Chapter 573: Baby is the center of the universe

"Oh, you people are here."

Natha came at the end of our tea time, glancing at the guest briefly, kissed me briefly, and made an immediate beeline to our baby. He took Shwa from Angwi’s arms and walked around the room with a baby in his arms, stroking the dark hair and talking in a whisper with him.

"As if we are invisible," Zia scoffed. "Doesn’t even care that his cute, hardworking niece is here after two months."

I shook my head exasperatedly. "He used to check up on me every few hours before--now he barely gives me a glance if Shwa is in the same room."

And to think he refused to stay with Shwa during his birth...see how he immediately shifted now? Well, not that I have any complaints about him putting so much attention to his mini version--and it was super adorable anyway--but it was fun talking smack about your husband with your friends.

Of course, the one who always had a beef with Natha chimed in eagerly. "Natha don’t play with Jade again," the little boy climbed to my lap. "Don’t read picture books for Jade again."

I thought you didn’t like to spend time with him? I squeezed his cheeks while stifling my laugh. Hmm...if it came to it, Jade did not act as jealous as I thought he would be. Even though our focus all shifted to Shwa, he did not throw a tantrum and said things like I didn’t love him anymore.

But then again, Jade spent all his time in the nursery--playing with Shwa when the baby was awake and reading the picture books that Zarfa gifted them when the baby was asleep.

It was good that we had a lot of nannies because turned out, they had to babysit my eldest child too.

"Your husband’s priority had shifted, huh?" Zarfa laughed.

"Just like yours," I shrugged, and she laughed even louder.

"Well," unbeknownst to us, Natha had walked to the couch and leaned against the backrest right behind me. "What can I do when my husband only talks about Shwa and always in the nursery when I check on him?"

"Oh, so your priority shifted too," Zia nudged me in return, and what could I do but laugh awkwardly?

Well, let’s just all agree that our attention shifted to our baby, who was more beautiful than the blooming flower outside.

"But it’s like arriving in another world here," Izzi muttered as he looked outside the window occupying our view in front of our couch. "Are all these flowers blooming for your baby?"

"Of course! Because Shwa is flower!" Jade spread his arms and stood up on my lap so he could see the baby in Natha’s arms. "All flower go boom and puff when Shwa is born!"

"Wow~" both Zia and Zarfa clapped their hands enthusiastically, while Izzi looked at me with narrowed eyes.

I shrugged. What could I say; I wasn’t conscious to witness it. Oh, how sad. Actually, Jade also did not see it because he was busy screaming and crying in Lesta’s arms at that time. But he heard the servants all talked about it and had been telling anyone new about it too.

"For me, it’s always a different kind of world," Zarfa laughed. "It’s the end of summer in the Human Realm."

"Oh, right!"

"Talking about the Human Realm," Natha got off the backrest and returned Shwa--who had fallen asleep--to Angwi. "I thought you’d come with that girl."

"Oh, Aina?" Zarfa put her teacup down. "She was in her lab when the news came, being all serious, so I didn’t want to disturb her. I think she became extremely motivated after seeing that transfusion thing--of right!"

Zarfa snapped her fingers and pointed at Izzi, who cluelessly blinked while eating his cookie.

"I think she’ll come if she knows Izzi is here!"

Zia stiffened and shifted closer to Izzi, as if to cage him from going anywhere. "W-why?"

"Nothing like whatever you think!" Izzi spoke swiftly, shaking his head and glaring at the giggling Zarfa.

"Because she wants to talk about the transfusion, of course," Zarfa shrugged and covered her smirking mouth. "Oh, my...what did you think would happen, Matriarch?"

The pink skin of our young clan head became even redder. "N-n-nothing?!"

"Wow~you’re jealous because of that?" I chuckled, recalling the outburst incident that revealed Zia’s feelings. She was jealous of Neel then, and she was suspicious of Aina now.

But I forgot that this girl stored all of my secrets too. "I don’t want to hear that from someone who cried a lot because he thought his lover loved someone else for half a year!"

"Huh?"

"W-why are you spilling that now?!"

"Shut up! You of all people shouldn’t tease me!"

"Hey, hey..."

While Izzi was trying to calm his girlfriend, Zarfa was clapping her hands while laughing as if it wasn’t her who teased Zia the most. I smacked her in reprimand, but it just made her laugh even louder.

"Alright, alright--that’s enough," Natha chuckled and patted my shoulder. "It’s my fault that Valen misunderstood anyway."

Phew--we took a deep breath and calmed down. Fortunately, Shwa and Jade were already in the nursery with their nannies. I glanced at Zia, and after staring at each other wordlessly for three seconds, we burst out laughing.

Izzi rolled his eyes and sighed exasperatedly. "You’re always chaotic when you’re together."

"That’s called having friends, Izzi," Zarfa waved her hand, and Izzi glared at her again since she was the one who actively provoked them all the time. No, Izzi--she would get more excited if you show that kind of reaction. Look at her smirk! Zarfa tilted her head and resumed the interfered topic. "Anyway, how about it? Should we call Aina over?"

Izzi turned toward Zia, as if asking for permission. Oh, you weren’t bad, huh? She flinched slightly and blushed, before clutching his sleeve and nodding adorably.

Ah...a girl experiencing her first love was indeed the cutest.

Not as cute as Shwa and Jade though.

"Well, I don’t know when else I’ll be here, so might as well," Izzi said after they finished whispering to each other. "But it’s not my own creation, so you should ask the other too."

"D’Ara wouldn’t mind. Oh--we should call Neel too, then!" I clasped my hand. "I haven’t seen her since that first transfusion!"

Izzi scoffed. "That’s because she had used all of her outdoor energy for that few days of visit to the Castle."

I blinked and tilted my head. "But...she was indoors?"

The only ’outdoors’ she had to experience was the journey from the portal to the Lord’s Quarter, and she spent all of her time inside this room to make the transfusion device. The other time was when she controlled the recording devices at that party, but she was also tightly inside a carriage and a closed-off box.

"Anywhere outside her room or bunker is ’outdoors’ for her," Izzi shrugged.

"I...I see..."

"But she likes talking about this kind of thing, so just call her. Tell her about the baby too--I don’t think she’ll know unless you say it to her face," Izzi added.

"Huh..." I blinked. "Oh, right!"

Zarfa laughed again. "What--you haven’t told her?"

"I mean...Doun and the twins knew and came, so I thought..." I mumbled in defense, but Izzi immediately snorted.

"How would she know if she never saw them?" the elf smirked. "Her meals were probably made and delivered by the golems, right?"

Ugh...that was true. I should have known since she did not show herself even when Doun and the twins came to congratulate me and saw the baby. I was so busy feeling so elated about Shwa’s arrival that I hardly cared about who came. To be honest...I also did not consider her existence before the invention topic came, hehe...

Zarfa tilted her head and arched his brow. "You knew her so much, Izzi~"

"Ceci..." I glanced at Zia, who was once again stiffened and gave Izzi a side-eye.

Izzi frowned and quickly came to her defense. "What’s wrong with that? She’s my part--colleague..."

"You almost said partner, huh?"

"Business partner!" Izzi slammed the armrest and stroked Zia’s shoulder in reassurance. "Business partner!"

"Ceci..." I let out a sigh and smacked the giggling girl again. However, talking about Neel who hated the crowd reminded me of someone. "Ah, what about Aunt Nezja? Where is she?"

I thought she would come with Zia and Izzi since they were in the same place, but there was no sign of her.

"Oh, about that..."

Zia suddenly blushed, which made us look at her curiously. It was Izzi who finally answered. "She said she didn’t want to come with us, so she came a bit later," he said while scratching his neck awkwardly. "I think she’ll arrive tonight or tomorrow morning..."

Huh? What with those faces? Zia was even half-hiding behind Izzi’s shoulder with a reddened face.

"She didn’t want to spend the journey third-wheeling between a couple in their sweet phase," Natha translated the reason further before sipping his tea.

"Uncle!"

Zia was literally flaming now, looking more like Angwi with that deep red skin. We couldn’t help but giggle at her reaction, which made her get even redder. If we teased her even more, I felt like steam would start to come out of her ears.

Well...where else would we see a succubus getting flustered this much from a talk about her love life?

Ah...I couldn’t wait until everyone was here.
