From the other side, Chow Mey and the others walked over and they, too, were puzzled at the new face.

Bai Caishen raised his brow and felt his face familiar.

Have I seen him somewhere before?

It was only Lei Honghui who had recognized him with a soft gasp. "Mr. Hou Tengqi."

"Who?"

Seeing Dong Haoyu beside her, Lei Honghui couldn’t help but throw a sour look, thinking of the failed arrest. Nevertheless, he answered.

"The one and only Hou family of the Politburo Standing Committee."

Jia’s eyes widened. She stared at him from head to toe once again.

Guo Juan scrunched up her brows. "What committee?"

She coughed. "Politburo Standing Committee. It’s the topmost decision making body of Communist Party of China. They are like super top brass of our country’s governance and policies. Very powerful and influential politically. Which is why...I am shocked to see that a person from such a family doesn’t have at least five cars and bodyguards surrounding him. His father is one of the seven core members of the Committee, after all."

Bai Caishen then remembered that he has heard of the Hou family now and then. Hou Tengqi’s name was mentioned just once or twice because the children of the Hou family were never much in the limelight. It was easy to forget them.

Hou Tengqi blinked at her. "I didn’t want to unnecessarily call my guards."

"I believe your chief of security would have planned a very meticulous security detail for you. It would pain him immensely to hear this."

Lei Honghui almost clutched his chest.

People who knew the Hou family would never even dream of talking in a way and in the tone Jia did. She wasn’t rude with her attitude, but she wasn’t fumbling after meeting a member from one of the highest ranking families’ either. People could barely form a full sentence in front of them and here she was going one step ahead of not just talking to him but chiding Hou Tengqi.

Hou Tengqi stared at her.

The remaining member, a certain devil, finally made his entry with a lazy yawn escaping his lips.

"She is directly calling you irresponsible. Your confused face is almost cute," Mingshen smiled.

Hou Tengqi’s expression immediately took a one eighty turn at his appearance. "Dr. Yang Mingshen. Fancy seeing you here."

Jia was a little surprised that Hou Tengqi personally knew Mingshen. But the Yang family equally held a powerful position in the Underworld.

Maybe it wasn’t that impossible...

Jia saw a visible change in Hou Tengqi’s aura that exuded a hint of callousness.

I don’t think he is that happy to see Mingshen here.

She paused.

But then again, nobody generally is.

"I feel you are thinking something very insulting about me, Spicy~" he pouted.

Lei Honghui asked, "Mr. Hou, is there any specific reason for you to come here personally?"

I didn’t get any information that Hou Tengqi was personally coming to Tianjin, he thought. It would have been big news.

Hou Tengqi gave him a pleasant smile. "I thought about surprising my Rinrin. I guess I won."

Meng Rin couldn’t stop herself from escaping a light shudder the moment she heard her name from his lips.

Chow Mey glanced back and forth between him and Meng Rin. "...My Rinrin? Wait, so you are...?"

He smiled again. "Well, we wanted to keep it a secret for a while but oopsie I guess~"

Mingshen cocked his brow up and glanced at Meng Rin once.

Guo Juan, Zeng Shan and even Ke Yufei couldn’t hold back the shock from covering their faces. They never thought that Meng Rin would turn out to have such an influential boyfriend. If things worked out well between them, then she would become the daughter-in-law of such a prestigious family.

"Oh my gosh..." Guo Juan covered her lips with her palms. "That’s amazing!"

For some inexplicable reason, Chow Mey couldn’t express the same thrill. It was the same case with Bai Caishen, too, who was quietly being the spectator.

Dong Haoyu tapped her shoulder and whispered. "Is anything the matter?"

She wasn’t sure of her own thoughts, so she kept silent. "Nothing. It’s just really shocking to know."

On the other side, Bojing gently held Meng Rin’s shoulder and helped her stand on her feet. "L-Let me help you."

Without even looking at Hou Tengqi, she was swift to say and bring some distance between them, "I-I am feeling much better now."

"Y-you don’t look like it. I will get some medicine for you-"

"No, no! Like I said..." she tried to smile. "It isn’t aching anymore."

"Now, now Rinrin," he smiled. "If he insists that you need help then you need help. Don’t be stubborn. But I believe they work for Dr. Yang, am I correct? So I am not really sure if Dr. Yang will permit her treatment."

Jia and Lei Honghui cast a bewildered look.

"After all, the Yang family is known for being choosy with patients," his eyes ever so slightly squinted.

Mingshen sheepishly grinned and waved his hand in dismissal. "You flatter me too much. I just pour my magic where my heart tells me to~ Right now, my heart indeed tells me that this poor girl needs some help. Stomach aches can be really nasty. Right, right?"

It was faint but Jia definitely felt the change in the temperature that emanated more from Hou Tengqi’s side.

Just what is the history between them? Damn I am curious now!

Mingshen instructed Bojing. "Take her inside."

"Yes, Boss."

Hou Tengqi smiled. "I will accompany you too."

Meng Rin slightly gulped.

"It’s treatment time. You stay outside," he ordered in a tone of his medical capacity before which Hou Tengqi stood still.

"Sure. As Dr. Yang says."

Shilin said, "I will help Senior Lu," he politely smiled and left.

Now that the suddenness of his visit dissipated, Zeng Shan remembered her original argument and exclaimed.

"Inspector Lei, did you hear what I said before! Somebody definitely forced Manchu and you have to find out about him!"

Lei Honghui was exasperated.

"Miss. Zeng. We will explore that possibility but we cannot give you any guarantee. Investigation also takes time, so please be patient."

Hou Tengqi blinked his eyelids rapidly and his head tilted. "This seems to be an interesting conversation. Please tell me more about it."
