The Dragon Prince's Bride -
Chapter 217. The Meeting
Chapter 217: 217. The Meeting
After getting instructions from the Strange man, and then almost chased by someone who seemed to have recognized her, Neriah felt nervous. At some point, the thought of giving up on her revenge had crossed her mind, but then she had fallen asleep and was plagued by that horrible nightmare where she was forced to stab her husband in the chest.
After waking up from that feverish nightmare, her hate and anger rekindled and Neriah could barely wait for nightfall.
And when the time finally came, Neriah picked up her small dagger. That very same one they had stabbed her husband with, that very same blade she had personally tried to kill Barak with when they first met. She stared at that blade for some seconds before slipping it into her boot.
With no reason to hesitate, Neriah took one last look at herself through the slightly distorted mirror in the inn she was staying at and she could see nothing in her reflection. Nothing but pain.
She moved away from the mirror, blew out her candle and made her way to the place they had asked her to come to... To Borris.
She was going to end Lyle tonight.
...
Standing in front of the place that had the name Borris boldly written on it, Neriah took in deeper breaths, there was no backing out now. She was going to do this. "Forgive my selfishness, my child. But I must do this." She said with a hand on her stomach. The effect of the lepron shield was still on. It wasn’t going to wear off until the next morning. By then, Lyle would have been dead.
Neriah pushed the door to the place open, the singing and chanting she could hear from the outside was louder on the inside.
For a moment, she paused and looked around her, she already knew what kind of place it was before she ventured into the place. A place where bandits and pirates gathered to drink and have fun, so the vulgarity did not surprise her. Rather, she looked around in search of the person she was here for. Round and round she looked till finally, she looked up and there he was...
The biggest mistake of her life. The destruction that came in the form of that mistake. Lyle standing in a black cloak. The first floor was dimly lit, but she knew it was him and with her mind made up, she climbed up the stairs that led to the man.
"My love." He called out to her as she reached him. "My sweet Neriah." He instantly enveloped her in a hug. A hug that made Neriah want to stab him right in that place. "Come with me first." He said and pulled her by her arm.
Neriah took no notice of where she was being dragged to. But she was certain he’d be taking her to a private room. Borris had rooms upstairs for these kinds of meetings, so she had heard. The fact that he chose Borris as a place to meet up showed how little he really thought of her.
It showed his intentions towards her and that only fueled her anger.
At some point, they reached a door and he almost dragged her into it, closing it in a hatse.
Just like she had expected, a shabby room, with a shabby bed where shabby and disgraceful things were done.
"My love, I knew you would come to your senses eventually. I am so glad you are here with me." He said while hugging her and Neriah just stood like a statue as he did all that.
"I am so sorry for all that happened to you. I should have protected you, I am such a useless prince and lover to you." He says while placing kisses on every part of her face and Neriah remained still like a piece of wood. An emotionless piece of wood.
"But at least you made your way back to me." He finally lets go of her, slowly making his way to the bed. "Now we can be together forever." He smiles, and Neriah wonders how she never noticed how disgusting this smile seemed before.
"Forever?" She finally spoke up and he nodded his head, sitting himself down upon the bed.
"Aye, although we will have to bring this vulgar nation to its knees for what they have done to you."
"Really?" She asks again.
"Aye. Now you can come to me fully. Now we can be together, my love. All that remains is to bring the Trago Kingdom down. Although, with the death of their prince they are as good as dead now. All thanks to you, my love."
Her fists clenched as he said those words, she was overflowing with hate for the man before her. The audacity to talk about her husband in front of her.
"And we shall go away together, right?" She asks the kind of question she knew he would want to hear
"Of course. Come my love, come into my arms. Let me love you in a manner that that dead prince could never have. Let me feel your lips upon mine. Allow me to drown myself in the fragrance of your skin and the lush of your hair. Come to me."
Dear goddess, she was going to stab him. She would stab him right in the heart. She would plunge her dagger deeper and deeper into his chest, again and again and again till particles of his flesh were splattered all over the place, his blood was completely wasted and his breath was seized. She was going to stab him till she gained at least half the satisfaction he gained from killing her Barak.
Slow and heavy steps, she took toward the man who had laid himself back-flat upon the bed with his hands stretched out to her. Slowly, she climbed atop the man and if he wasn’t overwhelmed with his empty feelings of victory and dominance, he might have noticed the spite and anger in her eyes towards him.
