The Dragon Prince's Bride
Chapter 148. A little tryst.

Chapter 148: 148. A little tryst.

After he had rebuked her and sternly told her she was not to speak of going to see the orcs again, she had surprisingly kept from speaking about it. Which was quite abnormal.

Of course he had been the one to tell her not to speak about it again, but she was someone who never listened to a word he said. More importantly, she was a stubborn little thing, which was why he was disturbed that she was not even grumbling about the matter any longer.

He expected that she would continue to at least murmur and grumble about the matter, but she was awfully quiet about it. And if there was one thing he had learnt about this wife of his was that whenever she was so quiet about a matter, she was cooking up something in that head of hers and he could not help but wonder what exactly it was.

He just hoped it wasn’t anything stupid.

"What are you doing later in the evening?" He asked as they quietly shared breakfast. As he asked that question, he saw her eyelids twitch, but then she blinked and he wasn’t certain if it was actually a twitch or she had blinked.

"Th_This evening? I_ I mean, why?" Why was she stuttering, he could only wonder as there was no way to see inside her head.

"Well, nothing much, I was hoping we could go on a little tryst." He said and her eyes lifted from her plate, he could see her cheek slowly being stained with a bright color and her eyes were beginning to twinkle.

"Tryst?" She asked and held her lips between her teeth. An effort to quell her smile, he could tell.

"Aye. I know you have always wanted to ride on one of those unicorns. I just have not had the time. So we could take that. What say you?" He asked with a little smile tugging at his lips as he leisurely watched her twinkling eyes. If he knew she’d like it this much, he would have suggested it a lot more sooner.

"J_Just the two of us?" Her cheeks flushed brighter than before as she asked the question. He always knew she was as adorable as she was fierce, but lately, she had become more cute. It was like if her previous level of cuteness was a single vial of medicine, now it was a dozen vials. She blushed more often now too, just like she was doing now.

"Of course." He nodded and drank from his cup, "Just the two of us."

Her lips squeezed together and turned and he watched her every expression like he was studying for a test. "So? Are you free this evening?" He asked again.

"Well, not that I am free. I am a very busy person. Since I have debuted into your society, I have to meet some ladies and do some crown princess business and—"

"So, you are not free?" He interrupted her speech.

"Well, I really am a busy person, but since you are practically begging me, I would let my benevolent side shine forth and make time for you this evening." She tossed a lock of her hair over her shoulder and drank from her cup of water and he could not help the laugh that burst out of his lips at her words.

Her benevolent side? Of course, "Aye, let us say I am desperately begging." He agreed. "I will come for you as soon as I am done with my business for today. And thank you, My fair lady, for granting the wish of this unworthy man." He said with a playful bow and they both laughed.

As their breakfast drew to a peaceful end, Barak wondered if he had worried for nothing. Maybe she wasn’t planning anything crazy. Maybe she had really listened to his words and heeded them.

If only...

As soon as Barak left the room, Neriah began to panic. Of course she was not just going to obey his order of not seeing the orcs. She was determined to go but the problem now was she wasn’t expecting him to suddenly suggest a Tryst!

Neriah had spent long hours thinking of how she would be able to get past her husband and go see the orcs on her own.

From the information she had gotten, the only people who could get to the underground dungeon where the orcs were kept were the King, Queen, the first and second prince and the commander.

Neriah knew she could not go to Bashan or Rakavi and tell them of her desire to see the beasts with her own eyes, and Barak was out of the question. She was not familiar with the second prince who had just returned and neither was she familiar with the commander.

However, after much thought, Regina seemed to be her only way. While Neriah was seriously pondering how to use the woman to her advantage, a page of her memory had flipped open, and she remembered her disguise on her wedding day. Although she did not end up escaping, the disguise at first had worked. She had managed to deceive everyone and made thee believe she was Aria at that time.

Neriah was certain she could pull it off again.

Having met with Riri who was clearly still mad at her, all Neriah had to do was get the portrait of Regina to work the magic. According to Riri, unlike the other time when the mission was to switch their faces, this time it was just Neriah’s face that needed to be changed and as such it wasn’t necessary to have Regina present. A simple portrait of the commander would do.

However, even after she ransacked their entire bedroom in hopes that she would find a portrait of Reg— solely because the woman was Barak’s best friend— She found nothing. Aria then told her it would have been even weirder if she really found a portrait of the commander in Barak’s things.

With no other choice, Neriah made the ultimate decision... She would have to invite Regina over.

So why did her dear husband choose the same day she had chosen to carry out her plans for a tryst?! "Why?!"
