Chapter 369: Chapter 221: Conjectures and Slaughter of the Spiritual Body

Thirteen candles were lit on the chandelier, the soft orange candlelight flickering within the not-so-large meeting room.

Pale white walls adorned with expensive paintings, wooden cabinets and a small round table neatly arranged, stone floors seamlessly constructed, and an intricate-patterned rug spread across the floor, gave the room a distinctive historical ambiance.

Alongside the central rectangular meeting table, six chairs were placed on each of the longer sides and one chair on a shorter side, totaling thirteen elegant mahogany chairs.

On these thirteen positions rested thirteen corpses, their shadows cast onto the floor, morphing into various shapes with the movement of the candle flames.

The corpses, some aged and others youthful, shared one common trait—with well-preserved bodies, they looked indistinguishable from living beings, appearing as if they were merely in a deep slumber.

They maintained the same posture, leaning against the chair backs, heads drooped, in a bizarre yet peaceful demeanor.

The castle had stood for over a century and now, only this top-floor meeting room, significant in its own right, remained untouched by any technological alterations, preserving the ancient flair of centuries past.

Near the small round window, Tang slowly withdrew his gaze from surveying the mansion, looking towards the thirteen corpses on the meeting table with calm eyes, slightly nodding.

These thirteen corpses were all influential members of the Dick family, albeit from collateral branches.

The disappearance of Diller Dick yesterday had brought these twelve individuals together here, providing Tang the perfect opportunity to capture them all in one fell swoop.

Now, with Diller safely returned, and the twelve corpses still retaining much of their activity thanks to medicinal treatment, they could all partake in the ritual.

Once the ritual was completed, there would no longer be anyone in the Fifth District to refute him, and he could proceed with his plans unhindered.

"Let’s begin," he announced loudly, his voice echoing throughout the meeting room, carried as if communicating with something unseen.

The next second, the candles in the room fiercely swayed, stirring an eerie atmosphere that instantly spread throughout the meeting room.

"Tang?" Upon hearing what Jiang Shu had said, Liu Tingruo was also momentarily stunned.

Until now, her artificial intelligence conversion technique had produced three mature creations; first were the three robotic devices made for Tang, next were Jiang Shu’s four Tablet Spirits, and lastly, the fully actualized strong AI, Shu Bao.

Jiang Shu’s words had suddenly reminded her, yes, Tang might have already discovered the species that Shu Bao mentioned.

Over such a long period, it might have gone beyond mere observation.

Observation, analysis, communication, resource exchange...

This was the most common inter-species interaction model.

Yet, they were still at the simplest observational level; rapid progression would require a lot more time, which was precisely what they lacked the most now.

"Even if he discovered it, it isn’t so easy to exploit, right?"

"Bang—" The secret base’s concealed door opened and closed, a large-headed robot trudged in, its heavy body dragging as it entered.

Though it was a robot, it vividly displayed the exhausted scene of an office worker returning home after a long day.

As it passed the living room sofa, it saw Jiang Shu and Liu Tingruo lying on the couch, intimately engaging in a conversation, with a movie playing on the large electronic screen in front of them.

"Sigh." Shu Bao heaved a sigh, its facial expression portraying the bitterness and exhaustion to the fullest.

Seeing this, Jiang Shu also felt somewhat amused; of course, the robot wouldn’t feel tired, all these actions were based on its own judgment, believing this was the appropriate behavior to display.

After all, it was an AI created from human personality traits, naturally advantaged in mimicking human behavior.

"Go perform a self-check first, then upload the data collected today to the main network," Liu Tingruo instructed, "I’ll join you shortly."

Today, Shu Bao had been on the streets all day collecting data about that species under her assignment.

Fortunately, it was deliberately designed to resemble that typical large-headed robot, which allowed it to wander the streets all day without drawing any attention.

"I understand, but sister, I discovered something quite interesting today," Shu Bao didn’t proceed with the self-check immediately; instead, it displayed a simulated light screen before Liu Tingruo, showing a blurred street video.

It was an accident video, a pedestrian being hit by a speeding car and thrown ten meters across the road, and from this video alone, it was clear the pedestrian was unlikely to survive.

Unless they had a special protective device inside their bodies that could perfectly safeguard their internal organs.

But if they possessed that kind of device, their Prosthetic Eye level wouldn’t be low, preventing them from failing to react to the oncoming vehicle.

"So what?" Liu Tingruo looked at Shu Bao and asked.

"Next, I activated Inversion mode for observation," Shu Bao then switched to another video, a simulation it created based on what it had observed, "On the scene, ’that species’ increased by one."
