The Demon Lord's Bride (BL)
Chapter 504: Can’t people let me be pregnant in peace?

Chapter 504: Can’t people let me be pregnant in peace?

Conflict? What conflict? Why was there a conflict?

And how could they do that when I had a fetus growing in my garden?!

...that sounded wrong--but you get me, right? Right?!

Natha let go of me and turned around to face Caba, whose face turned from urgency to embarrassment in a second. "Oh...ah, I--I’m sorry!"

Hmph! It’s too late!

"Where is it?" Natha asked with a frown. Well, I guess our child’s safety was more important than sex.

"Oh...it’s..." the big bald demon was fidgeting, perhaps debating whether he should relay the report properly or turn around and avert his eyes from our quite intimate position.

Thankfully, no clothes were shed yet to warrant daylight indecency.

Damn it!

"Don’t dilly dally, Caba," Natha said coldly. Oh, maybe he was as disappointed as I was.

"It’s--it’s in Wrath!"

The room went silent as our brain digested this information. When I came to my senses, I let out a dumbfounded shout. "What?!"

My first thought was...you disturbed us because of a conflict that happened in another realm?! I was about to lash out and bonk his bald head when something occurred to my mind that offset the initial anger.

There was no way Caba would search for Natha like this with such an agitated voice if it was just a regular conflict. And didn’t he say ’border’ earlier?

"You mean...with humans?" I gasped. "With Lenaar?"

The big bald wolf nodded timidly.

"What the fu--"

"Sush--no cursing," Natha clasped my mouth gently, but still enough to muffle my voice.

Oh, right--Shwa might not be in my belly, but we still had a soul connection. Phew...I took a deep breath and nodded. Right, let’s make a habit of not cursing at all since there will be children here all the time in the future.

"Haa..." but now, Natha let out a long, heavy sigh before moving his hands from my mouth to my cheeks, cupping my face. "I’m sorry, sweetheart, but--"

"Go," I grabbed his back and hugged him tightly, pressing my face on his chest. "It’s okay."

"You’re not upset?"

"I am," I lifted my head and sighed. "I was, but...this feels important."

Yeah, even if it was only a regular skirmish, it might evolve into a full-blown war again like last time. If even someone like me felt the urgency, it would be even more for Natha, right? I wasn’t so childish to keep being upset about this.

And...maybe because we had a good evening yesterday, I wasn’t in a bad mood swings today.

He kissed my forehead hard and whispered. "I’ll be back as soon as I can, yeah?"

"Okay," I nodded and let him leave with Caba. After waiting a bit until they were out of the Lord’s quarters, I opened the window and called out for the little bird who had been playing with Vrida since morning. "Jade!"

It didn’t take long until I saw a flash of rainbow flying toward me like a comet. [Papa!]

What a speed! The comet hit a brake in front of the window and entered the room with confusion. [Huh? Jade don’t know this place!]

"I’ll tell you later, but let’s visit the vassals for a bit," I grabbed the little bird, and we told the servants about it. I also asked the guards who else was going with Natha, and they said only Caba and Lesta went.

Ah, probably because it was an external business.

But this meant the person I wanted to see was there, so I marched to the office in relief. Why, you ask?

Well, I learned that my mood swings came out every time I held something back, so I had been trying to let everything go and fulfill what my heart and body wanted without restraint. If I could, that was.

Honestly, my desire back then was to spend time with Natha, but it couldn’t be fulfilled. While I said it was alright before, I knew I would be in a wreck sometime soon. In that case, I should try to lessen the stuff that made me feel bad; by looking further at the cause of our date’s wrecker.

"Eruru--I mean, Eruha!"

[Eruru!]

I called out my vampire teacher the moment I came to the circular office. We hadn’t had any lessons for a while ever since my mood swings worsened. Certainly, my unstable state of mind was not suitable for absorbing knowledge.

But it was nice to have him available for information gathering. Well, it could be said to be a lesson too, right? Although I was sure Natha would explain it to me once he was back, I didn’t know if I could wait for that long.

"Young Master?" Eruha looked up from the scroll he was reading.

I didn’t waste time and shot straight away while approaching the lounge table. "I need some explanation!"

"About?"

"Border!"

He tilted his head to think for three seconds. "...ah, about the conflict?"

As expected of my teacher. "Yes!"

"Very well," he nodded and stood up. "Let’s have some tea."

"Huh? Oh, okay..."

I thought we would have some serious discussion sessions, but we ended up having some leisure tea in the greenhouse. Thanks to that, I also received a mana-infused herbal tea and the cooks’ new mana-rich savory pastries.

Ah...perhaps Natha told them to take care of my mana intake since he abruptly had to go away?

Anyway, as I was munching on a savory cookie sprinkled with Southern Lake salt crystal, Eruha calmly told me that the skirmish this time was caused by the Wrath’s soldier, and it happened in the area that used to belong to the Realm of Wrath before the war.

Hmm...I could kind of guess why those soldiers did what they did, and...I was feeling kind of guilty.

Maybe because I was the main reason they lost some of their land to Lenaar during the war.

But for now, rather than this feeling of useless guilt, there was something more important, which was also the main reason I sought Eruha right away. "So...will it affect us?"

"We will have to see," the vampire replied calmly after sipping his tea. "Normally, each realm moves with its own authority, but as you know, the new Lord is sponsored by His Lordship, so he needs to see if his investment will be fine."

"Ah..."

It was kind of weird talking about a state-realm as if it was a company, but then again...Natha was a merchant, so I guessed it was to be expected. He did spend quite some time holding the competition and pouring money for post-war reconstruction, so he must have wanted a good return.

It was just...from what I could see with our short encounter during the wedding banquet, the Lord of Wrath seemed to be someone who was hard to control. He wasn’t necessarily bad, nor did he have any bad intentions, just...how should I say this?

He was like an unruly child who was extremely active and could get into any accident unprompted any second if we just diverted our attention for a brief moment.

"But there’s no need to worry, Young Master," Eruha continued. "Our realm is situated quite far from the human realm."

Well, I guessed they would need to conquer the Realm of Wrath and cross Ignis’s volcano before arriving in the desert bordering our realm. By that time, there was no way Natha couldn’t prepare enough to face the humans. That was also only if they could really conquer the Realm of Wrath.

It took me and Jin to kill the previous Lord of Wrath, but even then, they couldn’t advance further than the rocky mountain and had to be satisfied with the current gain. The main cause was the fact that the Lord wasn’t everything in the Realm of Wrath. He might have been the strongest, but demons almost as strong as him--perhaps only slightly weaker--were still scattered around the realm; uninterested in the war against the realm itself, but sure as hell wouldn’t let it if anyone crossed their private territories.

The kingdom without me and the Hero facing the Realm of Wrath?

They could never.

"Also, the other realms wouldn’t let the realm of greed fall; do you know why?" Eruha looked at me with the gaze of a teacher conducting a verbal exam.

Ugh, damn--I was there to ask questions, not answering them! But well, it had been a while since I had any lesson, so I might as well use the chance to exercise my brain a little bit.

To be honest, I didn’t know the answer exactly, but I remembered Natha’s strongest weapon;

Money.

"Because we hold the wheel of economy?"

"Yes," Eruha nodded and leaned back in his seat. Was that a proud expression I saw on his gaze? "Crippling us meant crippling themselves. A lot of goods are being produced here, and we are the hub of export from the realm of nature. Also," he looked at me and curled his lips. "We have you."

"...me?" I tilted my head, and once again, Eruha looked at me with that examiner gaze. "Uhh...because the realm of nature won’t let me be in danger."

Eruha merely smiled this time, closing his eyes, and continued to savor his little break time.

Hmm...after hearing that, my heart became calmer. It was safe to say that a scenario where we would be in danger was almost nonexistent. Which was good and all, but...

Why?

Why did Natha come back looking annoyed and distraught?
