Chapter 241: When the God said it’s a miracle, then it’s a miracle

Chapter 241: When the God said it’s a miracle, then it’s a miracle

Did he mean I might have to have a...a three...oh, Mother!

The Demon Lord looked at my face and chuckled. "It’s a miracle, isn’t it?"

That was...one thing to put it.

He looked up again, and this time, muttered in a more serious tone. "I have to admit, when we were working to make this happen, we never thought about your feelings," he said, a wry smile decorating his handsome face that made it hard to get pissed at what he said. "We had never intended for you to fall in love, honestly."

"..."

He glanced at me and shrugged. "In my defense, I had been too detached from that concept to think about it in the middle of trying to prolong this world’s lifespan. I just sent him there so he would know how you look when you meet again in the future for this...business."

I still looked at him silently with pursing lips, and he broke out laughing this time, as if it was a funny business. It wasn’t funny, okay?

"Look," he finally stopped laughing and stood up, looking at me with a twinkling in his eyes. "All I want to say is that whatever happened between you two, whatever feelings you develop, we have nothing to do with it."

...oh?

"We don’t even have the authority over the cycle of life and death, moreover putting feelings into someone’s heart," he said, and as he looked into the black flower, his lips stretched into a softer smile. "And you know, perhaps it would be best to be born anew between such a genuine bond."

Damnit—now he even made me blush! I looked down and patted my heart to hide my fluster. As my gaze fell down, my hands slowly stroked below my chest, thinking about the pulsing cocoon and the seed back home.

Ah...I wanted to go home. To Natha. To this child.

But before then, I still had a question. "Umm...you were using ’we’ since earlier. Are you talking about you and Mother?"

He raised his brow when I mentioned Mother, and chuckled for a bit, probably for the intimate way I called her. "Ah, Yes. Me and Sarte, and Luxera."

"...the human Goddess?" I blinked in surprise, never thought I would hear that name again after I stepped out of the human realm.

"Well, yes," the Demon God seemed to be surprised that I was surprised. "Who do you think sending those dreams to that girl?"

* * *

"So that’s what happened..."

I told Natha all about it in one sitting, and took a deep breath after I was done. He had been listening keenly, without even interrupting me once, because I might ended up forgetting about something crucial.

Even now, after I told him about it, I was still in a state of a daze. Still didn’t know what should be feeling about everything. Should I be relieved to finally know the reason behind my transmigration? Should I be worried about what’s to come? Should I be upset about becoming a tool, or should I feel proud about shouldering this...important mission?

I had no idea, but when I looked at Natha, I saw him smiling. "What?"

He chuckled and, instead of immediately answering, took his time to kiss me slowly, sweetly, just like yesterday morning, before the trial.

"I have been...in a dilemmatic doubt," he said after parting his lips from mine, stroking my cheek softly. "I know—I know I love you. I know there’s no one else I love but you. I know I can’t love anyone but you and yet..." he paused and sighed, looking into my eyes deeply. "And yet, sometimes I wonder if it’s me, or if it’s just something that Lord An’Hyang wants me to feel so that we can proceed with this...mission, smoother."

Ah...yes, I recalled he once told me about that. And honestly, when I found out about the ’mission’, and again, when the Demon God told me about it, there was this kind of doubt inside me too.

Was that why...was that why the Demon God was testing my faith?

"But now I know that everything is me, my feelings," he whispered, and I grabbed his hands that were stroking my face, looking back at him as I responded firmly.

"Us," I told him. "It’s our feelings."

He blinked twice in stun, and let out the most beautiful sound of laughter and for that few seconds, it felt like the hands on my cheeks were getting warmer than usual.

I pressed my lips again because I felt like I would either grin widely or quiver unsophisticatedly and just decided to bury my face in his neck, wrapping my arms around his shoulder and holding him tight.

Yeah. This is right. These feelings are ours. This devotion we have for each other.

I didn’t care what intention there was about our meeting. I didn’t care about the fact that the continuation of the world rested on us. Well, perhaps I should, but for now, I was just glad that it was us, and there was no need for someone else.

Yeah, it was like the Demon God had said.

It was a miracle.

"But hey," I pulled away and pursed my lips, narrowing my eyes at Natha’s full-of-joy expression. "I told you all of that and all you’re reacting to is the end part?"

He laughed again and shifted on the bed to pull me into his lap. "That’s the most important thing for me," he said with a shrug, wrapping his arms around my waist. "But yeah, that’s a pretty big thing, huh?"

I rolled my eyes at his nonchalant reaction. Thank God he’s so handsome, or I might be tempted to slap him for a bit. "I didn’t think the human Goddess was in this too..." I muttered. Honestly, of all the shocking things, this one might be the most shocking for me. "I mean...if they can work together on this, why don’t they just come together to end the whole conflict between the realm?"

"You did not ask Him that?" Natha smiled at my rant, fixing my night shirt that got rather disheveled during my frantic story-telling earlier.

"My time was up," I sighed. "I already had to pay it with this...ugh...sore muscle," I leaned forward and laid my head on his shoulder. "I haven’t even got time to ask Him about how to make the seed bloom."

Right—now I know why it was called a seed despite looking like an egg. It was because the seed would bloom into a flower. And inside the core of that flower, I guessed, was the vessel. But how to put our essences there...I still had no idea. Because I didn’t think it was enough with mana—in that case, the Demon God wouldn’t say the essences needed to be inside me, the one ’jailing’ the Primordial One’s trace of soul.

"Well, we might be able to find an answer through my teacher," Natha offered a solution, which got me straightened up again despite still feeling so tired. "Or if we couldn’t, there might be an answer with Lady Sarte—you did say She said you’ll meet Her again, didn’t you?"

Oh, that’s right. I nodded and laid my head on his shoulder again, with a smile this time. "Nat, do you have to go out again?"

"Why?"

"Do you?"

"Why?" he stroked my chin and tilted my face up so he could look at me. "I will stay if you want me to stay. All I have to do is make Lesta run around in my stead," he said with a mischievous smile on his lips.

Ugh...poor Lesta. I felt bad for him, but I was feeling greedy; I was so tired and I wanted to be pampered by my fiancé, so I asked Natha to stay with me today.

He didn’t just stay though. After lounging relaxedly on the bed, he even bathed me, because it turned out I couldn’t use my legs well yet. I also constantly dropped the soap, so he told me to just stay still and let him do all the work.

Ah...truly felt like I was in heaven.

I was annoyed at first because this condition brought me back to the time I was still sick. But since there was no longer any pain—except for the occasional muscle sore—it didn’t feel that bad. And when Natha wholeheartedly took care of me, the annoyance turned into a blissful delight.

"Can we go to the greenhouse?" I asked when he helped me put some clothes on, fiddling with the green necklace that now felt even more meaningful. "I want to hear about...mm...your adventure this morning."

And to be honest, it was a bit stuffy inside a room with a drawn curtain after spending who knew how long inside the coffee shop with dark windows and an illusionary castle surrounded by void. So you know, I just wanted to be surrounded by plants and a cold lake, listening to my fiancé’s nice voice.

He raised his brow and smirked—a very handsome smirk that made me want to pounce on him if my muscles weren’t groaning at that very moment. He stood on his knees and leaned forward, looking at me with the gaze he used during...the night.

"What do you want to know?"

Not fair! You can’t do this to me now! I smacked his cheeks lightly, squeezed them with my palms, and kissed him hard. After a minute of kissing that was filled with laughter on his part, I told him I wanted to know everything.

He wrapped a blanket on me—not even a coat, but a full-on blanket—and carried me outside. Jade, who was sulking that it had to go out earlier when I talked to Natha, flew to my stomach and chirped in protest, snuggling between me and the blanket as I laughed and patted the little bird. Meanwhile, Ignis jumped onto Natha’s shoulder and made me warmer.

That was how we walked to the greenhouse. Well, Natha was the one who walked, obviously, and I wondered on the way.

"It would be nice if we had popcorn..."

And you know what? He actually instructed the servants to make one!
