Chapter 418: Exploring each other’s kink is a healthy premarital talk
"It’s five minutes already," I patted Zarfa’s back gently, but instead of letting me go, she hugged me even tighter.
"Can’t...can’t you just stay another night?" she asked quietly, voice muffled on my chest.
We’d been having this conversation for the last half an hour, even after we said our goodbye already. I already had my farewell with the others, but this girl kept saying just five more minutes as if it was an alarm snooze or something.
"We’ll be seeing each other in a month anyway," I knocked her head gently.
"I know, but..." she clutched my back tightly for a few seconds, before taking a deep breath and pulling away. "Haa...alright."
I chuckled and squeezed her cheeks. "Don’t act so dramatic. You used to leave me alone in the hospital while laughing back then."
"This time and that time are different!" she pursed her lips. "But fine--the next time I see you, I’ll give you a big big wedding present!"
"Big is fine, but don’t give me anything weird."
"Heh," she let out a smirk, which gave me a bad feeling. But there was no time to think about it too much, since I had to get back. I just sighed exasperatedly and pinched her cheek while looking at the others.
Fatia smiled and approached me again. "Once again, let me thank you from the bottom of my heart," she bowed again despite me saying there was no need for that. "I’ll make sure to work hard and retrieve your rightful inheritance."
"That’ll be enough," I nodded.
"Are we...going to meet again?" the Hero asked--I didn’t even realize he had come closer.
Uhh...what should I do? Looking at his eyes, I had no heart to act coldly during a parting. I swallowed my sigh and answered as best as I could. "Who knows? There’s still that business about my father left."
"Oh, right!" he nodded, face visibly brighter.
Friend. It was just a business between friends, nothing more. I shifted my gaze toward Aina and Ian, who waved their hands at me. I patted Zarfa for the last time before stepping back and taking out a magic stone carved with Lesta’s returning spell.
"Goodbye, it was fun these past few days."
I didn’t lie--it had been truly fun. Making a move on my own, doing some work, hanging out with both my old friend and new friends...
It was a short trip, but it gave me a lot of things. Now that I had found my old friend again, I could proceed with my wedding without any burden of thought.
With a smile, I poured mana into the returning stone, and my surroundings instantly got blurry. I could still hear Zarfa shouting voice, although I couldn’t catch what she was saying. Soon, I had to close my eyes to offset the effect of teleportation, and before I could open it, I felt a pair of cold arms around me.
"I’ve been waiting," and the soothing voice followed with a soft kiss on my temple.
I looked up and my lips naturally formed a smile as I held the sturdy, safe arms I always missed no matter what, and leaned into the soothing coldness. "I’m home."
[Jade’s home!]
"I’m not home yet, but I’m home, I guess."
I laughed and let go of my little companions before turning around to properly hug Natha. Ah...smelled like home. The leather and parchment, and...oh, this mixture of leaves and exotic flowers...
Belatedly, I realized I was in the deck of the greenhouse instead of the Lair. "How can you be here right on time?" I looked up and blinked. "Could it be..."
"How else?" he shrugged and lifted me in his arms again, taking me inside. "I’ve been waiting here."
"Huuh? Since when?" I raised my brows in surprise, but before I could get any answer, I saw a leftover meal on the table inside, and gasped. "Did you have dinner here?"
"You did say you’ll come back quickly," he said dryly, almost as if he was sulking.
Even though he said I should just use my time and have fun in leisure...
I bit my lips and squeezed his cheeks, before kissing him hard once. Ahh...he was sooo endearing when he acted cute like this. I nuzzled his cheek and giggled in joy as he carried me out of the greenhouse, back to the castle.
"I’m sorry...it’s so easy to lose track of time when talking about the past," I grinned sheepishly. "And Ceci didn’t want to let me go. She kept asking me to stay another night."
"And why didn’t you?"
"Why?" I tilted my head, grinning at his dry tone, and kissed his cheek while giggling again. "Because I missed you too much."
Finally, I could hear the sound of his soft chuckle. As usual, he took time to take the longest path to the Lord’s quarters instead of teleporting, and I told him about my adventure in the shopping district today on the way. It was past dinner time, so not many walked around the castle, making it feel like we were on a secret date again.
Well...except for the fact that Jade and Ignis were also there--which was fine, really, if only Jade wasn’t betraying me.
[Nightmare, Nightmare, what’s ’pervert’?] the little bird asked suddenly, innocently.
...what the hell, Jade?! I thought we made a promise!
Natha tilted his head. "Did this brat just call me a pervert?"
* * *
"Stop laughing!" I kicked Natha beneath the blanket when Natha greeted my morning with laughter instead of a kiss.
"I couldn’t help it, could I?" he chuckled silently against my neck. "To think you’d like that white coat so much. Isn’t it good that we didn’t mess it up the other day?"
Ugh...
Hmph! So what if I liked it?!
"But sweetheart," he raised his head and looked at me with a deep smile that got my heart skipped a bit.
"Wh...what?"
He tilted his head and continued in a whisper. "You do know that I’ll be wearing a white coat too at our wedding...don’t you?"
Oh...oh! Oh, Mother! I covered my face with my hands as my feet kicked the sheet along with the butterflies kicking up my stomach. The sound of his laughter filled the bedroom I hadn’t slept in for a while, and for the next few minutes, he enveloped me in his cool embrace.
"Whose idea is it to have the wedding day in white?" I whispered in a trembling voice.
"Mine?"
"I love you so much."
Pfft--he laughed again and started to pepper me with kisses.
Ugh--since we were talking about it anyway...
"Hey, umm..." I swallowed hard and pulled the blanket up to cover my lower face as I looked at him sheepishly. "Do you still have, umm...your old adventure garb?"
It might be too much to ask for a firefighter uniform in this world, but...that one should be doable...right?
He raised his head and stared at me blankly without saying anything for a few seconds, making me blush profusely from embarrassment.
"Your friend is right," Natha said after almost a minute. "You are a pervert."
Hey! I smacked his arm in embarrassment. Well, I mean...I knew I was a pervert, but you didn’t have to voice it out. That smirking lips and cheeky gaze annoyed me somehow.
"Stop smirking! You’re the one who told me to have more desire!"
"Heh--that’s right."
Tsk. I clicked my tongue and narrowed my eyes. Hmm...now that I thought about it, he never seemed to request anything special from me. He wouldn’t even go hard on me unless I requested it or made him jealous first.
"Nat, what about you?" I asked curiously.
"What about me?"
I reached out for his pendant and played with it as I asked him bashfully. "Do you not have any...umm....request?" I bit my lips as I pushed out the word. that felt so scandalous to be uttered out loud. "Any...kink?"
Again, he blinked and looked at me wordlessly for quiet sometimes.
"Per--"
"I know, shut up! Just answer it!" I puffed my cheek and pinched his side to stop him from laughing.
He still let out a light chuckle and brushed my messy hair away. "It’s enough for me that you’re here, by my side, allowing me to hold you like this," he said softly, and I couldn’t find any trace of lie in the gentle moonlight gaze he gave me. "I don’t really need anything more."
I sighed softly and pulled him into a heartfelt kiss. He truly had a way with words, huh? But...it wasn’t like I felt him lacking or anything. Even without realizing any of my hidden desires, we still had a satisfying sexual life.
It was just...
Experiencing more didn’t mean we were dissatisfied with the normal situation.
"I know you’d say that, but..." I grasped his face and looked into his eyes. "There should still be something, right?" I pressed my palm on his chest. "Your greed deep inside."
For the first time, I saw Natha swallowing nervously. He even turned his face away, getting more flustered than any other time before.
Oh-ho?
I tilted my head to chase his face. "What? What is it? Tell me."
"...no," he pressed his lips together. "It’s a secret."
"That’s not fair! Shouldn’t I know it so I can--"
"No, you don’t have to," he shook his head. "I don’t think it’s possible anyway. Let’s not talk about this anymore, okay?"
And then he pulled away from me completely and even got out of bed, running away with an excuse to make my morning drink.
Aagh! This unfair demon!
Hmm...I wonder what it is...
