The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love -
Chapter 296: Trust
Chapter 296: Trust
Mingshen stood at a corner and furiously waved his hand at Jia from afar. "Wait for me Spicyyyy!! I will be back in a jiffy! Don’t leave without me, okay? Don’t abandon me!"
Jia felt the intense gazes from the passers by and looked down, burying her embarrassed expression. A bunch of high school kids even giggled.
"Your boyfriend is so cute!"
"..."
Just kill me already...
And what happened to Mingshen so suddenly? Asking me strange questions and then speeding off somewhere.
He is getting more and more unpredictable these days...
On the other side, Mingshen dialed a number which he never thought he would in his entire lifetime. His brow twitched when he heard the familiar voice from the other end.
"E-Evil doctor, is it really you calling me? Why? Why would you call me? What happened? Is the world ending today?" Lihua was close to collapse from disbelief.
He smiled. "It’s time to prove me wrong, little chili."
"Huh?"
"Don’t I always blame your limited brain cells and intelligence? Well, it’s certainly lacking in many areas but it’s time to redeem yourself."
"Did you call me so you could insult me?" She gritted her teeth.
"I am giving you a chance to come into my good books."
"Hah! And how will that happen?" Lihua scoffed.
"Spicy and I are working on a case and there is something which is more of your forte."
Lihua beamed emotionally. "You finally believe that there is something in this world which is my forte?"
He sneered. "That is yet to be tested. I am only basing my hypothesis on the fact that that idiot Mafia King married you."
"Hey! Don’t you call my adorable Wei an idiot!" Her nostrils flared.
"Whatever. Time to prove yourself."
She coughed. "Okay, tell me what’s going on."
"So there is a situation. There are three people - one woman and two men. Let’s call them A, B and Z. A is the woman and the other two are men."
"...Why is the third person Z and not C?"
"The second man is average and ok ok anyway so it makes sense that he is far away from the woman."
"Even alphabetically?"
"Yes."
Her brow twitched.
Strange logic...
"Go on."
Mingshen gave a quick look at the back and saw that Jia was patiently waiting for him. He nodded satisfied and went back to his conversation with Lihua.
"So A and Z are supposedly good friends and work together and A and B work together too."
"Okay."
"So B knows that something has been bothering A for a while. Let’s say hypothetically that A was worried and conscious about her weight for some time."
"Okay."
"There have been three instances where B realized that. Once when A was trying on a beautiful and sexy red dress."
"..."
"The second time when A was in a sexy bikini."
"..."
"Both times B clearly saw how A was conscious of her body and how she looked in them."
"Okay."
"B also realized her concern during one fun race he had with her where she was more tired than usual. So B was quite sure of A’s concern."
"Okay."
"But here is the catch. A is a quite stubborn woman. She keeps her problems to herself. She never opened up to B though B tried his best. B is also very handsome and charismatic, yet A remains undeterred."
Lihua grimaced.
I...don’t know why he had to add that handsome and charismatic part...
"But then B heard something that he couldn’t make sense of."
"What was it?"
"He heard that A - who usually hesitates to share her feelings, was very comfortable in telling Z that she missed her mom and dad. She also expressed concern about her weight."
"Uh-huh."
"That’s all."
"Huh? I don’t understand. What is the question here?"
Mingshen frowned. "You are already proving your lack of insight."
Her gaze darkened. "You just told me about the situation but who will tell me what your question is?"
"Isn’t it simple to decipher? Why did A share her feelings with Z and not with B? Where is B lacking in? It’s impossible. He even asked A to tell him what she was worried about, but she looked very confused."
Lihua was speechless. "Obviously! He cannot just ask A and expect her to answer."
"Why not?"
She blinked twice. "Isn’t it simple? A told Z because A and Z are good friends. You said so in the beginning. They work together and are friends too."
"But A and B work together too."
"But a work relationship is different from a friendship. A could share her troubles with Z because they have known each other for a while."
"A and B have also known each other for a while. I would say that they have a very special relationship," he proudly smirked.
"What special relationship? Does A like B romantically?"
Mingshen glanced at Jia once and then back. "A generally feels like killing B on the the spot."
"..."
How the hell is that a special relationship?
"Then are A and B friends?"
He scrunched his brows. "I don’t think so."
"So like you said before, they only have a professional relationship between them. Which is why A cannot readily share it with B."
"Why not?"
Lihua couldn’t understand the source of his confusion.
"Because A doesn’t share the same level of trust she has with Z with B?"
"Trust?"
"Of course. When two people are good friends, they naturally have a level of trust and bond between them. They can share things with each other that they can’t with others."
He stared ahead. "So you mean to say that A doesn’t trust B?"
Lihua coughed.
"I-I mean I won’t go that far. When I say trust, I mean that A probably doesn’t feel as close to B as she does to Z. Things like her mom and dad or her weight are sensitive issues for her, so she would naturally tell it to someone who she feels she has a deeper connection with. Friendship is one such connection because it builds trust between two people. And that is important because people show their most vulnerable side only to people they trust."
