Chapter 209: My evil, cunning, kidnapper Demon Lord

"Is this why you asked Heraz to follow the Hero?" Natha asked after Heraz left the room to get on with his new mission.

"Yeah, why else would I care about him?" I shrugged. "I need to track when they would arrive in the Lair and contact you."

And avoid a potential bloodbath--but I didn’t tell him that.

"Huh..."

Natha made a face as if he was in a daze, like he was thinking of his past attitude and probably regretting it a bit. I shifted closer to poke his cheek and grinned. "Hehe...do you finally realize your jealousy is ridiculous?"

He raised his brow at my words and twisted his lips for a bit. Was he feeling embarrassed? I did not really know how he looked when he was embarrassed because he had been preventing me from looking at it.

"No," he replied dryly, making his face flat.

Ah...it just made me want to tease him more. I had to press my lips to hold back from laughing. I mean...I didn’t know if I would have a chance to tease him anymore in the future.

"Huh...just admit it," I poked his cheek again, and was about to pinch it just like how he usually did to me.

But he caught my arms before I could do that, and pulled me into his lap, biting my cheek as revenge and tickling my waist until I was squirming and laughing and forgot about teasing him.

"No," he hissed and nipped at my jaw playfully. "For all I know, he could still fall for you when you two meet."

"Huh? Where is that coming from?" I pulled my face away from his attacking lips and looked at him dumbfoundedly.

"I just know," the silver eyes narrowed, and he used his stubborn voice--the one I remembered from the time we had the late-night debate in the hospital. "I know his type."

Why did this demon suddenly become unreasonable?

"How?"

"I just know,"

I had to bite my lips because...why did he turn cute so suddenly like this? I clasped his cheeks and nuzzled him just the way I usually did to Jade. He just put his arms around my waist and let me do that, all the while still putting on that flat and cool face.

"How suspicious," I tilted my head and circled my arms around his neck, rubbing the back of his head. "Mmh, anyway, I don’t have any interest in the Hero other than the fact he might end up here," I decided to stop teasing him about it. It was plenty cute already, and it made my heart tingle how he would have this silly jealousy over someone I never even knew. "I don’t even think about him unless Heraz comes with the news."

I pinched and stroked his cheek lightly, but Natha just hummed flatly. "Ah, why?" I pursed my lips and hit his shoulder lightly in annoyance.

It was now Natha who looked at me with teasing eyes. "Nothing, I just want to act sulky so my lover would pamper me," he smirked pulling my waist closer to his pelvis.

"What a sly man," I hissed against his lips, so close now as our faces were just inches from each other.

His brow arched and one side of his mouth curled up charmingly. "I’m a Demon Lord,"

"Oh, right," I gasped dramatically. "You’re supposed to be evil and cunning!"

"Heh," Natha chuckled and slipped his hands beneath my clothes, rubbing my bare waist as I squirmed in his lap. "You seem so eager for someone being kidnapped by a Demon Lord,"

My skin shuddered at his cold touch, and I bit my lips before whispering with a laugh. "It’s probably Stockholm syndrome,"

He laughed too, lips vibrating against my ears. The lips that proceeded to nip on my earlobe and kissed my neck slowly. As I tilted my head to give him better access, my eyes caught the parchment that Heraz had given me earlier.

"Oh, the stuff about Midas!" I gasped, and twisted out of his hold to take the neglected report.

Natha looked at me dumbfoundedly, hands still on my waist, and eyes still with a trace of lust. "I really can’t read you out..." he muttered with a tinge of disappointment.

"No, no, listen--" I shifted to turn around and, while still on his lap, now had my back against his chest. "There’s something I’ve been wondering,"

Natha sighed and took his hands out of my clothes. "What?"

"I wonder if that author girl was getting sent here too," I looked up to find his arched brow. "I mean, considering that she received the ’revelation’ or whatever about this world..."

"Hmm, make sense," he finally stopped looking disappointed in failing to ravish me in the middle of the day--even though he was the one who told me to stop the other day, hmph. Natha tilted his head while absentmindedly twirling my hair in his finger. "So you think she is someone behind this Midas?"

"Right--Natha, is Midas a phrase or name that originally came from here?" I asked the thing I had been curious about, but couldn’t ask anyone for obvious reasons. Well, I supposed I could ask Izzi, but he didn’t know much about this world too due to his isolatorian lifestyle.

Hmm...perhaps I should tell him about my situation too.

"No, I don’t think so," Natha answered me after thinking about it for a while. "At least, not from the demon realm."

"Yeah," I nodded. I could attest that Valmeier had never heard about that phrase before too, but I wouldn’t count on him to know much about general knowledge, honestly. Still...

"So I thought whoever named the guild Midas might be coming from Earth, just like Izzi," I told him while putting on mana into the cord tying the parchment.

"I see,"

"Oh, you know about Izzi too, don’t you?" I shifted and turned to see him. Ah, there was still so much we needed to talk about now that we know about each other’s past.

"Of course," Natha leaned back on the couch, answering without hesitation. "How else would I get interested in that failed product? Finding him and the other inventors was my way of looking for you too,"

Ah...that made sense. The reason why he could see that the invention wasn’t trash and was willing to invest a lot was because he knew those inventions, should they work, would bring massive change and immense profit for him. On the other hand, he must have been excited to see the things he saw on Earth at that time--a little proof that indeed, it wasn’t just his delusion, that someone from that world could end up here too.

"And although they are not you, finding them gave me hope that you’d come someday if I wait long enough," he confirmed my conjecture, stroking my hair softly while saying it.

Gosh--you shouldn’t make me blush before we even had dinner, my Lord!

"You are so romantic, you know," I whispered sheepishly.

"Oh, good," he tilted his head and smirked. "That should warrant a kiss, don’t you think?"

I giggled and kissed his lips, just a soft and short one. Before he could catch my lips, however, I pulled away and turned around again, leaning against his chest. "Okay, back to this Midas."

Natha groaned slightly behind me and I hid my smile behind the parchment. The seal on the cord now had come undone and I spread it out to read it. Natha put his head on my shoulder and read the report together with me.

"Mm, mm," I nodded after reading it for a while. "So they began to grow rapidly in the past few years by making revolutionary products, huh?" I glanced at the handsome face on my shoulder. "Sounds familiar,"

"You’re talking about me?" Natha tilted my head in fake innocence, and I elbowed him lightly until he laughed.

"But seeing that they focused on products rather than capital, I think it’s a textbook case of someone getting reincarnated or transmigrated with limited knowledge of the other world, and making innovation on things pertaining to daily needs that they knew best--unlike the ambitious inventors," I continued. This Midas was especially known for making new food and introducing ways to preserve food better and longer. They were big because of this, since it was a commodity that people used daily. "I don’t think they have a financial adventure like you."

"Might also be young," Natha commented.

"Yeah,"

"Like that author friend of yours?" he stroked my cheek, finding exactly what I wanted from this report. "It says the guildmaster had a young daughter,"

"Yeah..." I kept my eyes on the mention of the guildmaster’s daughter, who was said to be involved actively in the running of the guild. The daughter was young, two years below me.

Just like the author girl.

Of course, I knew this reincarnation or transmigration stuff had no business with age. She could be here from a long long time ago, or she could be reincarnated just a few years back, and just a baby right now.

But just as Natha clung to a bit of hope of my existence from the trace of another world’s dwellers, I too, wanted to believe that it wasn’t just a coincidence.

"Do you want to meet her?" Natha asked softly, perhaps because he saw my solemn expression.

"Natha," I put the parchment down and sighed, before looking up at his beautiful silver eyes. "I wouldn’t be able to find you if it wasn’t for her."
