The Doomsday Lord: Starting as a Insect Queen -
Chapter 134 - 50: The Ultimate Submission
Chapter 134: Chapter 50: The Ultimate Submission
"C’mon, everyone get ready!
No screw-ups, we’re about to welcome the disaster...
I mean, the Empress of the Insect Clan, we can’t disgrace Her Majesty!"
The captain, clad in ceremonial armor, patrolled back and forth in front of his team and the ceremonial cannons, barking orders loudly.
But the guests they were welcoming were extraordinary, and not just his soldiers — even he couldn’t think too highly of the Insect Clan.
Yet, they were a formidable tribe that had conquered an entire continent in less than a month, so for the sake of Zhuchen’s survival, he had to suppress his personal feelings.
"Don’t look so grim, this is a major event for Zhuchen. I know you’re emotional, but think about it.
Did the Insect Clan hurt your families? No, right?
If you really can’t hold it in, I understand; you can leave now, and I’ll find someone else.
There can be absolutely no mistakes this time..."
Similar scenes were unfolding in many corners of Taian.
Zhu Gang and the ministers stayed inside the Yonghe Palace, where the court was held, pacing below the throne, their minds a medley of emotions as they looked at the beautiful ceremonial adornments surrounding them.
He too had once used such grand ceremonies to welcome many guests.
But it was to proclaim the strength of Zhuchen, to greet those who had been defeated into submission.
This time, however, the situation was entirely reversed, and the ones submitting were him and Zhuchen.
"Here they come!"
Somebody outside shouted, and Zhu Gang quickly looked up.
The marble floor outside the hall had sunk to form a huge cavity at some point, with the frequently mentioned Black Disaster spreading rapidly around, replacing the Zhu red carpet meant for welcoming.
The first to emerge were two enormous worms larger than the city gates, their bodies shining with a golden luster, starkly contrasting with the spreading Black Disaster on the ground.
Following close behind were the Disaster Insects, as described many times in the reports and already etched in Zhu Gang’s mind, settling among the colorful silken drapes hanging around.
Finally, a touch of emerald appeared. Arms twisted from branches and vines grasped the ground, and a large Tree-man covered with dense foliage emerged, with one man and two women appearing under its cover, the two women walking in front.
The man lagged two steps behind.
As Zhu Gang watched these creatures from the reports take over his prepared ceremonial display bit by bit, he felt a surge of resentment.
Was this their way of erasing the traces of Zhuchen, to show that they are the true victors?
But he knew his role today, and since things had come to this point, his bottom line had been significantly lowered already.
Just as he forced a smile and prepared to step forward to greet them, he realized the so-called Empress of the Insect Clan had yet to show her face.
It couldn’t possibly be that the "Empress" was one of these two women, or the man behind them, could it?
Zhu Gang was more inclined to believe that these individuals, like the Level 6 Transcendent mentioned in the reports and the workers mentioned in the terms, were humans controlled by the Insect Clan in some manner.
In his imagination, those who looked like enlarged versions of honeybee Disaster Insects, which might have obtained Divine Fragments and mutated, would eventually grow a queen resembling a Queen Bee.
She would look like an enlarged version of a Disaster Insect, with a massive abdomen, and perhaps constantly dropping twisted larval eggs.
Moreover, these three individuals had made appearances in negotiations with Zhuchen over the last few days, known to be one of the "big shots" of the Insect Clan.
One commanded Disaster Insects, another was responsible for negotiations, and the last seemed to deal with logistics.
Coincidentally, Agent Zhu, who theoretically should have recognized Bai Sheng and Bai Fa, was pulled away by Yin Hai to assist with various tasks.
Besides, the two women had no time to care for their appearances in the past month and wore a different set of exquisite attire from Crete under Shang Ji’s direction, so they went unrecognized.
So, where was the Empress?
Perhaps she hadn’t appeared yet?
And why did this Tree-man look so familiar?
Yin Hai shared the same sentiment.
There was something about this Tree-man that felt familiar, as if he had seen it several times recently...
Where could it be...
The Gingko, recently...
Suddenly, Yin Hai had a wildly ludicrous answer and involuntarily looked towards Zhu Gang, who was looking back at him, their gazes seemingly exchanging the same question.
Could it really be...
They all anticipated that the other party had also guessed the same possibility.
It was as if to match their speculation, Bai Sheng and the two others each stepped aside, bowing as if to welcome someone’s arrival.
And the only one they would show such etiquette to had come.
"Here she comes."
Zhu Gang murmured softly as if to remind himself.
Once again, from that pitch-black cave, countless Erosion Worms surged out, swirling and dancing in front of the Tree-man and forming a hemispherical sphere before bursting apart to reveal a snow-white figure within, with the characteristic orange cat hat on her head.
Today, Bai Yi had Shang Ji tailor a set of white clothes just for her, to contrast against the black of the Insect Swarm.
"Good afternoon to Your Highness~"
Bai Yi’s voice wasn’t loud, but through the Swarm Network, it echoed clearly in everyone’s ears.
In the great hall, the expressions on the faces of those who knew Bai Yi and had met her before varied: Zhu Gang and Yin Hai showed sudden realization, General Huo was perplexed, and several ministers were shocked.
"You... you..."
Zhu Gang was supposed to say something to greet the Queen, but he felt somewhat choked up at the sight of Bai Yi.
His mind was flooded with questions.
If you are so powerful, why did you agree to join Zhuchen, and why did you help him, even hiding within the Imperial Palace...
But in the end, Zhu Gang gave up.
Because it no longer mattered.
"Greetings to the Empress..."
Zhu Gang, along with all the ministers, bowed deeply, formally submitting to Bai Yi.
"Let’s keep it simple. Where are the items I requested?"
Bai Yi didn’t care whether the etiquette was proper, she was more concerned about the goods she came for.
"Bring them forward!"
Yin Hai looked at Bai Yi intently, wondering about something, then with a sigh waved someone over from behind.
Three elegantly dressed women walked out, each holding a tray, but under the watch of countless eyes from the Insects, all three were rather timid.
On the trays were the three Transcendent weapons that Bai Yi required for crafting.
At this point, there was no need for the orange cat to continue hiding. With a swipe of its paw, it grabbed all three weapons to its front.
Bai Yi only gave them a brief glance before having the orange cat stow them away, leaving only the head ornament with Storage Space ability.
"All other items and manpower have been prepared at the agreed location, ready for Your Highness to collect. Does Your Highness require anything else?"
Zhu Gang did not straighten up, maintaining a bowing posture as he asked.
If it were not for his Transcendent status, now the Butcher, his physique would not have allowed him to hold this position for even a few seconds.
"That’s all, then I’ll take my leave~"
Having obtained what she wanted, Bai Yi had no intention of going through any further procedures set by Zhuchen.
She was looking forward to her industrial machinery and workers.
After all, they were living humans, not as durable as the Insect Swarm, and she needed to prepare to bring them back.
Leaving did not need any aura of mystery, she didn’t let the Insect Swarm perform any tricks, and directly had the orange cat Teleport to the city already agreed upon.
Yin Hai’s craftsmanship was indeed quite good; the other abilities of the head ornament had been drastically weakened, such as the Teleportation ability which could only be used at preset points, and the Attack ability was completely gone.
As for the Storage ability, it was enhanced to a point where it could store a full 100,000 cubic meters, which is roughly a cube of slightly over forty meters.
Of course, humans wouldn’t use it for storage, but it didn’t affect the highly compressed Crystal Rice.
Ju had all the machinery packed away, and then all the fearful workers and their families were Teleported to the predetermined location, where Bai Sheng and the others would take care of the Parasite work.
Busy till dusk, Bai Yi finally had everything packed.
On the panel, early that afternoon, at the time when Bai Yi had come to this instance, a button for early settlement had popped up, with a countdown indicating the latest settlement time would be at the same time tomorrow.
Bai Yi was not greedy for this bit of time, directly choosing to settle.
...........
Squeeze Head Ornament (Red): Can be used to set a Teleportation point, thereafter the main body can be used as coordinates to Summon a Space Gate that shuttles between two locations, has a 100,000 cubic meter Storage Space, must open a Teleportation Gate once a day, and the time must not be less than 30 minutes, otherwise the head ornament will randomly Teleport itself...
