Chapter 252: Chapter 252: Do You Think I Can Ascend to the Heavens? (7)_1
Thinking of home, Wang Ting felt deflated, and then even more annoyed. Without questioning Pei Qin, he walked out, got on the carriage, and told the driver to head back to the county.
Pei Qin shrugged her shoulders and sent the peanuts she had prepared off to the county as well.
Both the Drunken Immortal Tavern and Moon Restaurant wanted to figure out the secret to Drunkard’s Peanuts but, despite racking their brains and trying all sorts of methods, they simply couldn’t replicate them and finally, they gave up and agreed to purchase Pei Qin’s peanuts at a high price instead.
After delivering the peanuts, Pei Qin thought about the angry Wang Ting and sent two bags of peanuts to the Wang Mansion. What a bear child, to have such a terrible temper!
When Wang Ting got home, he looked for the adults in the house and mentioned that he wanted to go live with Pei Qin.
Although he had calmed down on the way back and knew it wouldn’t be approved, he still couldn’t help but make a plea.
Not a single adult in the Wang family agreed. Initially, they only allowed him to keep playing because he wasn’t obsessing over his skateboard every single day and wasn’t losing his ambition to playthings. But running off to find Pei Qin and playing daily was out of the question.
Feeling deflated and dejected, Wang Ting left the main hall and returned to his own room. As he looked at all the fine furnishings, his thoughts turned to Pei Qin’s almost empty house, which had just a few chairs and tables, and he found himself increasingly disliking his own room. Even Chang Yonglin could go and stay with her; meanwhile, he needed his family’s permission just to make a single trip to Taiping Town.
Zhang Yan came over with the servants and saw Wang Ting sitting dejectedly on a small wooden stool in his room, his little face sullen and his eyes somewhat vacant. Zhang Yan paused and then said, "Brother Ting! Ms. Pei sent over some roasted peanuts for you!"
The servants brought over two bags of roasted peanuts.
Wang Ting looked up and suddenly stood up, grabbing Zhang Yan’s arm, "Uncle! Please talk to Mother and let me go stay in Taiping Town! I promise I’ll study hard and pursue my studies!"
Zhang Yan’s eyes twinkled, and he smiled, "The only teacher in that small town’s school is a Scholar, and it cannot compare to home. Plus, the conditions are tough, and it’s not convenient."
Wang Ting let go of his arm, disappointed, and sat back down on the little stool.
"There’s no Great Scholar living in seclusion over there, so it really wouldn’t be good for you to go study there. But if you just want to go over for a visit once in a while, I can speak on your behalf!" Zhang Yan added with a smile.
Wang Ting’s eyes suddenly lit up, "Uncle! Thank you, Uncle!"
Zhang Yan laughed and patted his little head.
Wang Ting, holding the two bags of peanuts, insisted that Zhang Yan help him plead his case.
Zhang Yan, with no other choice, was pulled by him to the main hall once more.
A few days later, Wang Ting came over again, carrying his skateboard, saying that he would come to Taiping Town to find Pei Qin to teach him whenever he had free time on his Mu Xiu days.
Pei Qin looked up at the sky; she was becoming quite the children’s king! But seeing Wang Ting’s insistent demeanor, Pei Qin said nothing and asked him what he wanted for lunch.
Wang Ting opened his mouth, about to order a few dishes, but then he changed his mind, "Whatever you all are eating, I’ll eat!"
They were having cold noodles for lunch.
After finishing school, Chang Yonglin and Pei Wendong came to the shop and were surprised to see Wang Ting there as well. Chang Yonglin’s eyes widened, "Why are you here too?"
"Humph!" Wang Ting turned his head away, ignoring him.
Chang Yonglin pursed his lips and went into the kitchen with Pei Wendong to help out.
Initially, Chang Yonglin had the guards and servants do the work, but gradually, as he noticed the arithmetic Pei Qin taught him was different from the mental math learned at home, and as he came to the noodle shop every day to eat, he also started to reach out to lend a hand.
While Pei Wendong was crouched beside a large basin scrubbing dishes, Chang Yonglin would dry the washed dishes and plates with a cloth and then place them on a small dining cart with wheels, pushing it over to help Pei Qin and Pei Yuan.
Wang Ting sat with a stern little face on the outside, occupying a table by himself. No one dared to sit there, not knowing which family’s young master he was or what was bothering him.
