The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love -
Chapter 140: Like oil and water
Chapter 140: Like oil and water
"Aunt, I think I misheard you-"
Jia shuddered with the change in the air that seemed to flow more in Mingshen’s favor than anything. He looked so dazzling that it was blinding.
"You planned for me to accompany Spicy?"
Yang Binging scowled. "Of course! Why would I let her go alone in this condition? I am not stupid."
"Mom, did I ever say how much I love you?"
She scorned. "You are too busy fantasizing your own parents as research subjects one day so no, you haven’t."
Mingshen chuckled. "It’s an interesting thought after all. I should thoroughly study the source of my genes, right?"
"So you will dump us into that cold lab instead of giving us a proper funeral!? Have I given birth to a monster?"
You are not far from that assumption, Aunt. But back to the topic!
"Aunt, thank you so much for the good thoughts but I will pass."
"No, no! Please don’t deny it. Don’t you want to visit a new place too?"
"Not with Mingshen, that’s for sure," she smiled dryly.
"..."
"Not for the sake of my autograph either?" She wiped her eyes in which Jia failed to see any tears.
Jia blinked. "I am sure nothing is impossible for Yang Bingqing. You have your ways, after all."
The corner of her mouth twitched.
I spoke too soon I guess.
"S-so will you go if Mingshen doesn’t come with you?"
He sneered. "You change your colors faster than a chameleon, Mom."
"Get out."
"Like I said, I feel very comfortable here."
Jia was about to reject again when Yang Bingqing used her ultimate pitiful move. "Please Jia. Can you not do this much for your aging Aunt? I will fulfill my dream of meeting Bai Caishen through you. I cannot go thanks to my stubborn husband but you can give me live updates~!"
"..."
"I..." she helplessly said, "I cannot guarantee but I will think about it."
That was enough of an answer for Yang Bingqing. "Thank you!"
"And with due respect, no Mingshen."
He clicked his tongue. "Don’t be so afraid of giving into your temptation, Spicy."
"Yes, I am indeed afraid that my temptation to kill you will consume me eventually. I am talking about your safety here," she said with contempt.
"Spicy worrying about my safety like that makes me want to hug you~"
"Yeah try that and there won’t be a body left to hug anymore," she grimaced.
She got up and bowed. "Thank you so much for the wonderful lunch, Aunt. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Watching the drama with you was fun too."
"Are you leaving?" Yang Bingqing looked dissatisfied.
"Yes, Aunt. I will let you know about Tianjin."
"Fine..." she mumbled. "But do keep coming here! Being with you is so much fun, otherwise Mingshen just makes me tear my hair out."
He yawned. "Careful, Mom. At your age, don’t take away the remaining hair strands that are already on their deathbed."
Jia puked blood.
Yang Bingqing’s lips trembled and curled with angry laughs. "I am only fifty-six, Mingshen."
"Remove the only before fifty-six."
It was as if the third world war would start right here in Yang Cheng’s study. "Just ignore him, Aunt. That’s the only way to get mental peace."
She cried. "That’s why I want to spend more time with you! My son is useless."
Jia stared at her genuine eyes that held love and warmth. Something tugged at her chest and she lowered her gaze. "I will try to meet you whenever I can get the time from cases..."
"Oh my, that’s wonderful~!"
Jia bowed again and quickly turned to leave. She slightly hissed with pain as she took a sudden turn.
"Careful dear," Yang Bingqing said with concern. She bent and gently rubbed her knee. "Does it still hurt?"
"It-It’s okay, Aunt. You don’t have to-"
"Why not? You might or might not become my daughter-in-law but I adore you very much~"
Her words put her at a loss.
Mingshen’s question broke her reverie. "Why are you in such a hurry to leave, Spicy?"
Jia looked back and found him staring at her with intent.
"I have intruded enough."
"Aww, you will break Mom’s heart like that~"
Yang Bingqing shot him a glare. "Nobody is capable of breaking my heart more than you, you devil of a son."
He waved his hand. "Enough with the compliments, Mom. Sometime you will really kill me with so much love."
Jia crossed by Mingshen at the door and seeing his secrecy laced smile only irked her. "What?"
"Nothing~ Have you ever seen bubbles, Spicy?"
Her eyes narrowed at the question she had thrown at him a few hours ago herself.
"They pop. Yours will too."
"I am not living in a bubble."
"It’s adorable you think that," he chuckled.
He watched her leave with an annoyed mood that was always the case whenever she talked to him.
He thought it was over but it wasn’t. A guard came to his side and said, "Sir, there is a package for you."
He took it and cocked his brow. There wasn’t any sender name on it. The guard bowed and left.
Mingshen opened the box and found a bunch of boxers neatly wrapped inside. He blinked rapidly and stared at it.
"What is that?"
Yang Bingqing curiously dropped her head to see. "Is that underwear? Wait, who gave you underwear!?"
Her mind couldn’t process this shock. She picked one of them and immediately felt as if her soul flew away. "Mingshen...W-Why is the size of these boxers so small?"
Mingshen’s lips twitched. He picked a note and read.
’I really appreciate your thoughtful gift, Dr. Yang. It is only appropriate that I send you my regards too. Hope you have a better and wider range of a collection now...for your true size~
Killingly,
Song Jia.’
A chuckle burst out his lips which didn’t hold any amusement. His black eyes glowed dangerously as his brows continued twitching.
Yang Bingqing sneakily read the note too and pressed her lips hard to control her laughter from erupting. "Oh my."
"Control your emotions, Mom," he sneered.
Yang Cheng, too, stepped out of the room just then when he noticed the gift box. He stared at the boxer in his wife’s hand and his brows furrowed. He glanced at Mingshen questioningly.
"You are that small?"
Yang Bingqing choked hard. She couldn’t hold back anymore and rolled into laughter. "S-stop please...I-I am getting dizzy..."
Mingshen’s smile grew only more precarious. "I am endowed with perfect qualities, Dad."
"The woman you slept with would know better than you."
"We haven’t slept together."
"Then how does she know your size?"
"She doesn’t know my size, Dad."
"Then why did she send this gift to you?"
Yang Bingqing rolled her eyes. "This is what we call playing tit for tat, my dear husband."
Yang Cheng didn’t understand but he didn’t exert any more energy on the subject. He left while murmuring, "I thought men in this family had normal size..."
The whispering words still fell on Mingshen’s ears and his gaze darkened. "I will make her pay for this."
A snack landed on the back of his head and he squinted his eyes at his mother. "I don’t appreciate that slap, Mom."
"You will only get slaps if you bully her! Here, I am trying my hardest to set you two up and you always wash water over all my efforts. How will I get my grandchild then?"
He gave her a dry look. "Why are you so obsessed with a grandchild?"
"Because I feel jealous of Yubi. She has such adorable grandchildren," she burst into tears. "I want a cute grandchild like Weiyun and Limei too! When are you going to give me one? You are almost thirty!"
He shrugged. "Whatever your wishes are, Spicy and me are impossible~"
"Why? She is the only one who can set you straight. She is perfect!" she cried emotionally.
He smiled. "I am an enemy for her and she is simply entertainment for me. I am that oil kind of a presence in her life who will keep sticking out on the water’s surface like a sore thumb. When has oil and water ever lived lovingly~?"
