Chapter 388: Chapter 228: Wait, He Entered the Morgue?!_3

The hairless chicken was struck violently and flew immediately towards the nearby wall, smashing into it and leaving a half-formed red chicken imprint.

Ooishi was quick to react, seizing the chicken while it was still dazed from the impact. He grabbed it with one hand by the middle of its two wings and held it firmly.

"Got it." Ooishi placed the chicken in front of the camera as if it were as insignificant as butter, his voice steady as if he had done a trivial matter, then he handed it to Kojima, "Here, you take it."

Streams of comments floated by.

"Lonely City’s number one chicken catcher."

"Brother Photographer is too skillful, show your face!"

Kojima took the chicken, stunned, and as he felt the chicken’s struggle, he gripped it tighter.

"Dear audience, we have also successfully captured this resurrected chicken," Kojima held onto the restless chicken, his hands and body smeared with some red oil. "First of all, I can confirm that this chicken has body temperature; it is a live chicken, not some mechanical chicken or anything."

"Don’t worry about that chicken for now, go see where Jiang Shu has gone, I think there’s nobody in that direction!"

"True, take the chicken with us, we can eat it later tonight."

"Just because you say it’s not a fake chicken, doesn’t make it real? I think the movements of this chicken are a bit stiff."

Kojima glanced at the comment stream, realizing what the priority was, and made eye contact with Ooishi. Then, they both quickly followed, trailing after Jiang Shu’s steps.

As they proceeded, there was something off about the place; the number of people in the hospital was obviously dwindling. Though the lights in the corridor ahead were still on, there was an unsettling chill to this area for some unknown reason.

Kojima carried the chicken in his arms, and in doing so, it became much calmer and ceased its struggling. But his checkered shirt was now stained with red oil. He looked to the comment stream, where one comment, in particular, caught his attention.

"Aren’t you guys in Zone B, Hospital No. 1? The direction ahead leads to the morgue!"

Kojima was suddenly puzzled, "The morgue?"

The morgue?!

His gaze froze, pupils dilated in shock.

What did the morgue mean?

What in the world did this Magician intend to do?!

"Kojima, run! The morgue is ahead!"

"Run, run!"

Suddenly, as if someone had set the pace, the screen filled with comments telling them to "run."

Kojima, however, just smiled, not saying much, and kept up.

"B level, Morgue No. 1." A moment later, he quietly read the door number, and when he looked inside, the morgue was empty.

Where was Jiang Shu?

Kojima looked around but could not find Jiang Shu anywhere.

"Weird, you saw the Magician heading this way, didn’t you?" Kojima asked in surprise.

"The Magician definitely came in here."

"Where’s the person?"

"Don’t you guys find this place creepy?"

"There’s a body on the bed!"

The notification of a body shook Kojima, who then surveyed the entire mortuary.

The morgue was divided into two parts. The outer area’s walls were covered with silver metal grids, each able to store a body. They could be pulled out to access the bodies, just like long drawers. The eight beds in the middle of the morgue were used for temporarily placing bodies for autopsies and other tasks.

At that moment, on a simple, movable bed tucked away in the corner, lay a body inside a body bag.

Kojima approached and saw that the body bag was fully sealed. The body within had the pallor and the expressionless face characteristic of the dead. He swallowed hard, "The following footage may be shocking, please view it with discretion."

The next second, the camera was pointed directly at the corpse’s face.

"????"

"What the f*ck?!"

"Take it away!"

"Wait, isn’t that the artist Photographer?"

Kojima also read the label on the body bag: "Lu Yi, male, twenty-nine years old, time of death: December 2nd, 3 PM."

"This is a dead person," Ooishi said, turning the camera towards the metal grid, "The dead person that Jiang Shu pulled out."

"Uh-huh." Kojima’s expression also soured as he began to sense the eeriness of the situation.

This Jiang Shu...

He couldn’t be some sort of evil scientist or Wizard, could he?

At that moment, there suddenly came the clear sound of dress shoes on the hallway floor.

Kojima and Ooishi simultaneously turned their gazes toward the door, where the corridor lights abruptly came on.

The two exchanged a look, each seeing the same horror in the other’s eyes.

"What do we do?" Kojima mouthed to Ooishi beside him.

"Hide for a bit," Ooishi replied.

Though they had communicated briefly, they didn’t slow down. Almost instinctively, they made their way towards the dark inner area of the mortuary.

The inner area was unlit, and they had no idea what it was used for, only catching a strong scent of formalin.

They had no time to see what this place was truly like, only turning off all the sound-emitting electronic devices and then peering with the camera lens towards the outer area.

"Tap, tap, tap." The sound of leather shoes touching the floor preceded a shadow cast by corridor lights into the morgue, followed by the appearance of a smartly dressed figure at the doorway.

Dapper and cold-faced, the figure was much like those ruthless suited thugs commonly seen on TV dramas.

Jiang Shu.

Hiding in the darkness, Kojima and Ooishi felt an intense pressure, reminiscent of low-ranking thugs encountering the evil antagonist in a film.

Logically, to showcase the antagonist’s ruthlessness and callousness, the thugs would be killed without hesitation.

Jiang Shu walked over to the bed in the corner with a stoic face, glancing at the body before unhesitatingly unzipping the body bag, he bowed slightly, sniffing the air about half a meter away from the body.

Seeming to have detected an odd scent, his brows knotted tightly, he stood up tall and looked around.

"There seems to be a strange smell," Jiang Shu muttered to himself, his steps idly falling within the morgue.

Suddenly, he stopped, bent down, and pointed to something on the floor; he examined the bit of red oil on his finger and turned to look in the direction of the inner area.

In the inner area, Kojima’s heart thudded violently; he realized that the red oil chicken he was holding spelled trouble!
