The Devil's Son and His Fated Bride
Chapter 111: Facing their doomsday.

Chapter 111: Facing their doomsday.

And then the tears came. Her heart was slashed and heavy. Those silent tears couldn’t express the depth of her pain. Each one of her memories was cutting deeper than the last. She had given herself to a lie, an illusion and it had torn her apart. Not just her, but many.

"You should have let me die," Daniella whispered, voice raw with grief. "He turned my father into one those monsters first... then made me watch as he slaughtered my mother. That’s when I realized, he’d turned others too, right before the wedding."

The guilt hung on her shoulders like iron chains, but it wasn’t hers alone to carry. The entire village had helped him, knowingly or not.

Kai’s voice cut through the stillness. "How much information did you give them?"

Daniella didn’t flinch. "Everything. All the maps we had. I couldn’t go near the wolves for a long time, they could smell the vampire’s scent on me. The one time I tried, I lied. I said vampires attacked us and that we killed them. Just to cover my tracks. Victor brought in a few dead ones, and we... we spiked their heads to make it look convincing."

"Victor?" Ren echoed, her eyes narrowing.

That name rang through her memory like a chime of warning. Her husband said the Lord vampire in that village was wearing noble clothing.

"Yes," Daniella said, her voice trembling. "His name is Victor Keleemont."

Ren shot to her feet, eyes locking with Kai’s. Victor Keleemont? That bastard was alive?

A traitor of the worst kind. A rebellious nobleman from Sokalia, Victor had once attempted to assassinate his own brother to steal the throne. He’d slaughtered his fifteen-year-old nephew in cold blood; the King of Sokalia was too blind to see that his boy, trained by his brother as an uncle, had only been a pawn in his twisted game.

"He’s the illegitimate son of Sokalia’s late king," Ren said darkly. "My uncle crushed his rebellion three years ago."

And now he was back, from the shadows, from the grave, with fangs and vengeance.

This meant Luther wasn’t just gathering allies, he was handpicking monsters. The most vicious, the most broken, the ones whose hearts had long since rotted to ash. No love. No mercy. No loyalty, except to chaos.

Ren’s breath caught in her throat. If every one of Luther’s Lords came from different realms... if each had their own legion... They weren’t facing a rebellion. They were facing extinction.

"Enough for today," Kai said, his voice hollow. He stood, unnervingly calm. "Coran, continue with her later."

Ren was already spiraling. The pieces had fallen into place, and what she saw wasn’t just a plot. It was doomsday written in blood.

"Can I have a moment alone with her?" Ren asked, her voice laced with quiet authority.

Kai hesitated. His protective instincts flared, but this was Ren. And the frail girl was no threat.

"Be quick, Wife," he said, before turning and walking away with the others.

Ren turned to Daniella, her tone shifting into something softer, more intimate. "Not everyone in your village was killed or turned. Our men found a child, Dave. Do you know him?"

A faint light sparked in Daniella’s eyes, the first glimmer of hope breaking through the storm inside her heart.

"Yes. I know him. Is he... is he alright?"

"He’s alive," Ren said gently. "Frightened. But safe."

Daniella’s lips trembled. "He was the only one in the village who feared Victor. The only one who... hated him."

Her voice broke with regret, bitter and fragile.

"Do you want to avenge that?" Ren asked, her words deliberate.

The girl looked up, startled, meeting Ren’s gaze with wide, uncertain eyes.

"I do," she whispered. "He killed my parents... but how can I?"

"Start by giving us everything he ever told you. Everything he showed you. Victor wasn’t just a vampire, he was a killer long before that. I know who he is. I met him once, as a child."

Ren’s voice sharpened, steel beneath sorrow.

"Daniella, kill whatever is left of your feelings for that monster. I watched him slit his nephew’s throat at a royal banquet. The boy was barely more than a child. Only a teenager."

Daniella went pale, her breath caught between disbelief and horror. In that moment, she saw the truth, she had never really known him at all. Only the mask he wore.

Ren leaned closer, her voice soft but unyielding. "Help us, and when this is over, I’ll see that you return to Alvonia. You’ll have a second chance. A new life. This time, live it better."

The girl bowed her head, the flicker of light in her eyes dimming once more. "I don’t have a purpose anymore," she murmured. "It feels like there’s nothing left in my chest but a hollow where my heart used to be."

Ren crouched slightly, leveling her gaze with the girl. "Think about it. Even little Dave chose to stay. He found new parents... and a reason to live. Live for yourself, not anybody else."

Without waiting for a response, she turned and stepped out of the cell. Coran followed close behind, to continue with the rest.

Just two days ago, Ren had visited Dave at the gardener’s cottage near the castle’s edge. She had knelt before the child and asked if he wanted to return to the life he’d known or start anew. Without hesitation, he’d chosen to stay. He said he wanted to grow stronger... to train at the military academy.

It was forbidden, of course, humans weren’t allowed to be trained among wolves or shifters. But Ren had asked Kai to make an exception. And he had.

Now, stepping out of the prison’s gloom, they made their way toward the meeting hall. The air was thick with anticipation. As planned, the commanders would gather there, every detail, every location, every rumor would lay bare.

Kai was already planning the next move. He wouldn’t wait for fate to play its hand. He would strike first, target every stronghold, unravel every thread of Luther’s web.

The war had already begun. He wouldn’t stand and watch him butcher his people.

Agara stood at the head of the room, eyes scanning the report Calisa had handed him. The young hawk was sharp, and talented beyond his years. In time, he’d make a fine elder.

He rolled the scroll closed just as the heavy doors creaked open. A group stepped inside.

Agara’s gaze sharpened. "That’s it? I thought we were meeting your commanders and Alphas," he barked.

Kai ignored him. "We will. After this private council. I’ve already sent white crows to every pack and clan."

They moved around the long table, the atmosphere heavy with expectation. Ren’s eyes fell upon a strange map laid at its center, larger than anything she’d seen before. It wasn’t a thick paper or any fabric she recognized. The material shimmered faintly under the torchlight, textured like woven stone. Was it made of leather?

And then her breath hitched. There, etched into the map in bold, ancient script:

The Forbidden Land of the Saints.

What...?
