Chapter 434: Chapter 434: The Technology Gap is Killing Us (7)_1
"No matter what, you’re already mine!" Mo Heng looked firmly at her.
Just as she thought. Pei Qin felt a bit frazzled, "Mo Jiu! I’ll tell you once more, it was just one night of sleep... Just think of it as if you were bitten by a dog!"
"That won’t do. Even if you forced me, I must take responsibility for you," Mo Heng frowned.
It still came back to responsibility. Pei Qin’s head throbbed as she sat down with a plop, draping her left leg over her right, "Let’s hear it, how do you plan to take responsibility?"
Mo Heng said directly, "Marry you."
Pei Qin rolled her eyes, "But I have no intention of getting married!" Men were, to her, dispensable.
"But you are mine now, I must take responsibility for you," Mo Heng insisted with a serious face and firm tone.
Upon repeating the conversation, Pei Qin realized it was impossible to reason with him. Frowning, she stood up, "Damn it... Screwed by a dog!" Too lazy to argue any further, she turned and left. If she had known, she would have chosen someone unknown to force, cover her eyes, and afterwards, there would be nothing to worry about!
Watching her storm out with anger, Mo Heng’s lips curved into a smile.
When Zhang Gengshan returned and saw the smile on his lips, he felt a pang of sadness. In the past, many high-born ladies would have clamored to marry the young master, but now, fallen from grace, in this small town, he was wooing a woman who was neither beautiful, gentle, nor virtuous, and was also fierce and overbearing, yet she disregarded him completely.
Lu Hai followed Pei Qin home and, upon reaching the entrance, saw her standing at the door unwilling to enter, so he stood aside and waited, "Are you going to marry Mo Jiu?"
Pei Qin grimaced, giving him a sideways glance and stewing outside for a moment before finally entering her house.
The Little Radishes were all very concerned about this matter, and their eyes were fixed on her the moment she returned.
Pei Qian went straight to the point, "Big Sister! Is that blind man Mo being attentive to you? He may be good-looking and learned, but he’s no match for Brother Songming! Don’t be confused!"
Mentioning Shen Songming only increased Pei Qin’s headache. With a fierce glance at the group, she grunted and went to her room to sleep.
"It’s over! Big Sister isn’t really falling for Mo Jiu, is she?" Pei Yuan expressed her concern.
Pei Qian immediately went out to find Lu Hai and asked what Mo Jiu had said to her Big Sister.
Lu Hai’s eyes flashed, "Marry."
Although it was just one word, Pei Qian instantly grasped its meaning. Her mouth fell open, and she immediately objected, "No way! We know everything about Brother Songming, he’s a good person. But that Mo Jiu came from who knows where, we don’t know anything about his background, and he brings a load of trouble. He wants to marry Big Sister with no good intentions!"
It had to be said that Shen Songming had made a deep impression. But the opportunity had already been missed. Lu Hai suggested that her brother send a message to Shen Songming somehow.
The next day, Zhang Gengshan came again to deliver soup, angelica and red dates with pork ribs, still stewed until tender and melting in the mouth.
Pei Qin refused to accept it.
Zhang Gengshan carried the clay pot back, but after a short while, Mo Heng brought the pot over himself.
Pei Qin ignored him as if he were air, and carrying a few steamed buns, she went straight out to the workshop.
Mo Heng set the soup down, went back, and asked Pei Wendong and Chang Yonglin to take the clay pot with them when they went over.
Pei Qian stepped forward to stop him, "My Big Sister won’t marry you, so you might as well give up!"
"We’ll know only if we try," Mo Heng said coldly, and then left directly.
"Dressed in black all day and always with a deadpan face, Big Sister certainly won’t like him!" Pei Qian huffed.
Zhang Gengshan, stepping outside, lowered his head. The young master had always been indifferent to others, with Miss Pei being the only exception. He went out of his way to please her, pouring his heart out, yet she remained as cold as an unheated stone. Someone should tell her about the price the young master paid to get Prince Yong’an to save her at the Yamen, and who it was that helped them secure the honor of the Pai Building!
