Chapter 72: Chapter 73: I Really Hope Jiang Shu Never Gets Married

"Deception Group, huh?" The painter repeated the term, this organization, of which he had heard, "Why did Deception Group want to kill him?"

"Not clear, but the police’s conclusion is that Jabba was also a member of Deception Group, just not a core member," the sea urchin head recalled while echoing the boss’s words, "Killed due to an internal conflict. Black Silver was plundered as well."

"Is that so?" the painter frowned, this...

Isn’t it a bit too fantastical, operating between Huangwu Company, Black Fire Gang, and Deception Group?

Jabba wouldn’t have been killed if he had that sort of capability.

"Wait." The painter glanced at the sea urchin head. This person was now nothing but an expendable pawn, of no consequence.

He walked into the hallway and explained the situation to the client’s contact.

"Yes, that’s what they say. As for the accuracy, let your people check the police station’s archives to know for sure," the painter said.

"Go make sense of the situation. Take care of the folks from Deception Group... as for the Black Silver, keep it for yourself," the voice on the other side spoke, "You’ll get your fee in full."

The painter nodded; this was nearly what he had expected. Huangwu would certainly use this as a warning to others, and he just happened to be the ready knife.

As an exchange, the confiscated Black Silver would be his spoils of war.

"However, it seems that there isn’t a Key Master in Deception Group," the painter mused while looking at the basic information on Deception Group, his gaze pausing on the line "Core members’ Mysterious Coefficient all below 1.0."

The Key Master’s Mysterious Coefficient varied according to their level of access, but it would never be below 1.0, regardless.

"Heh, in that case, it’s not too difficult," he murmured to himself.

Ever since he obtained his Secret Key and became a Key Master, the painter had realized his difference from others.

Not wealth, nor status, and certainly not mundane power.

Even with just a fraction of a "God’s" power, he was not an existence ordinary people could reach.

He, had divinity!

And Black Silver was the necessary material to control his own divinity.

The Black Silver that Jabba contributed every month was not insignificant, a whole kilogram, and that amount was enough for a few months’ use.

However, he was somewhat troubled, after all, even the Seventh Police Station in Lonely City couldn’t find where Deception Group was located. How could he find them on his own?

He would need to seek help from other Key Masters.

As one of the first batch to receive a Secret Key, the painter still knew one or two acquaintances. If it were them, by utilizing their special privileges, perhaps they could locate Deception Group.

However, he might have to pay a certain amount of Black Silver for it. Thinking of this, he became somewhat irritated.

He truly didn’t want to share even a bit of Black Silver with others. Black Silver, such a thing should all belong to him!

He walked back into the room, looking at the sea urchin head left behind, "Join me."

"Huh?" The sea urchin head widened her eyes at the painter, aware that this man in a white suit was someone sent from above. So, such a person actually took notice of her, offering her to join as a lackey?

"You disagree?" the painter glanced at her.

The sea urchin head eagerly agreed, "No, it would be my honor to work for you."

"I dislike your hairstyle... and that outfit," the painter spun his electronic paintbrush, with its tip lightly pointing at the sea urchin head dressed in flamboyantly colorful clothes.

So, he looked at the sea urchin head and began to sketch her, but on the drawing board, the sea urchin head wore a properly fitted white hat and casual attire.

The hair of the sea urchin head didn’t change; it was just pressed down by the hat, so she appeared more human.

Logically, the painter should have directly changed the sea urchin head’s hairstyle, but his authority was limited to inanimate objects. He wasn’t yet qualified to act directly upon a living being.

Even so, his authority combined with his quick sketching skills meant that his prowess in combat was definitely not weak—indeed, it was elusive and varied, perfect for assassination.

"Let’s go." He glanced back at the sea urchin head to hint at her to follow.

This time he had come to the Seventh District alone, unfamiliar with the place. He still needed a local who mixed with the underworld to accompany him; otherwise, he would waste a lot of Black Silver.

——

The next morning dawned.

Kirie Tsukimiya stood at the entrance of the Magic House, her mind fully occupied with the novel she had stayed up all night to finish—"Starting off as a Great Wizard’s Lackey in Wizard Palace, Ascended to the Wizard’s Apprentice."

The novel was roughly about a woman born within the Wizard Palace who struggled to survive in a Dark Dynasty crafted by wizards, gradually attaining a position of power second only to one, and ultimately replacing the Dark Great Wizard to become an existence revered by all.

The intricately tangled relationships of power, the recurring sense of despair akin to being on the brink of an abyss, and the fierce scheming of power struggles—all this gave Kirie, who had now become Jiang Shu’s lackey, a deep sense of immersion.

Sigh—

As the book put it well, the struggle for power was like rowing against the current; if you didn’t advance, you would fall back, and if you fell back, you’d be doomed!

She had to rise to the top!

First and foremost, she needed to start by supporting the wizard’s heir.

Embracing such beliefs, although unsure of how to proceed, Kirie was fired up, and she knocked on the door.

A moment later, Jiang Shu opened the door, squinting through bleary, sleep-filled eyes, and turned to enter the bathroom to wash up without a second glance once he recognized it was Kirie.

"Ah, you’re here," he said casually.

Kirie entered, "Yeah. Where’s your apprentice?"

Today, Kirie was wearing a white base layer shirt with a light green thin coat draped over it and a delicate small hat on her head, which gave her a look that was at once casual and refined.

"Probably still sleeping," replied Jiang Shu as he emerged from washing his face, casting a fresh eye over Kirie.

It was evident that the girl had dressed with care, a significant improvement from her usual casual, unkempt appearance at the police station.

"Tch, like master, like apprentice," Kirie muttered under her breath very quietly, as she placed the basic science textbooks she had bought on the street onto the desk.

"I heard that. Both ears heard it," Jiang Shu turned and stared straight at her.

"Ah!" Kirie was startled, turning into an instantly fluffed-up cat, and she turned to Jiang Shu, bowing at a ninety-degree angle, "I’m sorry, please punish my rudeness, sir!"

Jiang Shu: "..."

Was this girl having another episode?

Alpha: Isn’t it common sense to reveal your boobs when apologizing?

Beta: Quickly have Jiang Shu make her something good to eat; the girl’s so hungry she’s got her back stuck to her chest.

Gamma: Scientific research has shown that breast size is hereditary; large breasts come from the mother, and small ones from the father.

Jiang Shu: "..."

"Really?" The innocent Kirie-san, after reading the comments from the Tablet Spirit, came to three conclusions:

Small is hereditary.

Jiang Shu wants to see boobs.

A reward of a meal.

Schiick—

She looked down at herself, her field of view clear and unobstructed.

"Don’t listen to them," Jiang Shu cut her off as she did so, "I don’t want to see."

"Who said I was gonna show you!" Kirie’s face instantly turned red, and she suddenly realized that her thoughts and actions were both very dangerous.

"That’s good, then. Just sit for a bit, there’s water in the kettle," Jiang Shu didn’t know what else to say, as Kirie was always acting so weirdly, although indeed she was also very cute.

He dialed Su Xiaoou’s number, "Su Xiaoou? Wake up, your new teacher is here."

"Huh?" A muffled voice came from the other side, followed by the sound of rustling, and then Su Xiaoou’s voice became much clearer, "Now? It’s just past seven in the morning, you... what’s going on?"

"Better come quickly," Jiang Shu glanced at Kirie, who was standing opposite him, observing something in front of the window cabinet, looking very much like a curious baby.

"Oh, I want xiaolongbao," Su Xiaoou began dressing, casually making her order—since her life had gotten back on track, her happiness index had skyrocketed.

After hanging up the phone, she walked into the bathroom, mumbling.

"No matter who marries Jiang Shu, don’t kick me out. His cooking skills are irresistible."

How I wish that Jiang Shu never gets married.
