrongs. Don’t be so hard on them!" Grandma Fang said with a smile, trying to persuade her.
Pei Qian glanced at Pei Qin, then at Grandma Fang, pursed her lips with a humph, and turned to go to the kitchen.
Grandma Fang wanted to ask more.
"She is just stubborn by nature!" Pei Qin laughed.
Grandma Fang nodded and breathed a sigh of relief. The problem was so easily resolved; they could slowly mend their relationship over time, things would get better after a while. And with Grandma Li and the others here, it had been really embarrassing, they had lost face. Who knows what was being said behind their backs now!
Forgiving so easily caused Fang Hui and Feng Shouxing, who had prepared a bellyful of words, to choke back their speech. They found Pei Qin quite understanding for forgiving them on the spot, yet too forgiving to seem real. But forgiving so easily in front of Grandma Li and Old Man Li, without making a scene, showed that Pei Qin knew how to behave.
After speaking their prepared words, the atmosphere became a bit awkward.
Grandma Li opened her mouth, wanting to ask about the situation and gather some inside information.
Grandma Fang cut in front of her, directly asking Mo Heng what he had been doing on his trip and how it went.
"Caught a few bandits who were robbing the military pay, and they’ve already been thrown into the dungeons," Mo Heng briefly explained.
Grandma Fang nodded, "These bandits, always causing trouble, even daring to rob The Imperial Court’s military pay, they deserve to be caught!" She then asked Mo Heng if he was injured or anything.
"I was just leading the men in the capture and wasn’t injured," Mo Heng shook his head.
Grandma Li quickly praised Mo Heng’s prowess, "...you must surely get credited for another merit!"
Outside, Jiujiu came in after drinking some soup, saying that the chicken soup was delicious, and she even saw bugs in it.
"You silly girl! That’s cordyceps!" Pei Qin scolded with a laugh, then got up to go to the kitchen to check on the cooking, leaving Fang Hui and the others for Mo Heng to entertain.
Fang Hui wanted to follow and say a few more words, but seeing that Pei Qian had gone to the kitchen as well, she sat back down.
Mo Heng was naturally reserved, and even more so in front of strangers. He could manage a few words with Grandma Fang but with Fang Hui and Feng Shouxing? There wasn’t much to say.
In front of Mo Heng, Grandma Li and Old Man Li dared not say too much. They were still hoping to use this opportunity to have him tutor their son so he must pass the official exams next year!
Luckily, Jiujiu was there, chattering away, questioning why she wasn’t allowed to eat the soybean worms but they put them in the chicken soup.
Grandma Fang couldn’t help but chuckle, hugging her and indulging in playful conversation.
Feng Shouxing, on the other hand, was still preoccupied with the Sweet Potato Flour Workshop, seeing Mo Heng seated and sipping tea, he began to insinuate his poverty beside him. He had heard of the cordyceps, a precious medicinal herb, which they just casually used in food, and there was also the new decorative piece. He wondered how much money they had earned and how they had insisted on docking their money.
Pei Qian still had a sulky face, inwardly blaming Pei Qin for actually forgiving people like Fang Hui and Feng Shouxing. Even for Grandma’s sake, those types of people didn’t deserve forgiveness! She would definitely not be so kind-hearted and wouldn’t associate with them ever again!
Pei Qin had organized the meals and prepared hot water, then came over to call everyone to eat.
The group came out to wash their hands, helping to carry the food into the room.
Seeing that it was indeed chicken soup with cordyceps, and the cordyceps were almost as thick as little fingers, Grandma Li was inwardly astonished. In just a blink of an eye, Pei Qin and the others had become so wealthy!? Or was it because Mo Heng had become an official and was receiving gifts!?
