Chapter 334: Huayuan (4)
"Bojing? Bojing?"
Jia searched all around the streets where they were at but couldn’t find Bojing at all. His number came out to be out of reach as well.
"What are we supposed to do now?"
Mingshen shrugged. "Continue our way towards the plaza?"
Jia’s gaze darkened. "And leave Bojing all alone?"
"You are talking as if he is some helpless child," he snorted. "He is far from it. You know that, right?"
Jia coughed. She was well aware of Bojing’s almost superhuman strength and his title as a nuclear bomb.
"He can protect others but it’s a different case when it comes to himself. How is he supposed to navigate through the streets all by himself? He must be so terrified..."
Mingshen grimaced seeing the concern in her eyes.
"Right now, let’s continue shopping and move along. I am sure he will find his way to us like he had in the horror house."
"But-"
He grabbed her wrist and pushed her into a small boutique closeby. "No buts."
Mingshen whistled as he looked around the boutique. It was a small, welcoming store with a limited stock, nevertheless every piece displayed was a work of art.
His eyes sparkled. "Just perfect. I was in the mood to see Spicy in traditional clothes anyway~"
Her eyes widened. "We are buying a Hanfu?"
"Why not? You will look super sexy."
Her brow twitched. "That is beside the point. I am here for work and it will be hard to move around in Hanfu."
"You should enjoy all types of experiences, Spicy~ I have seen you in a bikini and now it’s time to bless my eyes with Hanfu."
"..."
He looked around but didn’t find the boutique’s owner anywhere. There was a small bell at the counter and he rang it twice. He didn’t get any response, so he rang it twice again.
"Huhhhh...??? Who is it?"
A hand suddenly crept on the table like a zombie. Jia choked with that realistic horror setup.
A middle-aged woman tremblingly and grudgingly willed her body to move. She slightly hiccuped as her gaze fell on the two customers in front of her.
"Who...is the customer here *hiccup*?"
This aunt is completely drunk...Jia coughed.
Mingshen smiled at her. "This is a boutique where you sell traditional clothes. Female traditional clothes."
"Yup!" She threw a drunken look at Mingshen.
"So among Spicy and me here, who do you think could be the customer?"
The woman hiccuped again and squinted her eyes, pointing her finger at Jia first and then at Mingshen. She laughed.
"Either of you?"
Mingshen stared at her. "Clearly, the booze has short circuited some of your logical reasoning wires."
She laughed again with her rosy cheeks. Even with a few grey highlights in her hair, her beautiful face still expressed an innocent elegance.
"Aiyaaa, you cannot be so sure these days my boy. Who knows *hiccup* if you like wearing Hanfu too? All kinds of men with all kinds of taste visit here~" her eyes beautifully twinkled.
Jia burst into a sudden chuckle that she couldn’t control. The image of Mingshen in a Hanfu automatically crept into her mind, making her choke.
"Spicy, I rather you imagine me naked than whatever blasphemous thing you were imagining," he dryly said.
Jia pursed her lips, still trying to stifle her laughter. "Naked is not that fun."
He sneered.
The boutique owner rubbed her eyes and stared at Jia once again, this time more acutely and intently than before. Her eyes were having double visions as the after effect of all the booze she had gulped, yet they glinted with a strange emotion. She looked at her from head to toe, her hands reaching out to hold her face.
"Ling...yun..." she whispered.
Jia blinked. "S-Sorry?
Mingshen raised his brow too.
The woman gently brushed her hands against Jia’s shirt, her collar and then lowered them to touch her badge.
"Mam?"
She drunkenly chuckled. "Lingyun...you came to meet me Lingyun...?"
Jia felt the warmth from her palms on her cheeks and a strange sorrow from her misty eyes.
"I am sorry Mam but I am not Lingyun..."
She laughed. "Of course you are *hiccup* Lingyun. I can recognize you anywhere hehe *hiccup*"
Jia guessed she was thinking of her lover who might be resembling her in some ways. A stabbing pain pierced her chest, seeing her beautiful eyes shine with tears. She looked at Mingshen hesitantly, not knowing what to do.
Mingshen held the owner’s slightly wrinkly hands in his and said, "I think you should take a good look at me instead."
She slowly tore her gaze away from Jia and met his gaze. "You?"
"Yup. Don’t you think this Lingyun you are talking about could be more like me? Handsome and deadly gorgeous?"
She blinked twice, her body slightly wobbling with drunkenness. She pointed her finger at him and chuckled.
"My oh my you are so beautiful. Lingyun is also very handsome just like you teehee..."
He smirked. "I thought so."
"Aiyaaa, you two are so adorable *hiccup*"
It was the first time for Jia ever since stepping in Huayuan that a resident from here didn’t show hostility at her being a cop.
"Can you show us the most beautiful Hanfu you have here?" Mingshen asked.
She grinned and waved her hand in all directions. "You can take any piece you want hahaha! Oh, oh! I will help you choose~ And then *hiccup* we will go to the plaza together~"
Jia asked, "How do you know we were going to the plaza?"
"Because today is the festival!" She brightened. "Everybody will be at the plaza~ It’s a *hiccup* joyous occasion to drink, eat and celebrate~ Hehe, that’s why my son cannot scold me tonight for drinking all I want~"
"I see."
"So come, come," she quickly said, faltering and stumbling in her steps and pushing Jia towards the changing room.
"I will help you *hiccup* change and then I will take you two to the festival together~!"
