Chapter 236: Chapter 236: Only Managed to Hold in a Fart (9)_1

Fang Liuming followed along, carrying three buckets of water, his hands aching so badly that he winced in pain. Seeing the look in Pei Qian’s eyes that suggested he was quite useless, Pei Qin and Pei Yuan were just a bit tired, not like him, feeling quite embarrassed.

After resting at Pei Wendong’s place for a bit, when it was time to head back to school, Pei Wendong asked him, "Cousin Liuming, do your hands hurt?"

Fang Liuming smiled and shook his head, "Not at all!"

"You definitely haven’t done much work! My eldest sister said that even if you study, you must do chores. To do anything, you need a strong body, that’s the capital!" Pei Wendong said, glancing at his hands.

Thinking of Pei Qin and the other girls carrying water without much effort, Fang Liuming couldn’t help saying, "It looks like my cousins carry water without breaking a sweat!"

"My eldest sister knows martial arts! My second sister, third sister, and I are all learning!" Pei Wendong initially thought Pei Qin was just fighting, but since he and Feng Wei started learning martial arts, he knew that his elder sister practiced External Martial Arts while he and Feng Wei were learning Internal Martial Arts.

Fang Liuming widened his eyes, amazed, "My cousin... she knows... knows martial arts!?"

Pei Wendong nodded.

Pei Qin didn’t want them to hide this fact. It was just the siblings in the family, and there were those who invariably would target them, wanting to bully the weak. If others knew someone in the family knew martial arts, they would be wary and not dare to act.

Fang Liuming took a while to speak up, feeling that when it came to these siblings, things always turned incredible.

The day after bringing back the candied peanuts, Pei Qin went alone to the nearby mountain. After returning, she busied herself for most of the day, hastily finishing dinner.

After a good night’s sleep, she was full of energy, humming "Wuhuan," kneading dough, rolling out noodles, and soaking a large basin of peanuts, before heading out to set up her stall.

"Eldest sister! Are we going to boil the peanuts?" Pei Yuan asked as she saw her peeling peanuts and squatted down to help.

"Frying them!" Pei Qin replied.

Pei Qian looked at the soaked peanuts, now with their outer skins peeled off, "Soaked like this, how can we fry them!?" She wondered if Pei Qin had another sudden whimsical idea to mess around with something!

"You’ll know tomorrow," Pei Qin didn’t explain.

That evening, they brought the peeled peanuts into the house and poured them into a big jar.

Pei Yuan and Pei Qian felt cold as soon as they approached the jar, as if they were near ice.

When they got up the next day, Pei Qin didn’t bother with the dough and started preparing seasonings like chili, Sichuan pepper, and sugar. She poured oil into the pot, emptied out the peanuts, and began to fry them in cold oil and a cold pot.

Pei Yuan tended the fire as instructed, and Pei Qian assisted Pei Qin by handing her things.

As they watched the peanuts being fried with oil, salt, and chili seasonings, and were about to be taken out of the pot, Pei Qin suddenly poured in sugar, which made Pei Yuan and Pei Qian somewhat worried. The peanuts smelled fragrant, but it all seemed a bit haphazard! Plus, they weren’t allowed to ask about it the night before, and that jar was as cold as ice, with the peanuts feeling icy to touch.

"It’s ready!" Pei Qin tasted it and was quite satisfied. Although there was no refrigerator, at least there was ice, "Drunkard’s Peanuts are made! Try it!"

Pei Yuan washed her hands and was just about to put a peanut in her mouth when the front door rattled.

Pei Qin’s face darkened.

Opening the door, sure enough, it was Mo Heng.

Did he grow a dog’s nose!? Pei Qin couldn’t help but think scornfully.

They usually made the candied peanuts in the late afternoon or evening when it wasn’t so hot. This was the first time they got busy so early in the morning, and Mo Heng just followed the scent and gravitated towards their home.

Pei Yuan and Pei Qian knew that every time Mo Heng came over, it was because he had smelled the scent from their home and would definitely ask for something to eat. Pei Qian was initially somewhat disdainful, thinking he believed that just because he was good-looking and presumably pitiable with his poor eyesight, he deserved to eat their food for free! But after seeing Pei Wendong’s improvement in his studies and his progress in learning martial arts, her attitude changed.

Mo Heng sat down at the table, holding a bowl and using chopsticks, slowly eating the peanuts. He felt that the flavor of these fried peanuts was distinctly different from the candied peanuts and was exceptionally unique.

Pei Qin packed him two bags, one for him and Feng Wei to eat, and one for Old Father Kong, asking Wendong to deliver it on his return trip.

After making some food, Pei Qin went out to hitch the cart, "I’m not setting up the stall today, I’m going to sell peanuts in the county!"

Pei Qian wanted to accompany her, leaving Pei Yuan at home.

The two arrived in the county, and just as their donkey cart entered the bustling street, they saw a silk and satin shop having its grand opening and giving away fabric hair ornaments.

Pei Qian, hearing that they were free, asked Pei Qin to wait a moment and got down to see if she could get one for herself.

But when she squeezed her way in, she saw the shop owner handing out the ornaments was Qian Wanxiu.
