The Devil's Son and His Fated Bride
Chapter 121: Kill her and end the war.

Chapter 121: Kill her and end the war.

She knew the risk. And she did it anyway.

As they reached the forest’s edge, a flock of birds scattered with a sudden, ear-piercing chirp. Their wings sliced through the silence, warning of something violent.

There, Shadow had Elaika ensnared in his whip, the black tendrils coiled around her like serpents. That whip, lethal enough to reduce a body to ash and banish it to the Shadow Realm, glowed faintly with menace.

Elaika’s chest bled freely, the fresh wound marked with Shadow’s claw.

"Coran! Brother, help me! There must be a misunderstanding." She screamed, desperation cracking her voice.

"Pity yourself, sister," Coran said bitterly, his words soaked in resentment.

Kai watched him with narrowed eyes, head slightly tilted. He was satisfied. Coran, as always, was reasonable, even when his heart was on the line.

"Shadow," Kai ordered, "bring her to the edge of the path she used to sneak into the castle."

Shadow hoisted her like a rag doll, and rapidly, they all followed him to a small iron door tucked into the stone.

Kai strode silently to the trail of blood streaking the path. It stained the rocks and ran toward the riverbank, like a tale told in crimson.

"You murdered two Omega guards," he enunciated calmly, his voice low and cold as steel. "And you tossed their bodies into the river after cutting their throat... thinking I wouldn’t find out?"

His words were blades, sharp, merciless. Elaika stood no chance if she confessed now.

Coran’s breath caught. His eyes flew wide. The guards stationed at this gate, he had trained with them. They were his comrades. Not weak wolves. Not disposable.

They were trained, loyal, good people, and now dead. Their bodies were gone and not burned. They might become vengeance spirits. Coran’s heart ached.

"I didn’t kill anyone!" Elaika shrieked, shaking her head violently.

Kai crouched beside the bloodstain, dipped his finger into it, and brought it to his nose. His expression hardened.

"Poison," he muttered coldly. "You couldn’t fight them, so you poisoned them first. Were you going to blame the vampires for their deaths? How convenient. But do you think I’m someone so easily fooled, Elaika?"

Beta Coran’s body trembled. His fangs bared, hands shifting into claws. A guttural howl tore from his throat before he growled viciously at his sister.

"You killed our kind. That’s unforgivable."

"Brother, don’t believe them!" Elaika cried, her voice cracking. "I’m your sister! I didn’t leave because I loved him, I’m not a killer!"

"Shut up!" Rail barked. "Are you saying His Highness is a liar?"

Kai stepped forward, voice like sharp shards of ice, "Confess, Elaika. Why did you do it? And how did you command a vampire?"

Before she could answer, a thunderous voice roared across the field.

Everyone turned. On the side of the bridge, a carriage barreled toward them, its wheels thundering over the rocky path. The Luna Queen’s orders had brought it swiftly.

The carriage screeched to a halt, and its doors flew open. Familiar figures spilled out, racing toward the rocky stretch where the narrow iron door led back into the castle.

Elaika lay on the ground, whining, bleeding, and begging for her life.

As they approached, the group stopped behind a rock, stunned into silence. The sight before them was too overwhelming to process at first.

But after a brief moment of disbelief, they regained their composure and stepped forward.

"She had killed the omegas at this gate!" Rail told them.

"You fucking little whore!" Orgeve’s shout cut through the air like a whip.

Elaika hated this. Ren stood there, regal in her fine clothing, her beauty as striking as ever. For Elaika, the sight was a sharp sting. The fancy royal attire was a constant reminder of everything Elaika despised.

The last shred of her resistance evaporated. The innocent mask she had worn to deceive them shattered, and in its place, a raw fury bloomed. Blind rage and impulsiveness, her true weaknesses, had taken over.

"I see the aura of blood around you, Elaika," Ren said, her voice steady but carrying the weight of undeniable truth. "You killed the guards. And you used dark magic spells on the guards in the dungeons. I sensed it that day. At first, I thought the stench came from the vampires, but now... I know it was you."

Her words hit with the force of a hammer. No one could argue.

Ren’s gaze softened briefly as she looked at Shadow, a tenderness in her eyes. She had missed him, though it saddened her that he was always there to save her. Shadow was the embodiment of Kai’s darker side, the part of him she had yet to fully understand.

Kai stepped forward, his demeanor as commanding as ever. "I give a straight decree," he announced, his voice resolute. The moment was critical, and nothing would cloud his judgment, not his feelings for Coran, nor his allegiance to the Mountain Wolf clan.

"Beta Coran, please state the consequences of her crime," Kai wished, his voice as unwavering as his decision.

"Elaika of the Mountain Wolf Clan, you are to be executed this evening," Coran declared, his tone cold and final. "You’ve committed unforgivable crimes: treachery, the murder of shifters, the use of dark magic, and an attempt on the Luna Queen’s life."

Elaika’s reaction was immediate, an inhuman cry tore from her chest, raw with hatred and an unspoken grudge. "She’s a witch! A stupid human! She’s lured you all into this trap, and you can’t see it! Many of us have died because of her. Luther wants her! That’s why this war started. He’s so fucking in love with her that he started this war! He’s going to turn her into a vampire, make her his Lord Queen. I was doing you all a favor, ending this war before it gets worse."

Kai’s expression darkened as the weight of her words sank in.

"You’ve seen Luther?" Coran muttered, his voice barely above a whisper, laced with disbelief.

Elaika’s shoulders slumped, her anger dissipating into defeat.

Ren’s spine went cold. Was Lutherieth truly in love with her? Her gaze flickered to Kai, who stood rigid, fury and hurt etched deeply across his face. Her heart clenched painfully. Hearing this wasn’t easy for him, no matter what species he was. He was her man.

"Well, you certainly have a lot to say," Agara commented, standing next to Elaika, his voice dripping with disdain as Shadow tightened the whip around her captive form.

"Shadow," Kai ordered, his voice as hard as iron, "take her to the dungeons. To the stench cell, the one we kept that vampire in."

Without a single glance toward Ren, Kai disappeared, leaving a heavy silence in his wake. Ren’s blood chilled. Had he just disregarded her completely?
