The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love -
Chapter 278: Roulette (3)
Chapter 278: Roulette (3)
The ball spun again and Jia held her breath once again.
Remember Goddess of Luck - this is not my money. This is the devil’s money and I absolutely don’t want any losses for him! Please have mercy on me...
The ball came to a stop and it landed on a black 24.
Fei Nanyou’s expression didn’t look good. The only solace for his loss was the fact that at least, Zhuo Syaoran didn’t win either. Once again, 24 was very close to the corner bet he had placed.
Jia clutched her chest. She felt like a bullet train riding in it.
Th-Thank God...
Mingshen was hardly feeling entertained with her boring bets.
Zhuo Syaoran said, "A pity."
He then smiled at Jia. "Congratulations, Miss. Song. Luck is shining on you today."
"Haha...Th-thanks..."
They placed another round of bets and the third and fourth rounds of the game continued.
Jia and Fei Nanyou jointly won the third round again just like the first one, which brought the latter’s mood right into the happy zone again. Jia had betted on red this time.
In the fourth round, both won once again, this time Jia betting on an odd set of numbers. At that point, she was definitely sure that she had used up her entire lifetime worth of luck.
Is it because it’s my birthday today? She wondered with tears pooling in her eyes.
Zhuo Syaoran lost his bet and he expressed some pity towards his own losses.
Fei Nanyou smirked, feeling extremely happy and on a roll. "Syaoran seems to have the worst luck today."
"Indeed. I am used to it though," he pleasantly smiled back. "Bad luck hardly fazes me anymore."
Jia glanced at his wheelchair and could guess what he must be hinting at with those words.
"Please place your final bets," the croupier curtly requested.
Zhuo Syaoran betted on a street this time with 19, 20 and 21 as his numbers while Fei Nanyou placed a split bet on 26 and 27. Fei Nanyou’s bet was riskier than Zhuo Syaoran’s but he looked confident.
"Miss. Song?"
"I-I..."
Should I go with the even set of numbers this time?
Suddenly, Mingshen announced. "Her bet is on 27."
"..."
Needless to say, Jia wanted to faint.
"Are you...betting on a single number?"
He beamed. "Yup!"
"Out of 36 numbers, you are betting on one number?"
He chirped. "It’s the last round, Spicy. Be more adventurous this time~ Let’s up the stakes a bit. Your reserved side is not sexy at all."
"..."
Lava burst forth the top of her head. "Don’t be an idiot! Like hell I would bet on a single num-"
Mingshen pressed his palm on her lips and said to the croupier. "27. That’s final."
"Mmppff!!" She vigorously shook her head and desperately looked at the croupier while resisting Mingshen’s attempts to shut her up.
"Um..."
Mingshen clarified any doubts he held. "It’s my money. Place the chip on 27."
"Understood."
Jia was horrified as if she saw a ghost.
Understood my foot! Don’t listen to this crazy man! I am playing the game, not him!
Fei Nanyou sneered. "Trying to ride your profits on my bet, Dr. Yang? I didn’t know you had confidence issues."
He smiled back. "We will get to know soon who’s riding on whose luck. Have patience."
His brow twitched.
At last, the wheel and ball spun again. Jia had completely shut her eyes and refused to face reality.
"Spicy, it’s your most interesting bet till now. You should watch it with some zest~"
"Shut up! It’s all your fault that we are gonna lose!" She cried.
She heard the sound of the ball slowly down and ricketing against the wheel. The slower it scraped, the faster her heart beat. When it came to a complete halt, Jia had her heart in her throat.
This is it...I am done for...
She didn’t dare open her eyes and accepted her defeat gracefully. But Mingshen’s continued poking irked her to no ends.
"I won’t forgive you for this!"
"You will actually thank me. Look, you won~"
Jia zapped her eyes open and blankly stared at him. She then slowly looked in the wheel’s direction and to her extreme shock that fell on her like lightning, she saw that the small ball had landed on the number 27.
H-How....?
No, no, no, the Goddess of Luck cannot be that lenient towards me!
Everybody in the crowd visibly gasped in disbelief. Jia had won the riskiest of the bets followed by Fei Nanyou. Not only that, she had also won all rounds.
Fei Nanyou’s joy knew no bounds. "Ahahaha! Yeah that’s how it’s played honey~ I lost only one round which this round’s money will easily make up for the losses~"
Everybody cheered and congratulated them.
Mingshen was extremely pleased. "This is much more like our style~ See? I was right. Your birthdate proved to be lucky for you~"
Jia’s eyes widened and she realized that 27 was actually her birth date, which was today.
"You betted based on just that notion?"
"Why not? Shouldn’t your birthday be lucky for you~" he innocently blinked.
"You..."
Zhuo Syaoran said, "Oh it’s Miss. Song’s birthday? A very happy birthday to you," he sincerely wished her.
"Thank you..."
Mingshen sneered at Fei Nanyou. "I think you should be thanking somebody now. Clearly, it wasn’t your luck but Spicy’s."
A vein popped on his forehead. But he maintained his smile. "I believe my luck had a big part to play too. So no thanks."
Heh, so naive, Fei Nanyou sneered in his mind.
"Poor Syaoran did not not win a single round," he smiled with sympathy. "Don’t lose heart. Better luck next time."
He flailed his arms sideways in defeat. "Alas."
Fei Nanyou didn’t linger around for more and left in an extremely jolly mood, whistling to himself.
Mingshen commented as soon as he left their view.
"So naive of him to think that I am naive."
Jia blinked. "Huh?"
He shrugged. "Obviously I knew the wheel was rigged and so did..." he stared at Zhuo Syaoran, "you."
