Chapter 436: When your child is out cold so you have the time for a date
"Fwaaa..." I exhaled dazedly, slipping myself deeper inside a bundle of blankets Natha wrapped me with. Lounging leisurely on the couch, I watched my naughty Demon Lord clean up the mess we made earlier. "That was fun!"
"You sound like Jade," Natha chuckled while placing the papers he just gathered back on his desk.
"Well, I am his Papa."
"Look at you embracing it now," Natha came back to the couch even though there was still other stuff lying around the floor below his desk. "How’s your body?"
"I think I’m better than you, my Lord," I grinned.
He was the one being so aggressive earlier, but he was the one who stopped when I still wanted to continue, saying I had just returned from a long journey. Hmph--don’t you think I didn’t see you breathing heavily and holding your waist, you old man!
Natha rolled his eyes and lifted my blanket to check on my skin once again. My thighs were bruised earlier, and so was my waist. But the marks were already fading as my body naturally regenerated.
I hated it, though. Taking a deep, disappointed breath, I trailed my fingers across the faint kiss marks that would be completely gone by the time we were back in the Lord’s quarters. They never stayed on my skin for more than a few hours, and if we went right back to sleep afterward, they would be gone already the moment I woke up.
How annoying.
"Don’t sulk," he chuckled and tightened the blanket again since I was bare-naked underneath. "I’ll give it to you as often as you want once we’re living together again."
I gasped and straightened my back, leaning closer to him. "Really? Promise?"
"You like it that much when I mark you?" Natha raised his brow.
"Because...you rarely do it..." I pursed my lips at this Demon Lord who always acted too gentle with me. Even though he knew I wouldn’t get hurt, and I could heal myself anyway, he still couldn’t bring himself to be rough with me.
Perhaps it had been a mindset ingrained in his soul since he knew me from my sickly, flesh-and-bone, extra-fragile era. After several decades, things like that were difficult to be altered. It was nice to see how much he cared about me, but on the other hand, it was also rather frustrating.
I mean...we all had those times when we were in the mood for some rough play...right?
The only way for me to get it was when he became extremely impatient or in his jealous era. Hmm...
"Maybe it’s a good thing that we live separately..." I was muttering unconsciously before I realized it and immediately felt the shift of force in the air. Looking up, I saw Natha’s eyes grow cold and his face turned rigid.
"What?"
"No, no--it’s just..." I shook my head and flailed my arms to salvage my stupid mouth. "Umm..." I shifted closer and fiddled with his hand through the blanket. "It’s just...you became more aggressive when we haven’t seen each other for a while and...and..." I looked up at his eyes and added sheepishly. "I like it."
He chuckled and pulled me into his lap--bundle and all. "Don’t ask me for it," he said, before kissing my forehead. "I’m so afraid I’m going to go too far and regret it afterward."
"Okay..." I leaned against his chest and exhaled slowly. "Well...it’s nice to get it just from time to time, kind of like a surprise event," I giggled.
He laughed and kissed me again, all over my face, and then proceeded to lift me and walk toward the door. I blinked and widened my eyes as we got further away from the still-messy desk area. "Are...are you going to let that be?"
"I’m carrying you back bundled in a blanket. They will guess what happened easily."
I froze for a second, before hitting his shoulder. "You indecent Lord!"
"What’s the matter? We’re weeks away from becoming a married couple anyway."
"It’s indecent even if we’re already married!"
"Says the person who got excited doing it in the office."
"Ugh--"
He flicked my nose and nonchalantly came out of the office despite my horror and embarrassment. I even forgot that I had a clothing artifact that would totally solve this matter in a heartbeat. Haa...perhaps my brain function lowered whenever I got satisfied from having some. Whatever. There weren’t many people in the Castle already anyway.
"Everything going alright with your training?" Natha asked on our way back to the Lord’s quarters, perhaps to distract my flustered mind.
"Oh, yeah," I nodded and peeked out of the blanket I pulled up into my head earlier. "I get Aunty’s written statement that I have enough proficiency!"
He raised his brow and smirked, probably because I was so excited about it. He made that mischievous face that always reminded me of our day on Earth, and leaned down to whisper right into my ear. "Are you that eager to be bred by me, sweetheart?"
Why did you say it like that?! I slapped his shoulder again, and his laughter rang in the corridor leading to the Lord’s quarters.
Well...I mean...
So what if I do?!
"Hmph--even though it’s for Shwa’s sake," I turned toward my unborn child, stroking the black pendant behind the blanket.
"Yes, yes...but I don’t want to only have our child," Natha said; the teasing tone turned softer and yet more serious. "I want to make sure I have both of you safely in my arms, you get that?"
I stared at his firm, hard eyes, and buried my face on his coat, nodding quietly. His lips, brushing my temple slightly, were stretching into a gentle smile, and I breathed in relief.
"Oh, umm...I also tried to do a fusion," I continued my report to distract us from the heavy topic. "I managed to turn into a rabbit!"
He paused then; his steps halted and his body stiffened. His arms, which were holding me, tightened up considerably. "You turned...into a rabbit?"
Oh...oh no! Was it wrong for me to do so? Did it make him worry again? I grasped his cheeks and shook my head. "It’s alright, Aunty said it’s okay for me to do it as long as an older druid is present. And--and I did well! I succeed instantly, even Aunty and the Elders praise me about it," I explained quickly. "You can ask Ignis if you don’t believe me!"
He blinked, and I realized he hadn’t done so while I explained it to him earlier. Finally, he resumed the walk and I let out a soft breath--not yet relief, though.
"So...you became a rabbit, huh?"
Oh! Did he accept it already?
"Yeah," I nodded. "The rabbit is very meek and likes to sunbathe. It’s a fluffy one that looks like a mini sheep!"
"Fluffy..."
"Ung! I tried to sunbathe too, but Jade caught me, so I ran away by climbing Vrida’s head. I know now why Jade likes to sit between her horns so much. Oh, and I ran around the meadow where we met the fairies and played chase with Jade."
"Ah..."
For some reason, his voice sounded a little strained. Was he perhaps still worried?
"Aunty said I have a talent for it, but...well, if you don’t like it--"
"No," he said quickly. "I’m not saying I don’t like it."
"Oh?"
"Well, you said you did it well," he nodded and patted my side as if praising me. "Just be careful as always."
"Of course!" I nodded, genuinely didn’t want him to get worried again. "Oh, about the converging spot..."
I started to tell him about what happened in that lake--half to divert the topic again, and half because there was something that still bothered me. Yep; about the fact that someone was there not long before our visit.
"But the fairies said it’s a druid?"
"Yeah."
"And that the person is not dangerous, or doing anything that could be a danger to the converging spot?"
"So they said."
Natha smiled; that half-curl, slightly deep, and mysterious smile he showed when he was in a business--or a scheme. "Then it’s fine, isn’t it? The place is not exclusively ours, and even if the spot moves, we can just look for it again with the fairies’ help."
"Well...that’s true..."
Perhaps because I still looked worried--or rather, curious--he rubbed my frowning brow and chuckled softly. "If you’re asking me, I had this feeling that the person staying there was probably trying to protect the place," he said. When I looked at him in confusion, he added. "For you."
"Huh?" my confusion only grew. "Why?"
"Who knows," Natha shrugged. "Perhaps because you’re their Little Prince?"
"Don’t call me that!" I pursed my lips. "But...do you think so?"
"Mm,"
I narrowed my eyes at his firm and confident answer. Grabbing his cheeks again, I stared into his eyes and asked. "You know something, don’t you?"
"No," he curled his lips. "But making guesses is free."
"No fair!" I would have hit him again, but we arrived already, and the servants were there opening the door and welcoming us, so I got embarrassed again and clammed up. I could see his triumphant smirk as he carried me up to the bedroom.
Tsk--you lucky Demon Lord.
"Are you okay leaving the brat in the Lair?"
"It’s fine," I sighed in satisfaction as Natha put me inside the warmed tub. "Jade turned for days and forced himself to wake up throughout the journey, so he would be asleep until tomorrow afternoon, at the very least."
"Oh, good," he dropped his clothes and the water splashed as he entered the tub. "So I don’t have to send you back early tomorrow?"
"Nope," I giggled as he pulled me into his lap again. "Besides...I still have tons to tell you."
"Oh?"
