Chapter 80: Let me help*

"So, you’re ready to call to hell with me?" Kai’s breathy words drifted down her navel, each syllable brushing her heated skin as his hands glided along her curves and moved lower, gently parting her thighs.

He might not be able to fully possess her yet, but he would gladly relieve his wife from the torturous heat their bond had ignited. It wasn’t fair to leave her burning simply because he couldn’t thrust himself deep inside her tonight.

His head nestled between her parted legs, lips softly kissing and caressing her sensitive flesh before pulling back to admire her bloom fully. His eyes shimmered at the sight of his little wife.

Holy Hell! She was exquisite. The thought that he alone had the privilege of tasting this luscious fruit ignited his blood, scorching him from within. She was wet for him, aching, pulsing for him, her very essence demanding his touch. Ren didn’t need to utter a single word; her body communicated every heated desire so eloquently.

She had been utterly lost in the haze of sensation until a sudden, wicked stroke of his tongue jolted her back to reality just for a split second before she flew out of the world again. Her eyes snapped open wide.

"Kai... what?"

The rest of her protest dissolved into a muffled moan as pleasure surged up her spine and crashed through her senses. Her back arched involuntarily, responding to the teasing rhythm of his tongue and lips.

"Shush, wife," he growled possessively, his voice deep and thick with desire as he continued to savor her intimately. "You’re all mine, let me release you."

Her sensitive buds swelled as pulsing pleasure flooded, pushing her closer to an unstoppable climax. His tongue moved faster, passionate and devoted, worshipping every inch of her until her fingers instinctively tangled into his damp, silky hair, desperately pulling him closer.

The instant she pressed his head firmly against her core, Kai’s heartbeat raced even faster. He sucked deeply, his finger teasingly circling her clit before gently pinching, tipping her over the edge with a loud, shuddering moan.

Yet, within him, an inferno blazed out of control at her sight. He licked his lips, his eyes glistened with an evil intent. His father had been right, this agonizing need, the inability to fully claim his woman, was a torment worse than death itself. His throat felt raw, thirsting to be quenched. Shadow could no longer resist.

’Agara, bring the poison to my study. The heat is killing me.’

He linked his mind and withdrew, lifting his head to reveal an expression darkened by raw hunger and primal lust, a predator held back by mere threads of restraint, seconds from pounding and devouring his prey.

’Get out, I can’t control it,’ Shadow growled urgently, aching unbearably not to feed on Ren’s unbelievably delicious emotions.

Before Ren could fully emerge from the daze of lingering pleasure, Kai pressed a tender, sorrowful kiss upon her forehead. "Forgive me, my beautiful wife," he whispered, pain evident in his voice. Ren reached out, desperate to hold onto him, but like a swift, shadowy gust of wind, he vanished from her grasp, leaving only the harsh slam of the door echoing behind him.

She lay there, stunned, still trembling from the intense pleasure he’d given her, the first time she’d ever felt so thoroughly adored and cherished. Yet confusion lingered and surrounded her like a cage. Why had he abandoned her so abruptly, leaving her body shivering with the cold after such blistering heat? She longed deeply for the comforting strength of his embrace, craving the security that always accompanied his touch.

With a flushed face, Ren rose slowly, wrapped herself, and stepped into the washroom, gently cleaning away the remnants of their zeal. Once dressed, she returned to bed, drained by the day’s overwhelming events. Still, sleep evaded her as Kai’s parting words replayed endlessly in her mind. She couldn’t bear the thought of being selfish, not when he suffered such an unbearable need, sacrificing himself to soothe the burning heat that threatened to melt her completely.

During dinner, she didn’t say a word. Gloria also didn’t ask any questions as she found everything intense. But Arkilla told her their Lady spent passionate moments. She was so happy but kept it within her, unlike her usual impulsive reactions. After making sure Ren had eaten enough, she left quietly to let her rest.

It was midnight when she felt him slide quietly into bed behind her; she kept her eyes closed, pretending to be asleep.

"I thought you’d already fallen asleep," he murmured.

His voice was calmer now, free from the earlier torment. His strong arm encircled her waist, pulling her gently closer until his face nestled against her shoulder blade.

"I’ve been lying here, trying to coax myself to sleep...but it’s no use," she confessed quietly.

He pressed a tender kiss against the exposed skin of her back, the spot uncovered by her delicate sleepwear instantly tingling beneath his touch.

"Why?" he asked, his tone gentle yet laced with concern.

"My mind won’t quiet down." She sighed deeply, reaching down to guide his hand into hers, intertwining their fingers securely. Her voice was husky, edged with a vulnerability she rarely allowed herself.

"Did you cry?"

Ren slowly turned to face him, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears, though none had fallen. She placed her palm softly over his heartbeat, feeling its steady rhythm beneath her fingertips.

"No," she whispered, "but I can hear your heartbeat."

He chuckled softly, pulling her even closer. "Well, then, thanks to you everyone can hear my heartbeat now." He paused thoughtfully, recalling how easy it once had been to mask the beating of his heart, to remain perpetually vigilant and guarded. But with Ren, his defenses crumbled entirely. She’d undone him in ways he’d never imagined possible, leaving him off guard.

"I’m sorry," she whispered into the darkness, guilt threading through her voice. Did it set him in danger?

Kai kissed her gently, guiding her head onto his chest and softly stroking her hair. "Don’t be sorry," he murmured warmly. "I’m glad you’re the one who makes my heart beat. It makes me proud that you’re my woman."

Ren smiled happily, though an anxious thought still gripped her nerves. Gathering courage, she spoke up, "Let me help you send your brother back to where he came from."

Kai’s eyes widened in surprise. Did she truly want to stand by him to this extent?

"No," he said firmly, protectiveness sharpening his voice. "That’s too dangerous. Stay here; I’ll handle it."

She shook her head slightly, determination brightening her eyes. "The attack on the village, the girl who stabbed Orgeve, the ambush in the forest meant to separate us... All the threads connect back to your brother. He wants to use me against you. I refuse to become your weakness!"

Kai’s heartbeat quickened, anger surging through his veins. Behind her back, his free hand curled tightly into a fist. His wife was intelligent, fearless, and dangerously, recklessly selfless.

Carefully, he eased her away from his chest, gently capturing her chin between his fingers. He brushed his thumb tenderly across her cheek, gazing deeply into her eyes.

"Is that so, Doe-eye?" Kai murmured, gazing deeply into her eyes. Ren nodded resolutely.

"Yes. And I’m certain your father is already furious at him for stealing what’s his."

Kai pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, exhaling slowly. "He is, but there are dangers that will threaten you if I allow you to intervene. So, we are done about this already. He’ll never get the chance to access you."

A shadow passed through Kai’s gaze, darkness clouding his eyes at the thought. Lutherieth held the sinister power of manipulating both magic and minds, he couldn’t bear the idea of his brother ever crossing paths with Ren.

"Wife," he breathed, his voice low and heavy with emotion, "why do you care so deeply about me? I’m nothing but a half-devil."

"And I’m merely a witch," she replied softly, her eyes glimmering with affection. "Yet my husband is the Prince of Hell and the Alpha King of Thegara. They adore him, and so do I." A gentle, heartbreakingly sweet giggle escaped her lips.

"No," he corrected tenderly, his voice thick with sincerity. "You’re no mere witch. You’re my little forbidden treasure, priceless to me, invaluable to this world, even if you don’t see it yet."

He saw her scratches being unattended and frowned. "You have not applied the ointment."

Ren just remembered it, "Oh, that!"

He made her sit and got to his feet, bringing the ointment, he let her sit on his lap, pulled her long hair away, and smoothly applied it on her tender skin.

"You should care about yourself first if you want to protect others. Never leave your wounds unattended." He chastised her, and she just nodded.

As he was done, he drew her closer against his chest, embracing her tightly. Closing his eyes, he whispered, sniffing her scent, "I’ve missed sleeping beside you. Rest now."

Ren nestled deeper into his embrace, cherishing the warmth she craved down to her bones. Despite the countless thoughts swirling in her mind, she miraculously drifted into sleep, secure within his comforting hold.
