Chapter 131: The cooperation contract
Chapter 131: The cooperation contract
Jia walked in with her crutch’s support. Her gaze alternated between Mingshen and Wen Luoyoang.
The latter was puzzled. "Why are the cops here? I do have a valid license for your information."
Huojin smiled. "We are not here for a surprise check."
A dazzling ray of light escaped from Mingshen’s demeanor. "Spicy! How are you here? Did you miss me so much that you thought to stalk me even when being injured~ Or is it that the thought of being my patient is too tempting to ignore?"
Wen Luoyoang stared at Mingshen with disbelief.
How could he talk to a cop like that?
Jia asked, "Have you ever seen bubbles, Mingshen?"
"Obviously."
"They pop. Try not to inflate your self-importance till it reaches that point," she icily curled her lips into a dry smile.
He laughed. "I am so touched by your concern. Soooo, how did you like my gift~"
He threw a teasing wink at Huojin. "I think you should be expressing your gratitude to me right now."
"For exactly what?"
"I just saved what otherwise would have been a sorry sex life."
"..."
Jia’s gaze darkened. Huojin was at a loss. "Excuse me, my sex life?"
"A word more and just face the consequences," Jia threateningly smiled.
Her gaze fell on the tattoo picture on Mingshen’s phone and she tilted her head. "What is that?"
"A challenge~"
"Sorry?"
Jia thought that he was speaking his usual gibberish so she cut to the chase. "We need to talk to you. Privately."
"Sorry for breaking your heart, but I am a little occupied at the moment," he replied with lament.
"It’s important," Huojin backed her up.
"So is my work here."
"To get a tattoo?"
"To know the origins of a tattoo," he smiled, pointing at his phone.
Jia heaved out a deep breath. "Mingshen, it’s really important. Why haven’t we gotten the details of those three men from your hospital?"
"Aaah. So it’s about that," he arched his brow.
Huojin said, "We need their pictures and all their information."
"You won’t get it."
"Why not?"
"Because they never were in my hospital in the first place."
Jia threw him a look as if he went crazy. "They were taken to your hospital. Are you high early in the morning?"
He smiled. "I am always high on the sheer disbelief about my perfection."
Their jaws dropped, especially Wen Luoyoang’s whose was the first time to witness such craziness.
"This is not the time to joke, Mingshen. We need to know who they were and what they wanted from Zhang Luqi."
"That’s part of the reason why I am here~"
"At a tattoo shop? Please explain to me how."
"That’s a super long story."
"We are all ears until we get the answers."
Mingshen threw a glance at Wen Luoyoang. "You have coffee? I only drink coffee made out of pure grounded coffee beans."
"I don’t have that here."
"Then bring me only water. These two can have inexpensive instant coffee."
—
Wen Luoyoang left inside his other work area, leaving Mingshen, Jia and Huojin to give some space to talk. After a detailed explanation of the saga that started from Dai Yaling’s murder case, he made his way upto the point that brought him to the tattoo shop today.
"And so that’s why you cannot get any information sadly~"
Jia and Huojin stared at him blankly for a long time.
Mingshen casually sipped on his water. "Did you not understand any part?"
"Yes, we didn’t."
"Which is?"
"Why the hell did you not mention anything about this to us earlier?" Jia asked in a very quiet but seething voice.
Mingshen looked back, surprised. "Why should I?"
She was left dumbfounded. "Why shouldn’t you? Wang Lei, who was a part of the drug supply chain, turned out to have a mysterious tattoo on his neck and so did his friends. They died under mysterious circumstances in your lab and even threatened you to stay out of this mess.
Now more people having the same tattoo appeared before us again to harm Zhang Luqi. They went as far as disguising themselves as fake nurses and taking away the dead bodies just so that we shouldn’t be able to trace them and after all of this, you think it wasn’t important to keep us in the loop?"
"No."
Her gaze darkened. She would have jumped upon him to strangle him had Huojin not stopped her.
Huojin asked, "What is the reason for not telling us?"
Mingshen shrugged. "What did you or Spicy have anything to do with it anyway?"
"We were involved in the cases for God’s sake!" Jia erupted in frustration. "And even if we weren’t, this is still a police matter."
"It’s not. It’s my matter."
"How?"
Mingshen drew out a long sigh. He took out his tab, did some rapid taps in succession and handed it over to them.
Jia frowned. Huojin scooted closer to her and read what was in it.

"Why are you smirking like an idiot? Hasn’t the Underworld then already violated two of the clauses from here?"
