The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love -
Chapter 117: The same tattoo
Chapter 117: The same tattoo
There were two ambulances called at Zhang Luqi’s apartment. One was for Lim and Jia and the other for the three goons. Lim was placed on a stretcher as the nurses swiftly took control of the situation. What they couldn’t digest were the three dead men, especially the one with a syringe sticking out of his left eye.
Calm down. We have seen worse. Yes, we have seen worse.
Jia’s tense shoulders finally loosened up seeing Lim safely taken away in the ambulance. One of the nurses came to her and politely said, "Mam, let me help you."
"Do I really need to be admitted too?"
She smiled. "Yes Mam. It’s important we understand the severity of your injury. Important ligaments could be affected. It could affect your ability to walk."
"Couldn’t it be just a sprain?"
"I don’t see it as just an innocent sprain seeing how you really need support with your walking."
Jia sighed.
"Also, Dr. Yang has specifically ordered us to ignore whatever you say. In his experience, cops are the most stubborn and pain in the ass patients."
"..."
Her brow twitched. "...Why do I feel that you feel the same way as him?"
She pleasantly smiled back. "I will help you, Mam."
She does feel the same way.
Jia looked around and noticed that Mingshen still wasn’t back from the bedroom. She didn’t know what he was doing but urged the nurse to quickly take her away before he would return and bother her again.
"Let’s go."
The nurse laughed. "You will meet Dr. Yang in the hospital anyway. It’s the Yang family’s hospital after all."
"..."
I think she hates me, Jia concluded.
—
The other nurses in the bedroom were occupied with taking the three men to the hospital as well where they would directly land in the morgue. One nurse shuddered to touch the man with the syringe in his eye.
"Any problem?" Mingshen asked with a smile.
He vigorously shook his head. "Not at all!"
One nurse was busy rolling the third man on the stretcher when Mingshen said, "Wait."
"Yes, Dr. Yang?"
With his hands in his coat’s pockets, he stared acutely at a particular part of his body. Mingshen bent closer and lightly moved the hair strands aside from the back of his neck.
The nurse peered in as well. "That’s a cool tattoo. But shouldn’t it have been He instead of She?"
Mingshen arched his brow and looked at the nurse. "You think so?"
"I mean he is a man so..." he sheepishly said, "And to be honest the tattoo doesn’t suit him, considering how he and his friends were abusing a woman in the first place. He didn’t seem much of a feminist."
"Valid point. So what do you think it means?"
The nurse was prideful of him being a veteran conspiracy theorist. "It could be an acronym for something. The beginning letter of three words could start from S, H and E. I have seen that in many movies.".
"But the letters h and e are in lower case here. So, maybe it does mean the pronoun She after all. What is your next best guess?" Mingshen asked.
The other nurses were done taking the remaining two men into the ambulance van.
"I still think it could be an acronym for something. It just feels it’s written in a fancier way," he shrugged. "Can I ask what you think, Dr. Yang?"
"There are all kinds of people," he replied, his eyes lighting up like a Christmas tree, "I have seen people tattoo the things they hate the most on their bodies too. Love makes people do certain crazy things and so does hate."
"So you mean he tattooed the pronoun because he actually hates women? That’s twisted..."
"When has the world been ever sane? But this begs a question. Out of so many women residing in Beijing, why did these three men choose to trouble the owner of this particular house only?"
The nurse thoughtfully touched his chin. "Maybe Mrs. Zhang caught somebody’s eye from their group and they followed her all the way here? Nasty perverts are hiding in plain sight all around us, Sir," he sadly shook his head.
Outside, the second ambulance was ready to leave with the three goons. The first ambulance with Lim and Jia had already left for the hospital.
Mingshen opened the door to his lavish limousine when he got a call from his hospital.
"Yes?"
"We are extremely sorry, Dr. Yang! The first ambulance with the two officers has reached the hospital, but the second ambulance is unfortunately taking some time to arrive at your place. There has been a very serious accident near an IT industrial complex, so they are stuck on the way. But they are doing everything they can to arrive as soon as possible!"
Mingshen stared ahead. "...The second ambulance is still on its way?"
"Yes, Dr. Yang. Really apologies for the delay!"
At the same time, he heard the roaring sound of an engine coming to life. He turned and watched the nurse he talked with before smiling at him. From the small round window on the ambulance’s door, the nurse turned his head and revealed his neck to Mingshen.
Mingshen stared at the three familiar black letters etched on his neck just like they were on the goon’s neck.
She.
The man waved him goodbye with a teasing chuckle, and the fake ambulance sped away from Mingshen’s sight.
—
"Medial Collateral Ligament injury," Mingshen said as he was studying Jia’s knee X-Ray report. "Grade II MCL sprain characterized by a partial disruption of the medial collateral ligament, manifesting as localized tenderness, slight instability, and a palpable joint effusion. It demonstrates a moderate severity level, necessitating conservative management with focused physical therapy and temporary bracing to facilitate ligamentous healing and optimize knee joint stability."
Jia’s blank expression was almost comical. "Talk Mandarin to me. English is also fine."
"That was your diagnosis, Spicy~"
"I didn’t sign up for a foreign language diagnosis."
The nurse beside him coughed. "Simply put, the ligament at the back of your knee is sprained."
"So it was a sprain like I guessed."
"Yes, but it’s not like a regular sprain that would be healed by some sprain relief spray or pain meds. You will need physical therapy and temporary bracing to help you walk."
"How long would that take?"
"Three to six weeks."
Her eyes widened. "That long?"
Mingshen smiled. "The kick was that strong."
"Wait, I don’t need to be in the hospital for that long, right?"
"What’s the problem, Spicy? We can spend some quality time together~ You back on the hospital bed evokes so many fond memories for me," he shone a tad brighter than necessary.
"I would rather spend some quality time in the morgue," she dryly replied.
The nurse coughed again. "You can be discharged today, but you need to regularly attend the physiotherapy sessions. I will get your appointments lined up."
"Thank you so much."
Mingshen sighed. "It’s a great regret to say that I need to part with you for some time."
"Happiest time of my life," she smiled.
"Don’t miss me too much~"
—
The head nurse stood before Mingshen in his office. "You called for me, Dr. Yang?"
"How many ambulances do we have here?"
"There are fifteen ambulance vans in this hospital, Dr. Yang," she curtly replied.
"It’s not fifteen anymore. It’s fourteen. I want you to track the stolen one."
"I am sorry, Dr. Yang. But there is no missing ambulance van in our fleet. The one which was stuck in traffic today and later you said that it wasn’t required is also back."
"One has been stolen for sure. I saw it with my own eyes. Fake nurses were driving it away."
The head nurse threw him a blank look. "No, there is some misunderstanding here, Dr. Yang. The staff here has checked all the ambulance vans as usual. They are full of fifteen of them and in excellent condition. Nothing is stolen."
