Chapter 197: Chapter 197 Malicious Intent (6)_1
They had rarely eaten duck eggs, let alone goose eggs. Pei Wendong, holding the enormous goose egg, exclaimed with surprise, "It’s even bigger than my hand!"
"There is also an egg that’s bigger than your entire body!" Pei Qin laughed.
"An egg that’s bigger than a person!?" Wendong’s eyes widened in astonishment.
"Of course! There’s so much in this world that we don’t know about! There is nothing that cannot be achieved, only what cannot be imagined," Pei Qin nodded.
Wendong nodded, half-comprehending, and persisted, "Big sister! What kind of egg is bigger than a person?" He wondered to himself, "Could it be a dragon egg?"
"It should be," Pei Qin nodded earnestly.
Wendong gradually understood. He felt his elder sister knew so much!
Pei Qin’s mouth twitched slightly. She decided it was better not to fill his head with too many bizarre things; being too peculiar could lead to rejection by others if he ever went out into the world.
For dinner, the four siblings boiled millet porridge and finished off four goose eggs.
Pei Yuan was reluctant to eat them all and wanted to save them to savor slowly, but Pei Qin said, "We have so much food at home, if you don’t eat them quickly, even if they won’t get maggots, they’ll go bad," which caused the three of them to shudder and agree, and they finished off the goose eggs.
The next day, Pei Qin packed the same kind of basket and went to the Feng Family Estate.
Feng Bo came early to pick them up with his donkey cart. Along the way, he kept talking to Pei Qin, asking her about her studies and how she learned to read stealthily. He struggled to learn even with the teacher’s guidance. He then asked for advice, "... I heard from my dad that cousin, your mental math is amazing. I only know a little about it, so you have to teach me!"
Pei Qin chatted and laughed with him all the way to the Feng Family Estate.
Fang Hui and Feng Shouxing, Grandma Feng and Old Man Feng were all very welcoming. Also present was the family of Feng Shouxing’s sister.
Old Man Feng had only one son and one daughter. The family had a dozen or so acres of land under the name of Old Scholar Fang to avoid taxes, making their life quite comfortable within Feng Family Estate.
They had four tiled rooms, plus east and west wing rooms; the courtyard was very orderly and quite large, kept very clean.
Sister Peiqin and the siblings exchanged New Year’s greetings and sat down in the house.
Fang Hui brought out peanuts, sunflower seeds, and sweet treats, urging them to eat. "These are specially purchased quality items, I wouldn’t take them out for just anyone."
Pei Qin wasn’t too fond of sweets and just grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds to crack open and eat.
After chatting for a while, Fang Hui let Feng Bo, Feng Chun, and Wendong play with Pei Qin and her siblings, and went to the kitchen with Grandma Feng to prepare food.
Feng Bo called over to Pei Qin, asking her to check his mental calculations, "...You can also pick out a few books from my collection if you’re interested. I’m not that great with studies, but I’ve bought quite a lot of miscellaneous books."
"Study diligently when it’s time, and relax to your heart’s content when it’s time to play; play without worries," Pei Qin said, showing little interest in those books, as she wasn’t into literature.
Feng Bo felt a little awkward and then shared amusing stories from his time at the academy.
After the meal, Pei Qin said it was time to leave. It was a good opportunity to walk home and exercise Wendong and the others.
"Why the rush? It’s still early, stay and play a little longer! After the afternoon has passed, we’ll have Feng Bo take you home with the donkey cart!" Fang Hui held her back.
"When he’s a little older, I’ll send him to learn martial arts. Without a robust body, he wouldn’t be able to endure it later on!" Pei Qin smiled and glanced at Wendong.
"Learn martial arts!? You want Wendong to learn martial arts!?" Fang Hui’s eyes widened in surprise.
Feng Bo and Feng Chun also looked at her intently.
"When traveling outside, one must have the means to protect oneself!" Pei Qin gave a respectful gesture and said her goodbyes.
Fang Hui and the others hurried out to see them off.
Wendong wasn’t afraid of getting tired at all. He briskly walked seven or eight miles of mountain roads and, full of anticipation, looked at Pei Qin. "Big sister! When do we start learning martial arts?"
