The Dragon Prince's Bride
Chapter 248. Traitor!

Chapter 248: 248. Traitor!

As soon as little Barni woke up, he looked on the bed where Barak was supposed to be and when he saw a man still laying there, he stood up to check the face of the man to confirm his identity.

When he saw the sleeping face of his eldest brother, he smiled fulfilled and quietly walked out of the room to go find his fairy future wife.

It was Rakavi who woke up next and she woke her husband too. Quietly, they too returned to their bed chamber. When Rakima woke up, she sat on her bed for long minutes, silently staring at her dead brother who had come back to life.

She still could not believe it, but seeing he did not disappear before she awoke, she knew he was real. He had really returned.

She was grateful.

She really was.

After a while she also left the room.

When Barak woke up and saw his pregnant wife buried in his arms, he smiled softly.

To be truthful, he still could not believe it himself.

That he was alive and that she had never really betrayed him, that she was pregnant with his child. That she loved him and have loved him for a long time now.

To be honest, it wasn’t easy to accept. But he had chosen to accept her... to believe her, to trust her. And if one day she ever stabbed him in the back, he’d die knowing at least, he loved her genuinely.

So for now and the rest of his life, he intended to believe in his wife. To trust her with all his heart and in all sincerity he was eager to meet the life growing inside her. Although she was certain it would be a boy who would look like him, he couldn’t wait to have a baby girl of his own. So while she slept, he placed his hand on her round stomach and whispered a prayer, "Be a girl my little spitfire. I beg you, be a girl. Please let your mother lose to me once. Just this once. I always lose to her, so allow me this one gift and I promise you shall be the most treasured princess the world has ever seen."

After his little prayer, he placed a kiss upon Neriah’s head before rising from the bed. About to leave the room, he turned back, walked back towards the bed and kissed her stomach too. "This one is for you, my little spitfire." He says and walks out.

Neriah and the twins were the last to wake up and the three of them stepped out of the room together, chattering.

Barak’s return had been shared with only a few, they were not ready to let the information entirely out yet because this would make it hard for them to capture all who needed to be captured.

So the young princes were asked to watch what they said and how to spoke. Although it was not easy to entirely hide Barak’s return from the people in the palace except they planned to seal him in a room forever. They still had to be careful and stop the news from spreading beyond the gates of the palace.

It wasn’t until late in the afternoon that Regina and Raknar returned to the palace having received news of Neriah’s return to the palace.

What they hadn’t expected in a million years was the man standing in front of them now.

Regina as composed and tall as she always was now trembled in front of him. Her legs had stopped moving. She just stood there in front of the man with eyes dilating and trembling.

It could not possibly be right, yet he spoke and she heard his voice. He chuckled and she heard his familiar laughter. He called her, "Reg," and her lips trembled. Her hand instantly reached for her sword. She drew it out and swung it at him.

No one seemed shocked by her reaction, not even Neriah seemed surprised. Barak quickly drew a sword from a guard who stood nearby and defended himself.

She swung her sword fiercely at him and when his sword fell from his hand to the ground, the tip of her sword rested at the center of hiss throat. His sword techniques were exactly the same too was what she confirmed after their little play.

Her sword instantly fell from her hands as she now knew, indubitably, the man before her was indeed her best friend... "Did you miss me that much?" he teased and an unexpected punch to his face shut him up instantly, followed by her body plunging into his arms.

"Traitor!" Regina mumbled as he held her and soothed her.

Something inside Neriah shifted. She could not tell if it was her child in her playing, or something else. All she knew was that seeing her husband hug Regina so tightly caused something to stir inside her.

"I am sorry." Barak simply said to Regina just as he had said to his sister last night. And Regina merely cried that her best friend who was thought to be dead was back to life.

Raknar’s hug was shorter than the others. It was brotherly and firm. "I was losing weight scared that I would have to take your place as crown prince." He confessed and Barak laughed.

Knowing his brother, although capable of the role, the burden was not something the man wanted. Being tied down to endless duties was not a job Raknar would want to ever willingly take up.

He enjoyed his freedom too much for that.

"Also, you and your wife owe me a lot for the past months. For mow, although I have a lot of things I would like to hear from you, I would rather go in and sleep. I do not remember the last time I had a proper rest."

With those words, Raknar left their midst, taking Regina with him because even she needed rest. It had been the two of them doing all thee searching all this time.

At last, they could rest peacefully.

At last, everyone was home and well.

"Ah, sleep will come easy today." Raknar muttered to himself.
