Chapter 467: Chapter 258: Only Your Intent to Kill Can Kill Her - Part 3
"You’re awake," a male voice echoed in the darkness.
It was a strange voice, deep, interlaced with some synthesized electronic effects.
It didn’t seem like a sound a human could make.
The girl instantly looked towards the source of the voice, her footsteps involuntarily retreating from it.
"Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you." The voice spoke again, and dim lights illuminated the cramped space.
What appeared before the girl was a man fitted with an abundance of mechanical prosthetics, complete with a full set of chest and abdominal armor and prosthetic limbs, as well as a pair of massive metal wings.
It was as if a character from a sci-fi movie had stepped out.
Only, the prosthetic arm on one side seemed somewhat frail, out of place with the rest of the prosthetic equipment.
And on his face, he wore a pure white faceless mask but, just like the arm prosthetic, the mask also had an imperfection—a serpentine crack stretching from the bottom left to the right side.
"Rift... Rift?" The girl recognized the figure that was recently the talk of the Thirteen District, murmuring his name as her gaze was quickly drawn to another girl in the room.
The other girl, who looked to be about her age and was well-dressed, was currently bound hand and foot, tied to a chair.
Like her just moments ago, this girl was in an unconscious state.
"Remedios, I think you should know why you’re here," Rift’s voice came through the mask as he stepped towards Remedios, then stood alongside her, both looking at the bound girl.
"I... I understand," Remedios said with downcast eyes, recalling the things she had once done.
The seemingly well-behaved girl opposite was actually a street racer; in an accident, the girl’s car had struck and killed her parents.
However, due to the girl’s influential family, the late-night suburban car accident ultimately couldn’t silence the girl’s mouth.
Since then, Remedios’s life had undergone earth-shattering changes, and it was all thanks to this person!
At this thought, Remedios’s eyes instantly reddened, and because of this, she found "Rift’s" secret way of seeking help online and vented by laying it all out.
And now...
What was the situation?
"Don’t worry, you can complete your revenge on her," Rift lifted his arm, and a high-pressure water gun instantly woke the other girl.
"Ah! What is this... you! Remedios! What have you done?!" The girl woke up startled, a look of terror spreading across her face; however, upon recognizing Remedios, she grew hysterical, "What do you want to do to me? Whatever it is, you have to let me go now, otherwise, I won’t let you off!"
"Now, you can kill her and finish your revenge," Rift took a gun and a bullet from his person, pressing the bullet into the chamber, then pulling the bolt, switching off the safety, and handing it to Remedios.
"You... Aren’t you supposed to kill her for me?" Remedios was also slightly stunned; she hadn’t expected it to turn out this way.
That plea for help...
Didn’t it mean Rift would take the action to avenge her?
"No," Rift shook his head, his mask showing no change, but his voice steadily speeding up, "I took out the bullet, I pressed it into the chamber, I pulled the bolt, I switched off the safety, I could even pull the trigger, but..."
"The one to kill her has to be your killing intent."
Rift’s deep voice echoed in Remedios’s ears as she stared blankly at the girl tied to the chair.
She was like a lamb waiting for slaughter.
