Chapter 98: Chapter 99: Untitled 3
Thirteen District Police Station.
A van stopped in front of the police station, and the door opened, the man with the scarred face jumped down from the driver’s seat, walked to the passenger side, opened the door and pulled out another man.
The man from the passenger seat was bound and unconscious; after being dragged out by the scarred man, he fell from the car, rolled a few times due to inertia, and then stopped on the ground.
The scarred man walked over, knelt beside the unconscious man, held his head with both hands, and remained silent.
Soon, several officers came out of the police station and took the kneeling scarred man and the unconscious man inside.
The interrogation room consisted of two parts; one was the conversation room, used for discussions between officers and suspects, soundproofed; the other was the observation room, for watching the interrogation process, separated by a one-way visible glass.
Jiang Shu and Wolf stood in the observation room, watching through the glass and listening to the interrogation of the scarred man.
"Name." The interrogation was led by a veteran officer of the Pretrial Division, who asked formally, although he already knew the identity of the scarred man.
"Dave Arnold, or you can call me Silver Teeth." Arnold grinned, showing off his silver teeth.
"I have surrendered myself, you should know my deeds, hurry up, don’t waste time on procedures." Silver Teeth Arnold yawned.
Jiang Shu glanced at Wolf, Wolf glanced at Gary, and Gary looked at the Simulated Light Screen.
"Silver Teeth Arnold." Gary pulled up the information on the man, "A notorious drug dealer from F-Section near Seal Street, known for his ruthlessness."
"So why did he surrender?" Jiang Shu asked, "And who is the man he brought over?"
"Not clear," Gary responded to the first question, then the second, "That man, he’s an undercover we had planted in Seal Street."
"Huh?" Wolf looked at Gary.
"No big deal, he just passed out." Gary continued, "Listen to him."
In the conversation room, the scarred man slowly continued, "I surrender, pick any charge you want, I admit to all. ’Seal’ wants to cooperate with you to clean up the Mech Disciples, the traitor there is a meeting gift. By the rules, he should have his tendons cut, but as you see, he is intact, this is our sincerity for cooperation."
He continued, "However, his drug addiction is his own doing, not our concern."
"There are fifteen criminal cases connected to you, you will be sentenced to life imprisonment," the officer frowned, "Why?"
"Some things are scarier than death, scarier than losing freedom," Arnold chuckled, "Just catch me, I have already laid everything out."
Jiang Shu clenched his knuckles, asking, "So who is ’Seal’?"
"A gang boss from F-Section, Seal Street, Anthony Garcia, he’s involved in both legal and illegal businesses," Gary explained, "Seal Street was originally called Angus Street, but as people began calling it that, the name changed."
"Between ’Seal’ and the Mech Disciples, whose power is greater?" Jiang Shu wasn’t familiar with the gang situation in the Thirteen District.
Well, he wasn’t familiar with the Seventh District either, I, Jiang Shu, a law-abiding citizen.
"In terms of influence, Mech Disciples are bigger, but Seal is smarter," Gary said gravely, "He has a stronger base, entrenched on Seal Street, nearly every business there has his hand in it. But he’s very careful, the police know he’s behind many illegal businesses, but there’s no evidence."
He frowned, "This time, Seal is likely looking to dip into the Mech Disciples’ territory. He knows we are dealing with the Mech Disciples in F-Section and will make contact. By doing so, he not only maintains an equal status in this cooperation, upholding his gang’s dignity but also pressures the police station, restricting us, forcing us to pull back our undercover."
Jiang Shu looked at Gary in surprise, feeling like Gary’s mind was much sharper than before.
"I was thinking the same," Wolf nodded in agreement.
Jiang Shu: "..."
"Exactly," At that moment, Tang Hexun entered the interrogation room, "Just like last time, Seal is your responsibility—the three of you will negotiate with him, how about that?"
"No problem," Wolf nodded in agreement, then grinned at Tang Hexun, "Looks like it’s my turn to relieve your worries again."
"I hope you don’t mess it up," Tang Hexun replied blandly, "Gary’s combat power isn’t lesser than yours now, it would surpass T3 in the Combat Sequence, and that’s even without him effectively using his equipment."
"Err, Police Chief Tang, it’s not that exaggerated; I rely on firearms, and they aren’t that useful in the city," Gary was a bit embarrassed, Wolf was the Police Chief, a senior, he couldn’t possibly be better than him.
Jiang Shu silently noted down these words, about the Character Card, Sequence, and such, as there wasn’t much relevant content online.
From Tang Hexun’s words, it wasn’t hard to deduce that in this world the combat power system doesn’t have an absolute relation with gradients, but rather depends on terms, weapons, and other factors.
And he, or maybe the Key Masters, probably exist outside this conventional combat power system.
"Police Chief Tang, he..." Gary looked at the Police Chief, "He should be okay, right?"
Tang Hexun knew Gary was asking about the undercover’s condition.
"He’s not seriously hurt but he has developed an addiction, I’ve already sent him to rehab," Tang Hexun replied, his face still stern, "It’s a kind of protection, once he recovers, I’ll arrange a new identity for him, don’t worry."
Jiang Shu looked at Tang Hexun, silently approving.
Tang Hexun hadn’t come to watch the more critical interrogation process, but instead personally looked after the undercover, arranged his exit strategy, and then hurried here.
Whether intentional or not, such actions really do win people’s hearts, no wonder the Thirteen District Police Station is united, unlike other districts’ stations, always filled with power struggles.
"With Police Chief Wolf and Mr. Jiang Shu here, there shouldn’t be much of a problem with Seal," Tang Hexun continued, "After you find the Mech Disciples’ hideout, don’t act rashly, remember to inform us."
"Understood," Wolf replied, turning to leave the interrogation room, "It’s not the first time I’ve done this kind of work, I know the drill."
"You’re also not new to accidents," Tang Hexun retorted, he looked at Jiang Shu, patting his shoulder, "Mr. Jiang, keep an eye on him, this guy tends to be impulsive, don’t let him drag you down. If necessary, be ready to sacrifice."
Jiang Shu: "..."
Confirmed, these two must be old classmates, and probably very close ones at that, maybe even like father and son.
The kind of father-son relationship that switches roles anytime.
