The Demon Lord's Bride (BL) -
Chapter 352: Is there something like a helicopter lover?
Chapter 352: Is there something like a helicopter lover?
"Look at you all smileeey!" Zia pinched my cheeks lightly that night, shaking my head while at it.
But indeed--I couldn’t stop smiling today. Even though Natha only stayed until luncheon, I felt happier than usual. Perhaps because it was an unexpected visit, so it felt like a surprise gift.
"Hehe..." it was hard to stop my lips from stretching, even if I was being teased left and right.
Zia giggled and squeezed my cheeks even more. "What a happy bride," she laughed joyfully, like she was happy about my happiness, and it made me even more happy.
How weird and nice!
"Oh, I’ll spend the visitation night in the Lord Castle this time," I told her.
"Eeeh?" she widened her eyes and finally let go of my face, just to grab my shoulder and shake me while whining. "Why?"
"Because--ugh--I’m going to get my ear...pierced--" I gripped her arms so she stopped treating me like a ragdoll.
"Oh? But why there?"
I paused for a bit, before letting out a sigh. I had no idea whether I should laugh or cry at how cautious Natha was.
When I told him about the earrings and that I had no hole to put them in my ear, he said we’d do it in the Lord Castle. He wanted to do it with the physician around to give me something like an anesthetic spell, and be ready to give me some healing if something went wrong.
I was so dumbfounded because...I had natural regeneration? I could heal myself? Certainly, it wasn’t as strong and as fast as the healing spell by the Castle’s physician, but...it wasn’t like I was going through labor or something? People got their ears pierced on Earth without any of that and they were fine?
"Not all of them. Some got complications when they did it," he argued.
I had no idea what kind of complication it could be, so I told him; "Why don’t you do it, then? So there wouldn’t be any complications?"
He flat-out said no. It wasn’t just that--his complexion turned pale, eyes widened and shaken slightly as if the very thought of doing it was horrifying for him. I could even feel his fingers trembling slightly when he rubbed my earlobe.
"No, I can’t," he shook his head. "I’d be too anxious."
"Then who will?"
In my understanding of his character, he wouldn’t let the physician handle it either. It should be someone he truly trusted to touch a part of my body. Like...one of the vassals? No--one of the siblings.
"Malta will do it."
I was right. When I told Zia about it, she laughed so much that she was rolling around on the rug in front of the fireplace in my suite. "Oh my God! Isn’t that excessive?" she both laughed and cried in my place.
"Yeah, I think so too," I chuckled. No wonder the servants and the vassals were so sensitive to my conditions, to the point that they would go into panic just from a little tripping and papercuts.
"He’s so protective of you it became funny!"
"Hehe..."
Zia laughed again and squeezed my blushing cheeks. "Umm...do you want to go over to?"
"Nope!" she shook her head firmly. "You’d just be with Lord Uncle all the time anyway. Why would I go over just to be a third wheel?"
Well...I couldn’t refute that. Indeed, except for dinner time, I spent all of my time with Natha and made Jade sulk the next day.
Oh, talking about Jade...
"Since you’re not going anyway, can you take care of Jade while I go?"
[Master will leave Jade?!] the little bird gasped, surfacing from the bowl of candy it had been rolling around in. It swiftly flew over and grasped my cheek with the colorful wings. [Is it because Jade keep eating candy?]
Pfft--was this bird insinuating that I got jealous because of my new diet? I took the little bird in my hand and rubbed the leftover melted sugar around its beak. "It’s not that, Jade. I just worried you’d react the same with Natha about the piercing."
"Oh, that’s possible," Zia nodded and took Jade off my hand, whispering closer to the little green head. "They will put a hole each in Val’s ears, Jade."
!!!
The chirping was both loud and frantic. [Why?! Why put hole in Master’s pretty ear?!]
"To put on the earrings, Jade," I touched the anklet on Jade’s little leg. "You know, the ones with the same function as this."
[Oh...] Jade looked down and lifted its leg to look at the blue gem. [But must they hurt Master?]
"It won’t hurt," I patted the concerned bird. "But you might get freaked out when it happens, so..."
"It might be too scary for you, Jade. Just stay here with me and we’ll make a book together."
[Book like what Aunty gives Jade?]
"Are you going to make a children’s book?" I asked her.
"Looking at the druid’s children’s book made me think of making picture books for the fairy tale we demon heard during our childhood," Zia said. "Most of those tales were compiled in a book without any interesting illustration right now. Isn’t that why you can’t find any children’s books for Jade in the demon realm?"
Oh, that was true. Jade seemed to get interested in this too, because it meant more books for the little bird to be displayed in the new bedroom. Ho ho...seemed like we got a way for me to make Jade stay here without a fuss during our honeymoon...
"But..." Zia tilted her head. "Why Sister Malta?"
Indeed; why Malta of all people?
I got the answer from Lesta on the day I came over for visitation night.
"She used to do it--piercing, I mean--when we were still on the street," he told me.
"When you’re still scamming people?"
Lesta laughed and nodded, grinning as he continued. "Children of nature loved their accessories where they could put their jewels to use--especially drows. A lot of them have multiple piercings on their ears and...anywhere else. Elf only pierces their ears, though."
"And Malta used to do it?"
"Uh-huh," Lesta looked up as if reminiscing of the old days. "For adventurers and people with low incomes, a street vendor is enough for them--even if we looked shady."
"You guys truly have a colorful past," I grinned. "I really want to hear all of your stories back then."
"In that case!" someone jumped me from the back suddenly--of course, it could only be the one and only Arta. "Why don’t we have dinner together, Young Master? It’s been a while since we had a meal together."
Ah, that’s right. The last time I had breakfast together with the vassal...I didn’t even remember. Before I visited the realm of nature I supposed, or even before then. A dinner sounded nice, so I agreed easily, and Arta immediately ran to arrange it while Lesta took me to Natha’s office.
When I arrived, there was Malta as usual. But I also saw the Castle’s main physician and his team of healers. I bit my lips and looked at Natha because...it was kind of embarrassing now. If people who didn’t know looked at it, they would think I was about to go through a serious procedure or something.
Oh, Mother...it was a good thing that I couldn’t get pregnant--I mean, naturally inside my body--and go into labor because I could only imagine the chaos that would ensue in such a scenario. Natha would probably call every physician and healer available in the realm just to cast continuous healing for me.
"A bit excessive there," I whispered to him as heat crept into my cheek, but he only smiled and acted like I didn’t say anything. "I used to get injections all the time, you know. Even biopsy!"
"That’s why," he said, leading me to a plush and comfortable chair. "You already experienced all of that before, so you don’t need to face that again now."
Well...I didn’t mind the reasoning, but...was there really a need to have three dedicated healers for simple piercing? I glanced at Malta who was readying her equipment, and I could see her lips stretched into a smile.
She was laughing inside, wasn’t she?
"My Liege, it’s probably best for you to wait outside," she even told him to go, and Natha did it. He truly went out while throwing me a concerned look that was both endearing and annoying.
"He acts like I’m about to go into labor..." I buried my face in my palm after the door was closed.
"But it’s quite fun seeing him like that," Malta said, didn’t even hide her smile.
Oh, Gods...you know what was even more embarrassing? Natha must be able to sense all of their thoughts, including the ones saying it was excessive. And yet, he didn’t care and kept going with his plan.
"I bet your old...clients...didn’t use any of these, huh?" I glanced at Malta while the physician rubbed a pain-killing potion on my ears.
"No," she said. "But then again, they were mainly people who used to get stabbed and bitten by corrupted beasts."
"Well, I also used to..." I stopped and sighed. Well, whatever--I knew his concern about me stemmed from his helplessness in seeing my condition back on Earth. I wasn’t annoyed because of it, just a bit embarrassed because it was nothing, truly. "Let’s just get this over with before he gets too anxious outside."
