Chapter 86. Twin escort.
Chapter 86: 86. Twin escort.
After breakfast, Neriah was left in the care of Olesia, Neriah recognized her as the woman who stood next to Anhil when they were greeted the previous night. She was in charge of showing Neriah around the royal castle.
Aria followed behind them everywhere they went and earlier Neriah had asked for Riri but was told that the little fairy had followed her husband to the training ground. The little traitor!
For some reason Neriah could not understand, the twins offered to go on the castle tour with her. The funny thing about the matter was that they could not communicate with her so they tried to force their little brother along so he could be their translator, but the kid Barni was clearly a force to be reckoned with.
Raki and Raku had tried dragging him along when he opened his mouth wide and Neriah had no idea such a sound could come out of the mouth of a tiny creature like him. His cry was loud and ear-piercing that his mother came out and scolded the twins viciously, freeing Barni from them, allowing him walk away with his eyes on his book and a smirk on his lips.
Now Neriah, Olesia, Aria and the twins went around the castle corner to corner.
The castle as she had come to understand was divided into four major palaces. The Baban-Rana palace which was the king and queen’s palace, the Kadan-Rana palace which was the crown prince’s palace and her current abode, the Tauraro palace which was the princess’s palace and the Watani palace was for the little princes.
The names all sounded like gibberish to her, but Neriah listened attentively to what she was being taught.
It was already noon and all they had covered was the Babab-Rana palace!! The place was huge! She had asked to rest for a bit but Olesia’s response was, "You are a young strong woman, your highness. Do not let yourself think otherwise. This is nothing compared to the duties of the crown princess you will be taking up. I believe you can go a little further, you have the strength inside you, you just have to unlock it."
Olesia was a woman who looked to be in her early 500s. Although her hair was still full of black thick hair styled in a high bun, the crinkles by her eyes and the little wrinkles around her nose made it obvious. She was a tall woman, almost six feet and her brown skin was a beautiful peanut butter color. But although she was in every way different, something about the woman reminded Neriah of Lady Bretton. And Neriah didn’t like that thought.
"What is that?" Neriah asked as they walked past something like a huge orange bubble shaped in the form of a peach.
"Aminci-Kore." The twins answered in sync. Rather than hearing and understanding her question, they understood her body gesture and the look in her eyes, so they blurted out what they guessed she was curious about. And they were right.
"A_aminci-Kore?" She repeated what she heard in an unsure tone and they nodded. They began to ramble on in Tragish and she could not understand anything so she turned to Olesia for answers.
"It is a garden. It is personally managed and tended to by the queen herself. It is a garden of rare precious flowers."
"Can I—"
"I am sorry but you cannot enter unless you receive a personal invitation from the queen herself." Olesia replied before Neriah could even ask her question.
Neriah was curious. She wanted to enter there. There were a lot of things she was curious about. A lot of things she wanted to know. But... she chose to remain silent.
After visiting a few more places within the Baban-Rana palace, they rested and Neriah had some snacks which she enjoyed immensely. They concluded their tour in that palace and began the tour of the Kadan-Rana palace but quickly called it a day after seeing a few places.
They agreed to continue the next day, and Neriah was utterly grateful because her legs were already weeping.
"Well done, Your Highness. You did well for your first day here." Aria said as she massaged Neriah who was spread out on the chair like a dead seaweed.
"To think he just left without a word! That bastard is the most rude barbarian I know!!" Neriah huffed. Just between breakfast, he had risen and spoken some words that she clearly did not understand to his family and without sparing her a single glance, he had walked away!!!
She was mad! She had tried to get it out of her head, and thanks to Olesia she had been successful. But now that she was not focused on touring, it was all coming back.
"If we are being realistic, Your Highness, he is the only barbarian you really know. You just met the rest." Aria smiled but Neriah’s glare wiped the smile from her face.
"He is so full of himself! I wonder where he ran off to. To think he would leave his new bride alone with his family! That sister of his clearly wanted nothing but to claw my eyes out. And his mother, she just makes me shiver. How could he leave me there like that? If I was not a strong young woman, I would have choked on those very unfamiliar and yet delicious foods!"
"My Lady, are you angry right now?" Aria asked as she switched to Neriah’s legs and began massaging her calves.
"Of course I am! That bastard is a barbarian through and through! With no consideration whatsoever for a fine delicate woman like myself!" Aria could not help but wonder where her mistress always got that self confidence from.
"You are indeed a fine delicate woman. As delicate as a rose." Aria stated and Neriah nodded agreeably.
"Thank you! Aria, you are the only one I have in this place. That little traitor Riri! Just yesterday she was on the ship begging!"That two-faced little shrimpfish!" Her fingers clenched into her dress thinking of her fairy.
"Just wait till I get my hands on her. I will squeeze the magic out of her." She swore and suddenly her attention was pulled toward something at the corner of the room and she said...
"But what are those two still doing here?" She asked and Aria turned around and her eyes rested on the twins who stood near the door smiling from ear to ear and it was creepy.
""Her eyes are upon us! She is looking. Should we tell her? What should we tell her? How do we even tell her? But we have to see the drama unfold! According to the story she was a drama queen so it will be fun to see the drama unfold when she finds brother with that woman."" Raki was saying.
""It will be worth watching, will it not? We all know that woman can never stay apart from brother even though he is married now. She will still be glued to him like a tortoise shell. So if sister-in-law finds that woman with brother, it will certainly strike up a misunderstanding and then the drama. It will be so much fun to see."" Raku also seemed excited.
""She is on her feet! She is walking towards us. How do we even make her go there? She cannot understand us and we cannot tell anyone to translate it for us. They will know what we are up to and everything will be ruined."" Raki’s whisper was getting lower and lower the closer she got to them.
"" Aye, if only that midget Barni had agreed to come along, all this would have been easy.""
"Hey! What do you want? And what are you both whispering about?" Neriah asked.
"" What do you think she is saying?"" Raku was asking.
""I have no idea, brother. Probably what we are doing here and why we are whispering.""
""Ah, that makes sense. So what do you say we do? Shall we just drag her there?""
"Hey! I am speaking with you. Can you not hear me? Urgh! Annoying barbarians. Aria, how can anyone be so daft? Their little brother knows how to speak our language so fluently and yet they are here bantering in this vulgar language!"
"Husband!" Raki suddenly yelled.
"Huh? What?"
"Huh, uhm... Husband, training... uhm... You come." Raku tried.
"Aria, do you by any chance think they are trying to pass information across to me?" Neriah wondered and Aria also stepped forward.
"By the goddess, I have no idea what language they speak, My Lady." Aria’s purple eyes stared into her mistress’s equally confused eyes.
"Huh!" Neriah suddenly gasped.
"How dare you!" Aria also yelled as Raki and Raku suddenly grasped onto each of Neriah’s wrists.
"Come... Brother... Husband you... Training."
"Dear goddess, save me! But I do not understand a word you are saying. Let go of my wrists you vulgar barbaric boys!" She seethed and Aria tried pulling their hands from her but it was futile. They seemed foolish but they were strong.
But what in the world could they be trying to say?!!
