Has an amazing starts but later on novels excellency starts to dwindle a little. Still, it deserves a try. As far as I can see some people are rating it badly just out of principle. One does not simply read 500+ chapters of the novel that brings no enjoyment. It deserves a higher rating.
So, before starting my review, I need to clarify I have only read up to 729, There currently exists a total of 881 chapters. And unfortunately, unlike the scenarios where you stack chapters to read greatness and enjoy, these 152 chapters are instead something I dread to read. You as the reader deserve to know that these 152 chapters have reduced this 5/5 show to at best a 2/5, but reasonably a 1/5. And the reason is already explained by Ekzarcun Kotov, but the author starts destroying the cast he meticulously created himself, with his own hands. He kills characters and ends the chapter with 1 liners of ragebait (checked myself this and it's very true). No matter what magic tricks he wants to pull out of his a*s later on, we ain't bying those.
So my review is only covering chapters 1-729. I'll talk about the plot, Main character and romance.
So the plot is quite good. It's a revenge story about this world-renowned hero who after defeating the demon king, is betrayed by his party. Although it sounds like a generic JP revenge story, it is very different. First of all, the hero left his 25 teammates behind because he was afraid of them being hurt (alongside them was his fiancee). When he returnes back to them, they betray him, while his fiancee chooses to turn away and leave (reason uknown but she did not betray him for some other dude). Our MC was given another chance, ironically, by the dead demon king and inhabits the body of a demon, specifically of an night elf who is looked down by the demons. Although our MC does not go back in time, a 1-year timeskip is instead done before he inhabits the body. The body is around the same year as him I think, and it was basically on a comatose (vetegable 🥦) state. The body which he inhabits has been declared as the prince consort a long time ago, so all of this seem to be the machinations of the demon king. This comatose individual has been tortured throughout the years by those jealous of his status, and this is important. Now, in a body hated universally by the demons, and with a seething hatred for the humans who betrated him, he manipulates the demons to his liking while trying to empower himself for revenge. This revenge includes the human betrayers and those which tortured the body he inhabits. When he inhabited the comatose body, he was given a ring which feasts on the hatred he harbors. The more people he kills who he hates, the stronger he will becomes. Also, the ring gives him many powers, such as an immortal skeleton body which as long as he has mana will regenerate. This is the most basic explenation of the story (also not a very good explenation unfortunately)
The MC is an manipulative f*cker who will do anything to have what he wants. He manipulates the regal queen into liking him just so that he has her support to achieve his goals. In the beginning, the first hundreds of chapters, he is cold, rational and manipulative. Later on, he becomes softer, when he realises that not everyone is his enemy. Still, his hatred has not disappeared, but rather has been focused from the world in general, to only his enemies. Much later in the story, the MC once again has a character development, but this time from soft to very emotional. He sheds this cold rational part of his brain and becomes less manipulative. He won't stop from killing those he loathes, but he stops considering all possible solutions. Like he won't sacrifice every single demon anymore to achieve his desire. He also becomes more, eh... well, other say that he starts thinking with his lower d*ck for the most part. While not true, it's also not wrong either. I personally say he becomes much more emotional, but saying he has become more 'excited' could be true too. Now comes the worst development as of yet. During the latest chapters, the MC just becomes stupid. The author is purposely nerfing the mans IQ so that he can pull off his weird shenanigans. So the MC went from amazing -> still amazing -> Still good -> Bruh, why.
Lastly, the romance. The romance starts very well. I won't say who he gets with, but I will say that there are plenty of emotions inserted into the equation and it's slow. There are plenty of lovers, since it's a harem, but I did not really dislike anyone. Even those who you 'hate' early on have a good character development later. I did not hate anything regarding the romance early on. But after 729, it becomes a clusterf*ck. The author has a weird vision he has to fullfill, so he makes dumb decisions.
So to summarize my review. Chapter 1 to around 600 are amazing, and 600-729 and very good, but not as good as those before. The problem lies with the author being dumb and ruining his own novel. If you go to the original site, and see the authors OWN REPLIES, he literally writes 1 emoji replies to others comment. The author started trolling, and he think he is going to pull some 1000iq play, but if you have any self respect, you won't continue reading a novel whichs own author is literally trolling you.
I can recommend the chapters 1 to around 700. But those after... I do not know. I may pick this show up once I feel strong enough emotionally, but I cannot currently handle seing characters I've been invested from hundreds of chapters being disposed for the author machinations.
The author ruined this himself. I have no words, I don't know if he wanted to pull some crazy plottwists, but it was not worth risking his own time spent writing, and the readers time reading and waiting for chapters.
Tl;dr If you are going to read, only chapters 1-700 (approximately) are worth your time.
The start was good but the more the story keeps going the less enjoyable it becomes. More and more ex machinas and unanswered questions. I droped at around 800 because it was finally to much. Character assasination "figuratively" And constant villain plot armor made me sick of it. A good secondary character dies, lets not learn anything from it and forget it in 3 chapters. And the author rage baiting at the end of such chapters. I would give this a 2.5 out of 5 just for that good start. But no.
Best revenge story. Good carrector and good world building. Although there are much to explore but this is the best revenge story I have read
Good story and very good character development. Waiting for the next big trouble mc will cause in real world. Just one complaint though, all of the royals have dragons , but our mc doesn’t. Although he has the Kraken but still…
Highly recommended on my side, the story is very interesting and strays away from the obvious cliché trend of webnovels and has a way of pulling you in. So don't waste time and read it.
An excellent story. Though obvious at first, the story gradually draws you in with its unique plot. The character writing is great. Mc is powerful and clever. Enemies aren't mediocre; they play essential roles and contribute to the story, making it more engaging. Don't miss it.
