Chapter 455: Chapter 254 Wildfire Rages!_2

We need to speed up.

So Maine quickened his pace.

Three minutes later, Maine, dressed in a red robe with a hood, slowly walked into the secret hall.

It was a hall capable of accommodating two hundred people, converted from a church, now serving as the weekly meeting place for the core members of the "Wildfire" group.

Situated in Zone F, not many would notice it.

The secret hall was dimly lit, illuminated only by a grand yet dim chandelier at the center.

By then, the hall was densely packed with people in robes of various colors.

The first row was adorned with red robes, followed by black, gray, and white, indicating a descending order of status.

Such a stringent internal hierarchy was not what Mr. Yaxi had hoped for, but unexpectedly, when the rule was established within "Wildfire," hardly anyone objected.

Perhaps because only those newly joined were assigned the lowest rank of White Robe.

And Maine, wearing a red robe, felt it contradicted Mr. Yaxi’s spirit of "unity and equality," but he belonged to the privileged class.

So he raised no objections.

Silently, soundlessly.

Absolute obedience was ingrained in the Wildfire Group’s bones; as Maine, draped in his red robe, floated through the center of the hall, only the White Robes might glance at him from the corners of their eyes, but would make no sound.

Taking a seat.

Maine sat at the very corner of the first row, casting a glance at the red-robed figure next to him and slightly furrowing his brow.

Beneath the large red hood was an extremely striking face, with features that were sculpted yet delicate.

Her skin was as white as paper, her lips as red as blood, their stark contrast making Maine feel a sense of dissonance.

He almost failed to recognize his classmate yet again.

This red-robed woman, named Erin, was once Mr. Yaxi’s most fervent follower, and after the first Yaxi left, she turned to the second Yaxi, becoming the intelligence head of the latter.

In just a few months, Maine could barely recognize her.

The girl, once pure as a swan, had now transformed into a glamorous and seductive woman filled with spite.

And their eyes merely met, exchanging no words.

Though together under "Wildfire," they both knew they were no longer on the same path.

Quiet footsteps on cloth soles; a man in a deep blue robe walked slowly onto the stage, his face exposed under the orange-yellow light without a hood.

The Leader.

Maine silently acknowledged him, as the sounds of the Wildfire Group standing up echoed uniformly behind him; the rustle of fabric, the stomping of feet, followed by a synchronized ceremonial motion.

Palms cutting through the air, waving towards the Leader.

This was Wildfire’s salute gesture, initiated with the first Yaxi and maintained to this day.

"Fire, fire, fire!"

Yet, those in the first row of red robes needed neither to stand nor salute nor chant.

A simple observant salute sufficed.

Kohen looked at the once-familiar face, remaining silent, saying nothing.

He could feel the transformations in his fellow Wildfire members.

And he had changed much too, yet not in the same manner.

He was not as radical; he, along with many in red robes, represented Wildfire’s rationality, implicitly opposing Erin, distinctly clear cut.

Still, Kohen chose to trust the Leader, after all, he was the successor chosen by Mr. Yaxi, naturally the most suitable inheritor.

"Please sit," instructed the Leader to the Wildfire Group below, nodding for them to be seated.

"Shhhh—" In unison, everyone sat, leaving only the Leader standing on stage.

He cleared his throat, his voice calm and steady, "Today is the final regular meeting."

That first sentence sparked boundless curiosity among the audience below.

The final regular meeting?

What did that mean?

But they did not voice their questions, simply lifting their heads, eyes peeking out from beneath their hoods, looking towards the Leader on the stage.

"Do you believe in the existence of God?" the Leader continued to speak.

He paused, as if waiting for an answer from the Wildfire Group below, but knowing no one would respond, he continued, "There are no gods in this world, which is something we all understand."

"We are all absolute atheists, likewise not believing in the existence of gods," the Leader spoke, his voice tinged with a hint of distance, "The origin of gods, merely mankind’s way to accommodate their own uncontrollable desires."

"But within our ’Wildfire,’ there exists a person akin to a god," the Leader’s voice grew stronger, "He is Mr. Yaxi, the god of us all."

The atmosphere among the Wildfire Group below was slightly stirred; it seemed the worship of Mr. Yaxi had deeply engraved itself into every member’s heart.

Kohen, however, felt a vague sense of unease emerging; from the Leader’s words, he sensed an underlying implication.

Ever since the Leader took over the mantle from the first Yaxi, he had been trying to associate and bind himself inseparably with the four words "Mr. Yaxi."
