Chapter 1083: Chapter 246: Is Death Possible?_3

Pei Wendong’s face turned from white to black, then from black to green, looking extremely unsightly.

Chang Yonglin directly pulled him away.

"What are you pulling me for! Let them go... to seduce Sister Qin’s husband!?" Pei Wendong’s face turned purple with rage.

Chang Yonglin stared at him and asked, "Every time Sister Qin is ’critically ill,’ they’re particularly active, and they’re especially concerned when Sister Qin feels unwell. No sooner had word spread of Sister Qin’s heart ailment than Zheng Yuehan moved in, getting close to Brother-in-law Qin. Tell me, if we give them the chance, will they get rid of Sister Qin?"

Pei Wendong was fuming with anger.

Chang Yonglin then asked, "Does Xie Yi know Sister Qin’s identity and that she has been poisoned, unable to bear children any longer? Would she not think of giving Brother-in-law Qin a few sons to inherit the family wealth?" Even if she doesn’t harbor that thought herself, she has hesitated over it. She also acts as a go-between, allowing the Zheng family to scheme against Sister Qin!

Pei Wendong’s face filled with murderous intent, his rage uncontrollable, even more furious and resentful towards Xie Yi. He had gone to great lengths to help and protect her and her brother, even falling out with his third sister to marry her, and yet she had conspired with the Zheng family against his eldest sister!

"But don’t get angry just yet, perhaps we’ve misunderstood Xie Yi. She may have her own difficulties!" Chang Yonglin patted his shoulder.

What difficulties could she have that would make her conspire with the Zheng family against the eldest sister? What was there that he couldn’t solve for her, that she would do such a thing?

"You need to calm down first. I pulled you out just now because I was afraid you’d do something rash in your anger. Once you’ve calmed down, let’s hear how Xie Yi explains this matter!" Chang Yonglin patted him.

Pei Wendong’s clenched fist pulsated with veins, and he returned to the room with a grim face.

Seeing how angry he was, Chang Yonglin turned and quietly ordered his two servants.

The two men shared a mutual hatred and immediately went out to carry out the orders.

Before Chang Yonglin could act, an incident occurred in the garden.

Xie Yi hugged the blood-soaked Zheng Yuehan, crying out for help, while a maid stumbled out to call for a doctor.

Doctor Qi, who lived in the house, hurried over with the maid to assist the injured party.

But when he arrived, he saw that it was Zheng Yuehan, her entire left shoulder filled with bamboo leaves, bloodied—a deed obviously done by someone with great martial prowess. Then seeing the cold-faced Mo Heng, his gaze flickered, "Find two maids to carry the person back to the room first!"

"Is she dead?" Mo Heng asked coldly.

Doctor Qi looked at the pale-faced Xie Yi, who was in a panic, and at Zheng Yuehan, who was near death, then lowered his eyes, "It’s just a minor injury, she won’t die."

"Then get out of the General Mansion," Mo Heng ordered, tossing his sword to Feng Wei and turning to leave.

Seeing this, Doctor Qi didn’t bother treating her. While the General Mansion wasn’t very strict with rules, it wasn’t without them either. The training grounds were used mostly by the General and Young Master Pei, and ordinarily, no one else would come.

"General Mo... Save me... Please, don’t leave! Save me!" Zheng Yuehan cried out, extending her hand. He had injured her, and he wouldn’t even save her!

Xie Yi was deathly pale. She had already tried her best to prevent Zheng Yuehan from coming, but now that General Mo had found out, even she was disgusted and wanted to be driven out of the General Mansion!? What would she and her brother do in the future?

Several robust maids came with a cart, promptly lifting Zheng Yuehan onto it and pulling her away.

When Pei Yuan arrived, Zheng Yuehan was barely hanging on, resisting being transported on the cart with indignation and struggling, causing more blood to flow.

Pei Yuan cast a glance at Zheng Yuehan, then with a fierce look turned to Xie Yi, "This morning I thought you might be bullied, so I felt sympathy and pity for you, but it turns out, you’ve indeed played a good game! What high aspirations you have!"

Xie Yi trembled all over, crying and shaking her head, "I didn’t! That’s not true!"

Her elder sister had been severely injured and poisoned, on the brink of death, yet unable to bear children anymore. She had to drag her weakened body to think of ways to repel enemies and suppress bandits. Pei Yuan felt distressed just thinking about it. Yet these women shamelessly threw themselves at the situation to replace her elder sister! Pei Yuan’s heart was filled with fury and resentment, "Give them some silver and don’t let them say we hurt someone and even refused to pay for their medicine!"

The maids complied and took the silver handed over by the maid, pulling Zheng Yuehan to return her to the Zheng family.

The Mansion of the General Zhaoyong and Tiance General Mansion were homes to noble families, and though there were few hawkers in the area, just two streets over was the bustling market area.

As it was nearing evening, the cooler hours drew people in droves, making the streets lively.

Seeing several maids pulling a blood-covered person, passersby approached with shock and curiosity, murmuring among themselves.

Already humiliated to the extreme by being transported out of the General Mansion on a cart, Zheng Yuehan fainted from shame and rage upon hearing the voices on the street.
