The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician
Chapter 87 - 88: My Card Moved!

Chapter 87: Chapter 88: My Card Moved!

After a relaxing and enjoyable weekend, Jiang Shu welcomed a new week.

Monday, nine o’clock, in the B section of the Central Building.

The Central Building was the fifth tallest structure in the Seventh District, second only to the Seventh TV Station and the branches of the Three Major Groups in the district.

At this moment, in the corridor outside the Awakening Hall, Jiang Shu comforted the Tablet Spirit in front of him, "Don’t worry, the awakening ceremony isn’t painful at all; it just might make you feel a bit dizzy. As for you guys, there might be malfunctions such as system crashes or data corruption."

He was in the role of someone who had been through it all, casting a fatherly radiance on the four Tablet Spirits, "I’ll stay with you, don’t be nervous."

Jia, Yi, Bing, Ding: Sobbing.JPG.

After waiting at the door a bit longer, around nine-thirty, a group wearing police academy student uniforms emerged from the Awakening Hall, and at the forefront was Wolf leading the team.

"I’ll take them back to the police academy first and then come back. Lunch together? I’ve got something to discuss with you," Wolf said to Jiang Shu.

Discuss?

The group of police academy students was somewhat surprised to hear such a term from the mouth of a T2 police chief.

What kind of matter would necessitate the police chief to consult with someone like... him?

Simultaneously, they turned to look at Jiang Shu; his simple casual attire didn’t appear to belong to someone from the police force.

Could he be a relative or friend of Wolf’s?

Before the thought could fully form, they saw the door to the Awakening Hall open again, and Kirie poked out her head.

Kirie tapped Jiang Shu on the back, and once he turned around, she tugged on his clothes, signaling him to come inside.

"Okay, then come and find us here later, Kirie and I have something to do," Jiang Shu spoke to Wolf, then walked into the Awakening Hall.

Behind him, Wolf gave a look that said "those who know, know," and then, with the group of students—no, the prospective officers—they returned to the Lonely City Seventh Police Academy. As their guide, Wolf was to give a graduation speech and then watch them scatter to their various new posts.

Some would remain in the Seventh District, joining the Seventh Police Station or the local patrol police stations; others would be dispatched to support police forces in other major areas.

All these assignments were determined based on Character Cards; the stronger the Card, the better and more choices one would naturally have.

Inside the Awakening Hall, Jiang Shu and Kirie were the only two people in the vast space.

Jiang Shu looked around; he had thought the Violent Terror Mobile Team would be guarding the place and was wondering how to sidestep them.

"Why isn’t the Violent Terror Mobile Team here?" he asked directly.

Kirie worked on a massive machine in the center, switching several electrodes that should have been attached to the head of an Awakener to the familiar USB ports, and then casually mentioned, "This morning is exclusively for the police academy’s awakening event. No mutants will be produced, so there is no need for the Violent Terror Mobile Team. Besides, with Wolf here, general mutants wouldn’t be able to cause any trouble."

"Oh," Jiang Shu understood but then asked, "If these four awaken successfully, would anyone find out? There’d be a record in the Main Brain’s data, right?"

Kirie gave him another look and then answered, "The Main Brain won’t disclose any personal privacy, nor can anyone access the Main Brain’s database—not even the Three Major Groups."

So, that was it.

Jiang Shu thought and realized something—the Main Brain had no particular bias.

Thus, if some criminals used Character Cards to enter public areas, the police couldn’t access this data to catch them. These data were unobtainable by anyone.

In a city like Lonely City, the collapse of privacy rights was more terrifying than crime itself.

"Let’s start with one," Kirie said, shaking the USB interface in her hand. "Although there have been no malfunctions, it’s still better to proceed one by one."

Jiang Shu looked at the Tablet Spirits, and Yi, Bing, Ding all stepped back simultaneously, while Xiaojia stepped forward with an "I expected as much" expression.

Jia: I’ll go first.

"Alright," Jiang Shu nodded and then inserted it into the machine, which resembled those used for ultrasound scans in the past, where one would lie down and be surrounded by machinery.

But as Xiaojia was too small, the mechanism engulfed the entire spirit, obscuring whatever was happening inside.

After about ten minutes, Xiaojia crawled out of the machine and sat on the edge of the bed, adopting the pensive pose of a wise sage.

"Did it work?" Kirie stared at it, her voice tinged with an indescribable excitement, as she had just witnessed the birth of a new Chapter in scientific history.

Jiang Xiaojia nodded, and on its projection, its Character Card was released.

Name: Jiang Xiaojia

Character Card·Magic Assistant

Gradient: T4

Sequence: Entertainment Series.

Mysterious Coefficient: 0.5

Entries (already blocked)

"It worked," Jiang Shu exhaled deeply, "let’s awaken the others all at once."

"Okay." Kirie nodded, then started manipulating the machinery on the control screen, sequentially awakening the remaining three Tablet Spirits.

Their names were the whimsically meaningful Jiang Xiaoyi, Jiang Xiaobing, and Jiang Xiaoding, and they all had the profession of Magic Assistant.

"Amazing..." Kirie murmured in admiration, "So it can really be done like this..."

In the depths of her heart, an audacious statement involuntarily emerged, a statement that would provoke the ire of scientists everywhere—

There’s no future in research, the future lies in witchcraft!

She didn’t ask Jiang Shu how he had done it, feeling that when the time came for her to know, she would naturally find out. Before that, asking the Wizard Lord would surely be an affront.

"Wait for me, I’ll turn off the machine and then go down to hand over the Door Card," Kirie told Jiang Shu before she quickly operated the machine.

"Okay, I’ll wait for you at the door," Jiang Shu nodded and then walked out of the Awakening Hall. He sat in the corridor outside, opened the Tablet Spirits’ Character Cards, which had conscientiously blocked their entries in Kirie’s presence.

The Character Cards of the four Tablet Spirits were identical except for their names, including the entries.

Entries:

- Passive·Super Brain (?): Computational ability +10

- Passive·Precision (?): Natural malfunctions are extremely rare.

- Active·Repair (?): Ability to repair malfunctions in other mechanical companions.

- Passive·Function Module (?): Can be fitted with function modules, with current modules including Projection and Invasion Protocol.

- Active·Deception (?): With permission, can inherit the main body’s Deception·Derivative Entries, can exchange Derivative Entries with the main body, the storage limit for Derivative Entries is three.

"This is..." Jiang Shu saw the long list of entries, his gaze fixating on the last one named "Deception."

Then, he and the four Tablet Spirits looked at each other, their eyes conveying a clear message.

Shall we try it?

Jiang Shu asked, "How do I give them to you?"

Jia: Search "Face-to-face Fast Transmission" in settings, then follow the instructions.

Jiang Shu: "..."

God damn Face-to-face Fast Transmission!

Soon enough, Jiang Shu had finished these tasks, and he looked at his own Character Card. The Derivative Entry "Paper Card Technique" had vanished and now appeared on the Character Card of the Tablet Spirit Xiaoding.

Immediately, he felt two of his own Cards begin to move.

"!"

It really was possible!

Yi: WTF, my Card moved, I’m not playing this anymore!
