The Devil's Son and His Fated Bride
Chapter 20: Do whatever you want

Chapter 20: Do whatever you want

He chuckled teasingly, "Haven’t you watched enough?" The flames of the candles twinkled in her wide blue eyes, reflecting a mix of fascination and embarrassment as she peered at him.

Her gaze lingered for a moment too long, assessing every single line on his muscular body, betraying her intrigue before she abruptly turned away, flustered. As he approached, she became even more ashamed, rolling around and covering her entire body beneath the blanket. "Oh, sorry! I didn’t know you had such a big tattoo." Ren swallowed; as just a few seconds ago she had taken in the beautiful dragon tattoo that sprawled across his chiseled and sturdy muscles, from his groin winding to his neckline. His body was like a well-crafted piece of art, muscles rippled on each other, speaking of grace and power, a sight to behold and be melted. He must have spent so much time training and building it. She couldn’t wonder why all the females swooned over him, standing on their toes only for his mere heed and now that he was married, they wanted to shred her to pieces. A meager human had won their dream man.

She closed her eyes, praying that he would leave his pants on before hitting the bed. She wasn’t ready to see the rest and be choked on her own lust.

He lay next to her on the right side of the bed casually, yet kept his distance from her. "What is it, doe-eyes? You don’t like it?"

Beneath the blanket, she shook her head, fighting her urge not to steal looks and embarrass herself, the heat charred her insides. It was so fucking hot! He was fiercely, painfully, sinfully hot!

Her reaction already made his grin even wider.

"Oh, no! That’s beautiful. I like tattoos, but I was never allowed to have one!"

He raised his brow. "How come?"

"A princess shouldn’t have a single scratch on her body." Ren grabbed the ruby necklace around her neck and rubbed its wings to calm herself as it worked often. But a new wave of heat surged through her body, hitting her hard to the core.

’What the fuck is wrong with me!’

It was the first time he was this close that she could sense the raw heat of his body. The night he held her in the forest, she had felt his cock under her thighs. Why was she now visualizing his naked body? She was ashamed of her lewd thoughts.

She loathed the odd and dreadful emotions that ignited within her, twisting her thoughts into an unfamiliar and disconcerting haze. Her heart pounded, her chest tightened, and an inexplicable warmth crawled through her body, leaving her both ashamed and utterly bewildered. She screamed in her mind.

"Humans and their stupid laws. Have you ever lived for yourself, princess?"

The question widened Ren’s eyes! Had she? The only thing she chose for herself in her entire life was Viva! Even the healing classes she took were under her father’s pressure, although she liked them too. But she couldn’t protest if she didn’t want to attend.

"I don’t know." She couldn’t answer the question because she didn’t have any.

Kai looked at her in disbelief. Had she ever fought for her life to be the way she wanted, or had she just sacrificed herself for her family’s will? He frowned as he put his arm on his forehead and a shadow cast on his eyes.

"Get some rest, and from tomorrow, do whatever you want."

Ren smiled, and before closing her eyes, she asked, "The bracelet that you took off required a tool crafted with Fae magic. How could you find one?"

His voice was sleepy and relaxed. "Hmm, you were just lucky that Elaika found something that belonged to the Fae."

So she owed Elaika too, somehow. But how could he bring her to help? Did he promise her something?

The next morning, when she woke up, he was already gone, and Gloria was pulling the curtains to let the sun wash the room. The sunlight hit her eyes sharply, making her squint them.

"Good morning, Gloria."

The girl excitedly turned around and hurried to the table. "Milady, I’m glad you slept tight last night."

She pointed at the hourglass, and when Ren’s eyes drifted to that side, she almost choked. Only two hours left until noon? She had overslept, and they didn’t wake her up.

"Oh, my goodness. Gloria, you should have woken me up!"

She smiled and shook her head. "Your Grace asked me to let you sleep as long as you want."

She set the table and helped Ren leave the bed, suddenly exclaiming, "Ah, milady, you’re moving your fingers!" she was so happy she didn’t mind her loud voice.

"Oh, yeah! It happened last night!" Ren blushed at the thought of the reason that brought sensation back to her fingers. The moment she saw her husband’s shirtless body, her fingers curled. Her body had responded so much that the numbness in her limbs had decreased noticeably. But she wouldn’t elaborate on the reason for anybody. Why would she tell Gloria that she was seduced by her husband?

Regardless, Gloria noticed her red cheeks and giggled. "Did something happen last night?"

Ren was now entirely embarrassed and shook her head. "No. Please help me wash up and go to the infirmary. I need to get to my feet as soon as possible."

The maiden obeyed the order, and after an hour, they were prepared to leave the room when Ren asked, "Do you have any news of my horse?"

Gloria shook her head. "I just realized you have a horse?!"

Ren scowled. "Yes, she is a black battle horse. Her name is Viva."

"A good name! That’s great. You can ride a horse."

They left the chambers, and Ren noticed the gazes were softer while looking at her. Some held respect—mostly human vassals. The females didn’t stare at her for long like before. Things would ease out soon. At least, she hoped so.

Before they left the entrance hall, her eyes caught Rail, who waved a hand at her. "Luna Ren!"

Oh, a new title? She had been addressed as ’Sister Ren’ before.

"Gamma Rail! How have you been?"

"Well, very busy! The war has kept us all on our feet. How are you? Are you feeling better?" His expression grew sad as he looked at her condition.

"Yes, I’m getting better. I can sense my fingers."

He sighed, seeming relieved. "That’s amazing. I knew our Luna was strong. Are you heading somewhere?"

"Yes, the infirmary! I want to get on my feet in two days and ride around with Viva."

He was about to offer his help when Axe shouted, "You freak, shake your legs and stop slacking around. We need to go."

"Well, I’m not interrupting you." Rail looked over his shoulder. "Coming, you bulky brute!"

"Good day, Luna Ren! I gotta go!" He waved his hand as he rushed out swiftly.

Ren offered a soft smile and glanced at the silent maiden, noting how her cheeks bloomed with a deep flush, her gaze still fixed on the spot where Rail had vanished.

She grinned as she remarked, "Gloria, we should go!"
