The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love
Chapter 201: The right thing

Chapter 201: The right thing

"How could you do this!"

Jin demanded answers from his parents, enraged.

"Why did you reveal the surgery to the police!?"

Mrs. Xiong was exasperated. "Think about the situation from our perspective, Jin. Do you even know that Ehuang’s parents were shamelessly throwing all the blame to you? That you are a bad boy who is manipulating her into going against her parents and how you are brainwashing her! They even dug your middle school records!"

"So what!?"

Mr. Xiong pressed his brows. "You might think that we acted cruelly but all we did was to protect you. The defense lawyer would have left no stone unturned to blame you for this too - that you brainwashed Ehuang into stubbornly going for the procedure despite that it was her decision to which Dr. Yang agreed.

These are all serious allegations, Jin. Even Ehuang’s testimony doesn’t matter anymore because everybody has been made to believe that you are behind it. She is doing this because she only listens to you."

Mrs. Xiong nodded. "Look Jin. We are not against Ehuang or your relationship. We do believe she suffered a lot. But we cannot see the blame being pinned upon you either! This is all very complicated and beyond your understanding."

Jin gritted his teeth. "Y-you are horrible! Sis Jia and Dr. Yang only wanted to help Ehuang because the court didn’t. But because you exposed everything, sis Jia..."

"Hm? Spicy what?"

The trio stiffened when the sound of Mingshen’s footsteps echoed deeply. He watched the family of three with interest.

"What were you talking about Spicy?"

Jin paled.

He would be definitely furious to know what you did!

Mrs. Xiong coughed and elbowed her husband to which his brow twitched.

"What have you done? Because I can smell trouble," he arched.

Mr. Xiong gave up with the anxiety spiking his blood and said, "We are sorry, Dr. Yang. I understand that you are a good doctor and you only did to help Ehuang, but we couldn’t let our son get mixed up in this grave offense. That’s why...that’s why we went ahead and told everything to the police about you going against the court order to do the surgery."

Mrs. Xiong sweated.

W-will he kill us now?

But to their surprise, Mingshen was hardly fazed. "I see. Parents love and protection over something that wasn’t even necessary. Did you really think any teenage brat is capable of convincing any doctor to go against medical ethics at the cost of their license? Seriously?"

They were stumped to speak.

"The accusations of manipulating Ehuang are still understandable for argument’s sake. She is in love with your son. But I am not."

"..."

"I mean...that’s obvious," Mr. Xiong was unsure of how to react.

"So it should also be obvious that I wouldn’t do something against any medical practices just because he or Ehuang wants it. He can brainwash her all he wants but what’s the point if he cannot brainwash the doctor-in-charge?"

The couple didn’t know what to say.

"So the lawyer could have rambled all he wanted against Jin in the court but eventually, the crime would have fallen on me only. That is my burden to bear."

Mingshen then flashed a charming smile. "And so I believe that Spicy would be coming up anytime soon with handcuffs to arrest me. Ah, that sounds very tempting~"

"How will she come to arrest you when she is herself arrested?" Mrs. Xiong asked, puzzled.

"...Sorry? Who is arrested?"

"Inspector Song Jia, the one who told you to go ahead with the surgery in exchange of protecting you."

Mingshen blinked twice.

"Say that again."

"Inspector Song Jia confessed to her supervisor that it was her who went against the court’s order and told you to perform the surgery. She surrendered herself and as of now, she is suspended from her duty."

The air in the bureau went completely still but chilly as a pair of footsteps silently marched in. Everybody present strangely felt a heaviness strangle their necks.

The ever so joyful Yang Mingshen’s expression wasn’t so friendly today.

Xiang, whose eyes were swollen and reddened at that point because of Jia’s arrest, jolted as soon as he saw a tall figure imposing upon him.

"Dr. Yang...!" He stood up swiftly.

"Where is Spicy?"

"I-In the custody room."

"Take me there."

"But nobody is allowed to meet her-"

Mingshen’s one gaze was enough to send shivers down across his spine. Clearly, he wasn’t in the mood to hear a no.

"It’s okay. I will take him."

Huojin came to his rescue and threw an unreadable glance at Mingshen. "You will have only fifteen minutes more or less."

"I will stay for as long as I want to."

"This is the bureau. It has some rules and I am already way out of my leg to help you out so take it or leave it," Huojin didn’t budge to his pressure.

Mingshen narrowed his eyes and said nothing. He simply walked ahead and Huojin took that as a yes.

Jia was staring at the ceiling wall and sighed for the hundredth time by now.

So this is how it feels being on the other side of the table...

She heard the click of the door’s handle and the creak of the door opening. She couldn’t help but let out a smile.

"Huojin, Sir is going to pull your ears hard for showing me special treatment. I already said I won’t take your chips and snacks. You are not supposed to spoil me in this situation."

To her surprise, when she didn’t hear a response, she tore her gaze away from the ceiling and faced the figure in the front. Her eyes slightly widened, taken aback by his appearance.

Mingshen cut straight to the chase. "Why are you here?"

"Is there something wrong?"

"I think I skipped the part when you became the doctor, did the surgery and is getting her license revoked."

"Don’t worry, you didn’t skip any part. I am still a cop. Not at the moment though."

"That’s the whole point. Why aren’t you still a cop? I didn’t tell you to protect me. I don’t need it."

"If that is what you think. But I did it anyway."

He was losing his patience. "Kindly enlighten me as to your intentions because for the first time, I feel like diving into your brain rather than your heart."

Jia smiled. "Because medicine is your pride and you didn’t fuck around with it. You made a sound decision and I respect you for it despite the judgement. You are a good doctor, Mingshen. You deserve to hold onto your license with pride because you did the right thing."
