The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician
Chapter 56 - 57: Isn’t That Disgusting!

Chapter 56: Chapter 57: Isn’t That Disgusting!

"Probably this guy here." The elderly gentleman pointed at the bald man, bluntly stating, "It was him who bought this kind of camera a few days ago. I found myself wondering who would even buy such a thing? Took me a while to find this model in the warehouse."

"Okay, he bought a camera, didn’t you register his information?" Wolf continued, thinking that if he could get the bald man’s identity, maybe...

They might directly catch a member of the Deception Group.

"This is Zone E," the elderly man said coldly.

Wolf, feeling helpless, bid the man farewell and left with Jiang Shu.

"Zone E? What does that mean?" Jiang Shu was puzzled.

"Generally speaking, the purchase of controlled items needs to be registered, but Lonely City places a high value on privacy in its laws, so cameras are also on the list of controlled items," Wolf explained. "However, in Zone E and F, there are only criminal laws, no other laws."

Jiang Shu nodded, understanding, then followed Wolf out of the alley.

Apparently roused by the footsteps of the two men, another elderly gentleman sitting opposite the old objects museum opened his eyes. He watched the two men’s retreating backs and murmured, "They were just here this morning, why are they back again so soon?"

---

After leaving the alley, Wolf squatted under a telegraph pole, operated the Simulated Light Screen for a while, and uploaded the suspect’s sketch into the police database to start a search.

The elderly man’s sketching ability was quite good, capturing a lot of detail, so it wasn’t long before the police narrowed the search down to a few individuals.

One in Zone B, one in Zone E, one in Zone F.

Therefore, Wolf naturally decided to check out the guy in Zone E first.

---

Twisty Street, a place filled with both glamour and violence.

The aggressive street-blasting music, along with the flashing colored lights, caused noise and light pollution that made Jiang Shu shake his head; he twisted around, wanting to turn back, but was immediately pulled back by Wolf.

"What’s the matter? Not used to it?" The area was very noisy, so Wolf spoke loudly, "You always hang around in Zones A, B, and C, haven’t seen this place, huh? Trust me, just find any bar to twist around in, you’ll fall in love with it."

Jiang Shu kept his mouth shut tightly; he had actually been here before, more precisely, nearby, but it was a painful experience, so he didn’t want to talk about it.

Kirie: I still have to swing by Big Bird...

The subtitle hadn’t finished floating by when Jiang Shu snatched it, turning off its screen.

Right, since the ground wasn’t always clean, he put little shoes on Kirie; Kirie had once vehemently opposed wearing the shoes, but had failed to stop him.

Their target was the second-in-command of a gang on Twisty Street, usually in charge of a song and dance hall named "Mischief."

Kirie: Mischief, is this ’egg’ (term) proper?

Soon, Wolf arrived in front of the song and dance hall, looking at its splendid facade; he stroked his chin, "I’ve been here before, not bad."

Jiang Shu resignedly asked, "How can someone like you become a Police Chief?"

"Handsome," Wolf flexed his muscles, sporting the burly type like Uncle Wolf, but much larger in stature and indeed very popular.

It was daytime, so the doors of the song and dance hall were tightly closed. Wolf marched straight up without any courtesy, kicked the door twice, then moved up to the surveillance camera and leaned in, "Call your manager out."

Before long, a swarming crowd of oddly-shaped Wanderers emerged, wielding clubs, baseball bats, bottles, and the like, surrounding a rainbow-dressed trendy guy with sky-high hair.

"Who the hell are you? Daring to mess around in my place?" The colorful trendy guy held his head high, shouting fiercely, "Looking to die?"

Wolf sighed, pursed his lips, took a slow step forward, then suddenly grabbed the trendy guy by the neck, lifted him up, and said in a dismissive tone, "Your speech lacks standard. You’re not the manager. Call your manager out here."

His entire face turned a deep red from the congestion as he struggled in midair, hurling punches and kicks at Wolf, but it was to no avail.

Seeing this, the Wanderers nearby wanted to attack in a group, yet they were petrified by a single glance from Wolf.

"Fifty-nine, sixty," Wolf finished counting, marking exactly one minute, then he let go, allowing the trendy Wanderer to crash to the ground.

The trendy Wanderer sat on the ground, gasping for air. As the designated acting manager and second in command, he was quite a figure on this street. But after being gripped by Wolf as if he was pinching a chick, he felt not anger, but panic.

This guy, he really dared to kill him in the middle of the street!

His hands, just like his heart, were solid and mechanical in their precision and stability. He knew very well that these must be hands that had taken many lives!

"Who... who the hell are you?" The trendy man looked at him, noticing now that Wolf’s impatient expression had grown even more intense. He quickly changed his tone and replied, "I am the man in charge here now. What do you want with me?"

"Oh?" Wolf raised an eyebrow, apparently doubting his prior judgment, but he didn’t have time to delve into it and simply produced a picture, "Do you recognize this person?"

"This is..." The trendy man recognized him at first glance, but he didn’t say it outright, just muttering.

"Hmm?" Wolf grunted through his nose.

The trendy man immediately said, "It’s Jabba, my boss."

"Where is he?" Wolf continued.

"I... I don’t know," the trendy man stuttered in reply.

Wolf snorted and took out his Police Chief badge, "No, you do know. So now it’s simple. Either you tell me right here, or you come back to the station with me. The interrogation department has countless ways to make you talk."

As the Police Chief badge was revealed, any other ideas were instantly dispelled from the minds of the other hooligans present.

If it were nighttime, if Wolf were alone, if he weren’t the Police Chief, maybe these ruffians would dare to go back and get firearms. But now, clearly, that was not an option.

Aside from the trendy man, they were all just fringe gang members, mere Wanderers living in a daze. Naturally, none would entertain the idea of attacking a Police Chief.

"He’s at..." The trendy man gritted his teeth, leaning in and whispering Jabba’s hideout location to Wolf.

Every month, Jabba would visit that place and leave the dance hall in the trendy Wanderer’s care. Jabba sternly instructed him that only in case of major trouble should he be sought out at that location.

Now might be the time for major trouble, only this time, the trouble might be for Jabba.

Jiang Shu, who had been observing the trendy man, decided to use his Spirit Perception without much thought.

Just one use would only drain his mana, with no other side effects. He had tested this before; after one use, his mana would fully recharge in about an hour.

The half-full mana he had left was enough for any unexpected situations he might encounter. Besides, with Wolf present, he wasn’t too worried about his own safety.

After using his ability, Jiang Shu expected to see the color of "fear," but he did not.

He saw green.

Green?

He thought for a moment and, based on Kirie’s previous test results, green meant...

Jiang Shu froze. He watched as the trendy man stood in front of Wolf, a look of "old man on the subway engrossed in his phone" spread across his face, and his steps unconsciously shrank back.

He had heard that some people developed a fondness for the alkalosis caused by suffocation because the intoxication induced a sense of exhilaration or a so-called high.

He never expected to witness someone falling for a man right after being choked.

How disgusting is that!
