Mingshen turned back and smiled. "I have Mom’s blessings now too."

Jia’s gaze darkened.

"Do I look thrilled to you?"

"You will eventually be~"

She squinted her eyes. "Spit out the truth already. What are you plotting?"

Mingshen did say that he wanted to be close to her but he wasn’t so sure in telling her the exact reason for wanting to gain her trust. He thought it would be counterproductive and Jia would become too hypervigilant.

"I want to be close to you."

"Why?"

"So that you can call me anytime you need me!" He chirped joyfully.

"...And why would I need to call you?"

He thought back to last evening for a moment and said, "So that you can hug me like a teddy bear! I will give you free service even in the middle of the night!"

"Huh?" She blinked rapidly, completely baffled.

She stomped towards him and put her hands on her waist. Her eyes shot him a deadly glare. "Be serious, Mingshen!"

He frowned. "I am serious."

She tapped her foot impatiently. She had no clue what was cooking in his mind but she definitely knew that he was upto no good.

"You think just working with me is not enough of an entertainment to you that you directly moved in next door now?"

He blinked once. "I am serious about my intentions."

Her eyes narrowed.

"Why don’t you believe me?"

"Give me one good reason to believe you."

He looked away and the same realization occurred to him as last night.

I just have too much of a bad image in her mind, have I not now?

He sheepishly grinned. "I will become a good boy now."

"Sorry what?" His words buzzed her akin to an electric zap.

"You will see it for yourself."

"Whatever it is, I really don’t want to," she gave him a dry stare.

"Don’t be so mean."

Oh God...is this my reality from now on? Jia was spiraling down into the abyss.

"Wait a minute, who will head the lab in your absence then?"

"My assistants are more than enough," he waved his hand in dismissal, "Plus, I am not really abandoning it. Not like I won’t visit the lab anymore."

"And you think you can...really adjust to an apartment-type lifestyle?"

He beamed. "Considering what we go through during our medical education, I would certify that doctors are very flexible creatures~"

She raised her brow. "Uh-huh. I would really like to see how long that flexibility lasts."

She hung her head low in defeat.

Don’t worry, Jia. Be positive. Mingshen wouldn’t be able to survive living here for long. He will automatically walk his way out in no time.

She willed herself to be strong with that thought.

"Spicy, Spicy," he gleamed. "Come to my house tonight!"

Her expression twisted. "You have been here barely for an hour and you are already crossing your line!?"

He blinked once. "Crossing my line? When did I do that? I want you to invite you for a housewarming - or should it be a house welcoming party? Whatever. Let’s celebrate my moving in~"

He tilted his head meaningfully. "What did you think?"

She threw him a cold look. "Nothing."

"Aish, Spicy. I have been here barely for an hour and you are already thinking about doing naughty stuff?"

He could visibly see the top of her head threatening to explode.

Then another graver thought struck him.

Her eyes widened. "I am not riding in your car."

"Why not?"

She was speechless. "I always take the bus."

"But we have the car right now and the car is more convenient."

She struggled to smile. "Not very convenient for my heart."

"Aren’t doctors flexible creatures?" She smiled.

His brow twitched.

She snorted and resumed walking. She stood at the usual bus stop and looked back to find Mingshen standing beside her.

She pressed her lips. "...Your car is over that side so why are you on this side?"

His eyes twinkled. "I will ride with you together~ Our very first bus ride!"
