Chapter 674: Chapter 674: Imitating a Night Flight (2)_1
Mo Heng nodded, letting Pei Qin and Pei Wendong follow him inside.
"How come you’re here to see Grandfather?" Wei Shu asked as she came up beside him.
"To seek knowledge," Mo Heng said, handing Jiujiu over to Pei Qin to hold.
Wei Shu nodded, moving ahead to the door, and said to Pei Qin, "Madam Yuanyang, please wait in the side hall for a moment, Grandfather doesn’t like too many people around."
Pei Qian looked at her unfavorably.
Pei Qin, holding her daughter, tactfully made her way to the side hall.
An Attendant Student brought up some tea.
Meanwhile, Wei Shu accompanied Mo Heng inside to meet Old Mr. Wei.
"Big sister..." Pei Qian couldn’t help but want to say something. What was that Wei Shu’s intention? Keeping them outside while she, a woman, went in with her brother-in-law.
Pei Qin saw her little face turn dark and annoyed, then said, "Old Mr. Wei is the head of Songyang Academy. If the three little radishes want to get into the academy, they have to be seen by him!"
But after waiting for more than half an hour, Pei Wendong no longer wanted to study here.
Pei Qian was getting impatient, steam almost coming out of her head, when finally an Attendant Student came over and called Pei Wendong, Xiao Yong, and Chang Yonglin to go inside.
Pei Qin couldn’t sit still anymore. "It’s boring to just sit and do nothing, let’s go for a stroll outside!"
Jiujiu followed her out with her short little legs.
The small courtyard wasn’t large and had another section inside. Pei Qin glanced inward, then strolled toward the outside of the courtyard.
Songyang Academy was located at the base of the mountain, and from the upper area, one could see the pavilions and towers of the academy hidden amongst the ancient, robust trees. It was the warm spring season, and peach and plum blossoms were everywhere amidst the lush greenery of the mountain.
When Jiujiu saw the flowers, she stretched out her hands wanting them, "Mom! Flowers!"
"Do you know what kind of flowers these are?" Pei Qin asked her.
"Don’t know," Jiujiu shook her head.
Pei Qin smiled and tapped her little head, "Silly girl! We even picked several for you on the way here!"
"Want more," Jiujiu pulled her mother toward the Peach Blossom Forest.
Pei Qian was pulling a long face, looking quite displeased. She looked back at the courtyard gate and then at Pei Qin, her face growing even darker. Her elder sister was after all the royally conferred Third Rank Lady of Yuanyang, and they were treating them with such indifference. How could her sister be so carefree? Couldn’t she see that woman had ill intentions?
Pei Qin called out to her, "Come and have a look!"
"They’re just peach blossoms; what’s so great about that!" Pei Qian really was both anxious and annoyed. There was already a big ’peach blossom’ in front of her brother-in-law!
"The peach blossoms here are so beautiful! Since we’re here, we might as well enjoy the sight, right?" Pei Qin laughed, glancing at her, and led her daughter over.
The peach blossoms on the mountain looked well-cared for and indeed were very beautiful. The scent of the peach blossoms mixed with the mountain air, creating a unique fragrance.
"These aren’t pear blossoms. These aren’t apricot blossoms. White mixed with red, a different allure of spring winds. Do memorize, do memorize, once there were people lightly drunk in Wuling." Spurred by a sudden poetic inspiration, Pei Qin recited a verse, "With the peach blossoms growing so well here, if we follow this path, maybe we could even find our way into Peach Blossom Land!"
"It’s rumored that Madam is an exceptional woman of the countryside, yet who would have thought that Madam’s literary grace is extraordinary as well!"
The mute guard was following behind; he had wanted to warn her earlier that there was someone in the peach forest.
Pei Qin caught her breath as she saw the man walking out through the rain of peach petals. She recognized him but couldn’t recall who he was. Pointing at him, she said, "No fight, no acquaintance?"
Xiao Guangjing was momentarily stunned, then couldn’t help but laugh, "Madam truly has a broad mind, to have forgotten Xiao here."
Pei Qin rolled her eyes to heaven and gave a hollow laugh. His son was still in her care; she just couldn’t remember his name!
Pei Qian thought he looked familiar, and after listening, she realized he was Xiao Yong’s father, Prince Yong’an. She immediately tensed up, uncertain about whether to bow or kowtow. Seeing that he was without attendants, while they had a guard behind them—even though he was mute, he could write and listen—Pei Qian hesitated, then stood still, watching Pei Qin for cues.
