The Blood Mountain Centipede Monster roared loudly toward Agares. Agares prepared his sword, though he knew it would be difficult to defeat such a monster.

The monster crawled forward quickly, trying to attack Agares with sharp claws in front of its sharp, slimy green mouth. Agares jumped far backward, then ran in a circle to avoid the front of the centipede monster.

"You can’t escape from here, human!" the monster threatened.

From its mouth, the centipede monster spewed a green liquid filled with highly acidic fluid capable of melting iron and destroying flesh. Agares jumped to avoid the attack.

"Activate Skill!" Agares said firmly.

"Saber Skill: Shadow Cleave!"

Agares swung his sword sideways just as he leaped swiftly over the monster’s back. The shadow of the scythe attack charged forward and struck the monster’s body. But the attack had no significant effect on the centipede monster.

Damage was dealt, but it was only a small fraction of the centipede monster’s total HP. From Agares’ vision screen, he saw the monster’s total HP at 750, with three bars remaining.

Now, the monster’s HP decreased due to Agares’ saber skill attack. Yet, it was far from killing it.

’The power gap is huge!’ Agares complained.

"An attack like that won’t kill me, you’re weak!" the monster shouted.

It swung its body and tail. Agares was shocked, trying to defend himself with his sword techniques. Therefore, his physical strength was no match for the centipede’s tail swing.

Agares’ body was thrown far to the side, crashing into a large rock and shattering it. Agares vomited blood, feeling intense pain all over his body.

Agares looked at the red warning panel. A single swing of the centipede’s tail had drained half of Agares’ total HP. He had to be really careful.

The man tapped his magic pouch and brought out an HP potion, restoring all of Agares’ lost HP. Agares ran again after the centipede chased him. He occasionally ran in a zigzag pattern and jumped high when the monster sprayed its acid.

Damn! Agares’ leg was hit by a small splash of the acid, piercing his armor and causing a burning sensation on his skin.

"Ugh!"

"I can’t win if I keep dodging!" Agares complained.

He took a few steps back from the centipede monster. He had a few seconds to use his saber skill, hoping the attack would be fatal to the monster.

"Activate Skill!" Agares commanded.

"Saber Skill: Eclipse Execution!"

Agares floated above the centipede monster, his eyes glowing bright purple with dark energy shrouding his entire body.

A red full moon appeared behind Agares, as did a giant black bat-winged figure with red eyes. The centipede monster froze for a moment.

"This power? Why does your power have an aura similar to that of His Majesty the Demon Emperor?!" exclaimed the monster.

"Demon Emperor? I don’t know him!" snapped Agares.

Agares gathered all his strength into his sword, then thrust it forward in a large purple-black stab toward the centipede monster, followed by a large fluctuation of energy that enveloped him.

A giant purple sword fell from the sky, targeting the centipede monster. The monster tried with all its might to withstand Agares’ mysterious dark power.

Unfortunately, the front of the centipede was its most vulnerable and weakest point. The monster’s protective barrier shattered, letting the giant purple sword pierce right through its body.

"AAAKKH!" the monster screamed in pain.

Agares came down from the sky, stopping the projection of the full moon and the black bat-winged shadow entity. Agares fell to his knees, coughing up blood with labored breath, his eyes blurry from exhaustion.

A purple Saber-patterned Dark Mark appears on the forehead of the centipede monster. The function of the Dark Mark is to increase the damage of dark-elemental attacks and increase the accuracy of dark attacks.

The damage increase varies, ranging from 30% of the total damage or more depending on the DEX attribute of the user, triggering critical hits.

The Dark Mark lasts only 10 seconds from activation. The damage boost persists throughout the duration. The Dark Mark disappears once the duration ends.

Doom is active and forms a curse pattern resembling runes across the enemy’s body. Doom is a 15-second death curse timer.

If the enemy fails to remove the Doom pattern with a dispel within the duration, an explosion will occur inside the enemy’s body, dealing true damage equal to 50% of the Eclipse Execution skill’s damage.

Further damage increase and the explosion timer, Agares was startled. He did not expect the third skill of the Dark Saber Job to be so terrifying.

"What have you done to me, you wretched human?!" the monster roared, unaware of anything.

"I’m giving you a slow, painful death!" Agares declared firmly.

"Activate Skill!" Agares commanded.

Agares didn’t care. He would use every ability he had to kill his first level three monster. With the help of the still active Dark Mark, the power of Agares’ dark skills would increase.

He swung his sword sideways, sending a slashing shadow attack forward that hit the centipede monster right in the face.

An explosion happened in front of the centipede monster, Agares saw the damage percentage he dealt. He only got a 30% increase in power from using his first skill.

Now, his mana was completely drained, his face turned pale and he no longer had the ability to use saber skills.

Agares can only rely on the doom explosion that was about to happen.

The Dark Mark disappears, the centipede monster laughs loudly, realizing that the human before him has lost and was powerless. But five seconds later, an explosion was felt from within the centipede monster’s body because he didn’t get rid of the doom curse.

He stretched out his hand and grabbed three dropped items from the centipede monster. He didn’t know what the two items were for, but he decided to keep them just in case he could sell them later.

Agares sat down to rest, leaning his body against a large rock, exhausted with a pale face. He looked to the side; the black horse he had been riding had died from the battle earlier.

"Ah, damn. I don’t even have the strength to walk," Agares complained.

He turned his head, seeing the undead knights crawling their way up the mountain. Agares chuckled, then laughed loudly, his voice echoing throughout the mountains.

"HAHAHA!"

"What did I do to suffer like this? Why am I the only one who has to go through this?!" Agares shouted.

Agares drew his sword and aimed the blade at the approaching undead knights, "Come here, you rotten skulls!

When he had given up on his fate, a black fire erupted in that spot, killing and burning the undead until there was nothing left. Agares was terrified and in shock.

’The power of black fire? Are there other monsters here besides those rotten centipedes?’ asked Agares.

Agares looked to the side and up, he saw a man in a black robe with red eyes floating in the air. He could easily destroy the undead, but he did not attack Agares. That was enough to make Agares suspicious.

"Who... are you?" asked Agares.

The mysterious man’s attention was fixed on Agares. In an instant, he stood before Agares, crushing his body and face with brutal force, enraging the man.

"WHAT ARE YOU—"

"You’re weak. You’re unworthy to be the successor of our clan!"
