The Devil's Son and His Fated Bride -
Chapter 219: A plan.
Chapter 219: A plan.
Siamon nodded grimly. "The giant has slaughtered so many of our soldiers. But if we can bring him down, the rest of the vampires will fall like dust. Acelieth is afraid of Sunkiath. He didn’t dare set foot on the battlefield. Victor is still hiding on Witch Island. That leaves just four Lords. If we take down the giant... their army will fracture."
Ren gave a bitter smile. It was not hope, it was calculation, cold and careful.
"It won’t be easy," she said. "Our hidden battalions already struck several of their strongholds, the places where the Lords were gathering forces. But all they found were stragglers. Wandering pests. They knew we were coming. They’re always one step ahead."
Siamon was silent for a beat, then nodded. He was relieved, in a way. She was seeing the truth now, not through the haze of reckless sacrifice, but with clear, protective fire. This winter would stretch long and be cruel. Even scattered vampires would crawl from their holes to hunt, to mutate into human form. And even if one Lord fell, the others would not follow easily.
"You’re right," Siamon agreed. "The new mutated vampires, they blend in like ordinary people. Only the wolves can sense them among the shifters. We need magic. A spell strong enough to draw them all out."
Ren bobbed her head slowly. "I hate to admit it... but Sigaros is right. The vampires may lose their Lords, but they still cling to the sorcerers. If the Witch Island succeeds in creating an army that can walk beneath the sun..."
Even voicing the possibility sent a sliver of cold down her spine, sharp and metallic, like silver on skin.
"What do you suggest?" Siamon asked carefully.
Ren inhaled deeply, her gaze sharpening. "We need time. We need a distraction. I’ll call a summit in the Ice Land, a council meeting with the remaining Lords and sorcerers. They will come for me. While they gather, I’ll kill who I can... and imprison the sorceress."
Siamon flinched. "Do we even have the strength for that?"
Ren lifted her chin. "Trust me. Help will come when it’s needed. My uncle, Lucieth, is already on his way. We need the Lords and the High Sorcerers in one place. We end it there."
Siamon stared at her. The quiet certainty in her voice chilled him more than any snow. He had no idea how their Luna Queen had convinced that arrogant, silver-tongued Fae prince to leave his realm, let alone fight for them. And truth be told... he didn’t want to know. This was war. And Ren had become something else, something he couldn’t quite name.
"All I ask is this," Siamon said quietly. "My Luna, have you ever invited your uncle to meet you here, in the mortal realm?"
Ren offered a faint, knowing smirk but didn’t answer directly. "I have my secrets, Siamon. Can you respect that?"
The butler straightened, placing a hand on his chest as he bowed. "I trust you. But be careful with him... He despises our Alpha King."
Ren didn’t need the reminder. She had known it the moment Lucieth agreed to come.
She watched Siamon leave, then turned back to the bed. Gently, she took Kai’s hand in both of hers. It was warm, too warm, but not lifeless. She leaned in and pressed her lips to his burning forehead. Then, lowering her mouth to his, she whispered, voice trembling with longing and strength:
"Shadow... I feel you. I sense how you’ve changed."
Her fingers brushed over his cheek as she closed her eyes.
"But you need to wake up now. Heal yourself. Come back to me."
She paused, then exhaled softly, a breath filled with power, not desperation.
"I want all of you, husband. Not just a body. Not just a sliver of what you were. You’re mine. And all of you... belong to me."

After dinner, Ren made her way to the cave in the castle’s northern wing, where Ogain dwelled. Her Griffin, the beast who had once flown her into the heart of the gods’ realm, was more than a creature. He was her companion, her shield, and her reminder of what sacrifice truly meant.
She brought him food, offering it with quiet reverence, then ran her fingers gently down the curve of his beak. "Your bravery still leaves me speechless, Ogain."
The Griffin closed his eyes, accepting the affection. "What’s your plan for breaking the giant’s armor?"
Ren let her hand fall and sat down on the edge of the high rock beside him. A chill breeze drifted through the cave, rustling the fur lining her cloak. "I’m not valorous," she murmured. "I’m scared, Ogain."
"They won’t be able to break it without me," he said firmly. "I’ll go alone if I must. Or Gamma Orgeve can ride with me, he’s my keeper. I trust him."
Ren shook her head. "Absolutely not. I won’t let you face that monster alone. When we link our powers, nothing can stop us. Without me, you’d be vulnerable. I can heal you, even in the sky."
Ogain gave a rough snort, his feathers ruffling. "You’re pregnant, Lady. How do you plan to beat down a giant with the lives inside you?"
Ren lowered her gaze, placing a hand on her stomach. "We deceive them," she said. "That’s how."
The Griffin narrowed his eyes. "Hmm. Are you planning to invite them for tea?"
He scoffed with dry amusement, but there was a flicker of something else behind it: respect. His rider, gentle, strong, and once recklessly selfless, was preparing to become something far more dangerous.
"Yes," she whispered coldly, "and I will kill them all while pretending to seek peace. Without Luther, they’re fragile. Scared. There’s a rift growing between those Lords, and I will tear it open."
Ogain opened his eyes, watching her closely. The fire in her gaze was no longer just anger, it was the purpose. She wasn’t merely surviving anymore. She was strategizing to end it all.
"What changed?" he asked quietly. "What has happened these past few days since you saved your husband?"
Ren’s eyes shimmered with tears. "He talks in his sleep, Ogain. And when I ask him questions... he answers. He doesn’t even know he’s doing it. He’s suffered too much, far too much in those three months. It felt like a few moons to us. But for him... it was years."
Ogain’s eyes darkened, narrowing as he braced for the truth.
"How long did the war last?"
"Two years," she said bitterly. "And after that, I was murdered. You were chained by the royals of Alvonia in every future he saw. Only the last vision kept me alive... and in that one, I delivered our twins."
She lifted her eyes to meet him. She could feel Ogain’s fury simmering beneath his feathers like a silent storm.
"Then let’s end this war," he growled. "And afterward, we’ll slaughter every last mortal who dares to stand against us."
Ren let out a dry, resolute chuckle. "To protect all of you... I will kill them all."
Her hand rested over her belly, fingers trembling slightly, but her resolve was iron. She would not forgive again. Not this time.
Ogain lowered his head and nuzzled her arm with fierce affection. "We will live, Reneira. But if we can’t... we’ll die together."
