The Dark Extra: Awakening of SSS-Skill Demon Emperor Legacy
Chapter 24: Black Cloud at Faircallen Skies

Chapter 24: Black Cloud at Faircallen Skies

After listening to the middle-aged woman, Agares hurriedly left the tavern and took his horse.

Even though it was night, the man was desperate to get to Faircallen Village as soon as possible. He was very anxious about the condition of Priestess Ara and Nadia’s family.

During the trip, Agares came across several wild animals that chased him. However, he had no time to fight them. The sooner Agares arrived in Faircallen, the better.

’I hope they are all safe and have managed to evacuate to the city,’ replied Agares, anxiously.

After passing through one forest, Agares’ back ached from riding non-stop through the dense forest. Agares had to endure the pain so that he could arrive in Faircallen quickly.

Sure enough, just as Agares had expected! He saw a small group of bandits blocking his path in the middle of the forest.

There were seven of them, five men and two women. All seven stood with their old weapons, threatening anyone who crossed the forest path at night.

"You? Where are you going?" asked one of the men, pointing his red axe at Agares.

"Get out of my way."

"HAHA! You can’t pass before you pay the toll."

Agares was silent, his eyes sharp as he looked at each bandit. They looked so confident that they could kill Agares, even though they didn’t know who Agares really was.

"You guys are really annoying!" said Agares, annoyed.

He got off his horse and stepped forward, approaching the seven bandits who had threatened him.

They grinned, confident that they could defeat Agares. They began to grip their weapons tightly.

"Attack him!" shouted the bandit leader.

Agares grinned. He drew his sword from its sheath and charged forward. The man practiced the same sword technique used by the palace soldiers.

The bandits were taken aback; they didn’t expect Agares to have learned sword techniques.

Their attacks were easily parried by Agares. Occasionally, Agares dodged and blocked the swing of a spear from one of the bandits. Though they outnumbered him, they felt overwhelmed fighting a single man.

"Who are you?!" shouted one of the men.

SLASH!

Just before the man could thrust his spear, Agares moved swiftly to avoid the attack and swung his sword sideways, slicing precisely at the man’s throat.

"AAKKH!"

Blood gushed from his slit throat, he fell convulsively with both hands clutching his neck, trying to stop the bleeding. But it was in vain.

The spear-wielding bandit lay pale and lifeless, drained of blood.

"Do you think you can defeat me so easily?!" Agares snapped.

The six remaining bandits gathered together, four of them wounded by Agares’ sword, the rest exhausted from trying to keep up with his swift movements.

The dead man was the second strongest in the bandit group. They were completely devastated when they realized that their second strongest man had been killed by Agares.

If he could die, what about the weaker ones?

"What do you want? Do you want to pass? We’ll make way for you," said the bandit leader.

Agares smiled slightly. He had already drawn his sword and was sweating in the night, the fight had begun and his strength had been spent.

It seemed pointless for Agares to end the fight just like that!

Agares removed the black gloves he was wearing, specifically on his right hand. When he opened it, the man showed the bandits an image of Saber’s red tattoo on the back of his hand.

"T-That... is the Job Saber tattoo pattern!"

"Saber? Could he be—"

"Activate Skill!" Agares commanded, gripping his sword with one hand, his right hand.

"Saber Skill: Shadow Cleave!"

[Saber Skill: Shadow Cleave Activated]

[-50 Mana]

[Mana: 550/600] [-50]

Black-purple energy flowed from his body and gathered at the blade of his sword, emitting a purple light that shone in the darkness of the night. The six bandits were shocked, running backward as fast as they could to escape.

Agares’ eyes slowly opened, his pupils emitting a dark purple light, a sign that his affinity had taken control of his body. It was also a simple sign that he was ready to use his dark saber skill.

With a horizontal swing of his sword, Agares sent a shadow slash attack toward the six fleeing bandits.

Their running speed couldn’t match the speed of the purple slashes from Agares’ saber skill.

BLAST!

[+150 dmg] [Critical ATK]

[Weakened 5s]

[Reduce ATK]

A black-purple explosion occurred just as the Shadow Cleave attack hit them. Agares walked toward the explosion site while keeping his first skill active.

He swings his sword to clear the black smoke billowing high into the air. From Agares’ eyes, the six bandits are dying with their limbs torn apart by the skill’s explosion.

"Y-You... you can’t escape from the target of Caer Vireth Castle!" says the bandit leader, his legs and arms severed, his stomach split open with his organs scattered.

One by one, the remaining six bandits died a miserable death. Agares held out his hand to collect their dark essence. Seven purple dots of dark essence floated above Agares’ palm.

[DING! Congratulations, Agares. You have obtained Dark Essence]

[Total: 14] [+7]

Not only did he take the dark essences, Agares used this opportunity to loot them. It turned out that all their loot had been handed over to the bandit leader.

Agares found nothing on the six members, but he obtained one magic pouch belonging to the bandit leader.

"I’ll check it later."

After finishing his affairs, Agares returned to his horse and rode away from the forest toward Faircallen.

When he arrived near Faircallen, he didn’t see any bandits. That was a relief for him, as he could save time on his journey.

Leaving the forest, Agares could only stand silently with his eyes wide open. What he saw before him was beyond comprehension; the cruelty and ambition of humans were truly terrifying.

Buildings blackened by the flames of a massive fire, charred human corpses lay scattered across houses and streets. Dust from the fire filled the air in the village, and not a single villager was left alive.

"What... did they do?" asked Agares, too shocked to speak.

Agares, still on his mount, slowly rode along the blackened paved roads of the village. His head kept turning around, observing the condition of Faircallen Village, which he found pitiful and heartbreaking.

Thousands of black crows flew freely, eating the corpses of the dead in the center of the village, as if they had found the best place to get food.

Agares deeply regretted involving Nadia’s family, Priestess Ara, and Faircallen Village in his life.

When Agares arrived at the center of the village, his anger and hatred could no longer be contained when he saw the heartbreaking scene that unfolded before him.

Nadia, the girl who had saved him, was hanging on a gallows. Not only her, but her father, mother, and grandfather had died in an even more gruesome manner, crucified.

Among them, Agares stood speechless, his eyes wide open. Priestess Ara lay dead on the cross, stripped naked and covered in a disgusting, dried fluid. Ara’s death ignited something hidden in Agares’ heart.

"Caer Vireth Kingdom... I will destroy you all!" Agares shouted.

The hatred boiling in his heart triggered the awakening of dark energy within Agares. His body emitted a strong purple-black aura, creating a massive storm in the sky accompanied by lightning and heavy rain.

[WARNING!]

[Dark Energy Expansion Occurring]

[Dark Energy Beginning to Affect Host Genes]

[Dark Energy has successfully influenced the host’s genetics]

[Race: Human -> Demi-Demon]

Agares’ eyes opened, his pupils changing from their original human-like brown to the maroon of demons.

Agares smiled, realizing the drastic changes in his body caused by the hatred he felt upon witnessing the deaths of the Nadia family and Priestess Ara.

[DING! Congratulations, Agares. You have unlocked the fourth saber skill]

[Ultimate Skill: Nihil Severance]

[Cooldown: 6 Hours]

Agares looked at his system panel, which had changed from its base blue color to a dark purple with white text. There, Agares clearly saw that his ultimate skill, Nihil Severance, was active.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

"Just wait, Helderic!"

"The kingdom that you love so much will be destroyed by my hands. That is my oath to Ara and everyone in the village!"
